Chapter Text
Nekura watched as the curtain caught on fire
Watched as the fire grew
It was already on fire, who’s to say it wouldn’t happen again, does it really matter if she prevents the fire now? What if it happens later? When she’s not there? The result would be the same and her efforts would have been wasted, so should she do something? Should she risk doing something useless for the fact that it can just happen again? There was no guarantee that if she puts the fire out now, it won’t start up again, the chances of that only seemingly increasing with it happening once, so logically, she shouldn’t interfere right? Let the natural thing happen, there was a forest fire everyday and nothing changed, so how was this different? Does she have the right to interfere? Especially since this world was made by mother for the goddess, so everything that’s within it is her own, what if this is the goddesses will? What if this is something she wishes for? What if this was what mother wanted? Does she dare to interrupt those plans? Those wishes? Does it matter if she does? Because if it truly was their desire it would happen again right? There was also a chance this was all accidental, that this didn’t mean anything at all, but then would it matter if she did something? Does anything really matter? It should right? Because mother created this world, she would probably know? Or maybe she doesn’t, this world made because of her pain and love, does she even truly comprehend its scale? Does she understand every nock and cranny of fate, does she control it? Would mother even care if anything happened? It didn’t concern the goddess, so the chances of that were lower…
Taking a break from her thoughts, Nekura looked up
‘Ah, it’s already too late, I suppose I couldn’t do anything in this situation’
The kitchen completely taken over in flame, not a single spot not burning, slowly spreading over to Nekura’s spot in the hallway
Sending a quick message through her connection with her sisters, Nekura walked to her room and picked some of her belongings before walking out of the burning building
Such a shame, Nekura found so many spots to hide and read poem in, to have all of them gone was surely a reason to spend some time alone, gloom over the event
If only she could stop it…

Walking back from school, Homura sighed, exhaustion taking over
She tried to stop Madoka from getting closer to her and failed, again, Homura just simply couldn’t say no to her that much, being persistently asked to hang out, it was only a matter of time before she broke and gave in to her, she simply loved her far too much to decline her wishes that much, or maybe she didn’t love her enough by giving in
By getting closer and increasing the chances of ruining it once again
Rubbing her forehead, Homura wondered if she should just reset the day, sure there were side effects, her previous friends having a sense of something wrong, a sense of the day repeating itself, a general sense of wrongness as well, but it was maybe worth it? Sure it would make it easier for Homura to supervise them if she’s closer to them, but that would also introduce problems too right?
It can’t be that simple, just can’t be
She spent far too much time removing herself from her humanity too, so going on these hang outs would probably make her out to be even weirder than before, sure she accepted not being human long ago, but she didn’t think of herself as a step above a witch then, hadn’t taken that step before
And as great as it felt, feeling her love grow stronger alongside her abilities, feeling a grasp over the world shift to her favor, the law hidden within her chest losing more and more control, submitting to her, it was also horrifying in a way, especially the way her body shifted sometimes, bones merging before breaking apart, her muscles turning into stone, wooden shackles binding her hands
But she could deal with that
Wasn’t a big deal
At least she could relax at home…there was no need to pretend there, only her dolls occupying the space and even then, the only thing they did was being a minor annoya-
Homura stopped dead in her tracks
Staring at where her house was supposed to be
Staring at the charred remains
“…what”
Her eyes jumping around, Homura spots…an acquaintance instead of the dolls she was looking for, approaching her
Fuck
Panic slowly sets in as Homura looks around herself, trying to find where to hide, where to go so she doesn’t have to have a conversation with the girl about her house burning down, because Mami knew, saw Homura walk out of it on more than one occasion
She could…just make it appear right? But would it look similar enough to fool her? Would she even realize it fast enough so that she decides to ignore Homura or would she push forward, now having another topic for a conversation?
“Akemi-san?”
Fuck she was thinking for too long, fuck fuck fuck
“Yes Tomoe-san?”
Ok, good, she remained calm! Didn’t say anything stupid! This was great! Good!
“I couldn’t help but notice…the current state of your house and wanted to ask…do you have anywhere to stay right now?”
Ok, easy enough, just lie
“No I do not”
Wait fuck why did she say that!?? She had no reason to say the truth!?!? She could just walk out of it! Why did she just say no!???
Mami hesitantly smiles at her
“…then, would you like to live with me for a bit?”
That’s…stupid
“…you don’t know me?”
“I do! Not well, but I do! We’re neighbors! This is a great opportunity to grow closer too isn’t it?”
Wait no this shouldn’t make sense
Stop brain! You had a job to do! You can’t just agree to this! It’s already hard enough to separate yourself from them, you physically wouldn’t be able to do so if you live with one of them! Just say no! It should be easier than saying no to Madoka right? Just don’t imagine them together, just don’t think about Madoka!

Carefully putting down what was left from her stuff, Homura sighs
It was a losing game the moment she tried not thinking of Madoka
But hey! On the positive side, she could probably look over Bebe better? Wait no she had a name right? What was it…
Something starting with N?
Well that wasn’t important
The important thing was her failure to say no, also to figure out where to store her dolls, or to find them at all…
Well, shouldn’t take too long, pulling an all nighter should be enough to find them and then a place for them, maybe she will even learn what happened to the house
At the very least, living with Mami wasn’t the worst case scenario, she could have been stuck with someone far more annoying, like a certain girl who keeps attempting to get her memories back and then overthrow her
She had much better things to focus on! Homura made sure of that! She even made sure to put them together so what more did she want!? A bigger house? Another holiday? Maybe she should just push them together into a kiss, that way she will be more busy dealing with that then trying to restore her memories again, right?
Tripping on a toy, Homura watches as the floor rapidly approaches her
Momentary, she thinks about activating her magic, thinks about stopping her fall, but her disguise of a normal middle school girl would fail then
So she takes the fall with grace, doesn’t cry for too long
…she should have brought her body pillow with her
