“It’s such nice weather, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“The weather. It’s very nice today,” Cheng Xiaoshi repeated.
Lu Guang supposed he was correct. He slowly turned his head to look out the window.
Yellow light blinded him if he looked right above himself. This yellow warmth wrapped in a cold shy blue made him think of a singular sunflower. There were thin streaks of white swimming in that quiet ocean, far from the sun. Had there been more flowers, they would’ve made a lovely bouquet tied with a smooth, white ribbon.
This flower, however, this burning warmth, was surrounded only by cold. It made a lonely bouquet.
“Yes,” Lu Guang lied, just to make his friend happy, “it’s nice.” It worked, and Cheng Xiaoshi smiled.
