Chapter 1: Get the translator!

Chapter Text

Please read the notes if you haven't they are important!

It all started in a sunny day in Germany. Isagi's parents had brought him to this country to watch a really big game in which the kid's idol, Noel Noa, participated in. The japanese boy, despite being only 12, had continuously lamented the fact he couldn't watch the star in person, and, eventually, Iyo and Issei caved in. After saving up some money, they got enough to be 2 weeks in the country.

It was still the first day on the new place, 1 week until the game, when Isagi decided to go to a park, accompanied by his parents. His german was still far from being good, being only based on the matches and articles he has read, mixed with random online lessons. Still, he hoped to maybe find a friend within this time.

As his parents tell him to be careful, Isagi wanders around the place with a ball in his arms. Scanning the area, his visions was caught by a beautifuland long blond hair. It wasn't an usual color in Japan, so it slightly mesmerized the boy. The owner of such hair was seemingly a boy, sitting in a corner while looking at the sky, perhaps thinking about life. He looked around Isagi's age, older but by not too much. He was also definitly german, which made Isagi think twice. He had yet to be confident in his speaking abilities, as his german was not the brightest but even so, his curiosity won him over, making his feet move towards the other boy. Finally close to the other, Isagi started, in shaky german.

"Hi! I'm Isagi Yoichi, what about you?"

The other, not expecting anyone to talk to him, got slightly startled before glaring at the japanese "Why are you talking to me."

With such a difference in fluency, along with the german's stare, Isagi almost felt discouraged "Uhm... I'm new here and uhh I'm looking for people to talk with!"

"Go away, I'm not the best person for that."

The attitude almost pissed him off, but after gathering such courage, Isagi was not letting it go to waste. Sitting up next to the other, he quickly continued "I'm 12, what about you?"

THe unamed boy frowned at the other's behaviour, before finally muttering an answer "I'm turning 14."

...

"Well... Do you like soccer?" With the mention of the sport, the stranger's eyes seemed to light up a little, before going back to his unaprochable expression. Isagi caught it, smilling a bit at the reaction.

"I guess so..." he paused, fianlly looking at the other properly before continuing "You're a foreigner right?"

"Yeah, I'm japanese! I came to uhh..." Isagi's voice faded out as he lacked vocabulary to continue. Language barriers are truly ass.

Sensing his difficulty, the german quietly pulled out his phone, opening a translator and giving it to the other. Isagi lit up at the gesture, happily writting down what he meant so he could communicate properly. Reading the translation, the stranger nodded before gesturing the other to keep the phone during their conversation. "Have you watched matches before? I came to watch the one happening on sunday and I'm so excited for it! I'll finally be able to watch Noel Noa after all!" with the help of the translator, Isagi could speak more easily, to what he was really grateful to.

"Not really, never had the opportunity to..."

"That's sad. It's the best thing ever you know? I'm so glad my parents gave me the opportunity." the blonde's gaze slightly darkened at what the japanese was rambling about. Realizing it, Isagi quickly looked around before continuing "Hey, want to play a bit with me? There's a field over there."

Weighting his options, the other got up, glancing at the younger boy before showing a small smirk "Sure, you're about to lose badly."

"Hey! I'll show you."

The german was better than he thought. They were running around through the whole field, quickly tiring Isagi who started speaking while huffing "Ah.. Not fair, you're older than me!"

"Hah! Sounds like excuses to me."

The japanese glared at him, before finally relaxing his expression. He was glad the other agreed to play with him, afterall, it was his first day in Germany and he was very anxious about it. Looking at the sky, he saw how late it has gotten without him realizing. Time really flies with the other, huh?

As if reading his mind, he heard his parents, who were nearby, finally call him. After assuring them he was about to come, he turned to the other "Sorry... I need to go. Thanks for playing with me, I'll probably come to this park often during this time, I hope I see you here."

The blond looked at him for a split second, thinking about what to say. In the end, he showed a slight smirk, similar to those he flashed on the field "My name is Michael Kaiser. It's nice to meet you, Isagi Yoichi."

This was basically an acception of friendship, right? Isagi thought while walking back to the hotel room he and his parents were staying. Seems like today was truly a good first day.

For the next 3 days, Isagi begged his parents to go to the same park, at the same hour, hoping to find Kaiser. Having a new friend was always cool, even more when they were equally enthusiastic about soccer (which wasn't that common). Surprisingly, the blond appeared all the time, still with his usually frown, but letting smirks and grins appear whenever they played. It seemed he was opening up, which got Isagi feeling proud over the progress. Playing with Kaiser was fun, he wanted to do so for his whole stay in Germany. On the 5th day, he decided to ask his parents.

"Hey mom...How much is a ticket for the match? Is there still some available?"

"Why do you ask Yoichi?" Towards his silence, Iyo only slightly smiled "Is this about your new friend at the park?"

Isagi flushed at being caught, before continuing "Yeah...He said he never went to one and he seems to like soccer just as much..." Such sentiment almost made the adults emotional, seeing their kid being so thoughtful was truly heartwarming

"Well sweetheart, there's some, but its not too cheap that I can just buy it. What if we take a bit from your birthday money? Would you like that?"

"Yeah!" Isagi brightened at it, nodding fervently "But.. Would it be weird? I don't know him that long yet."

"Hmm... I think that doesn't matter, you both seem to have a lot of fun with soccer, it's really nice to see. Just make sure to ask him before making your decision alright?"

"That's right! Thank you mom, you're the best!"

The kid went running to hug his parents, making them giggle.

The next day, Isagi hurried to their usual spot, quickly viewing the other from afar "Kaiser!" The other turned towards the calling, changing to his usual smirk

"Hey Yoichi, came back to get destroyed?"

The use of his first name startled Isagi at first until he remembered that was usual for Europeans. Considering that Kaiser was his friend, he decided not to call him out to it. Isagi smirked back before replying "As if! This time I'm going to make you eat dirt."

Arching his eyebrow, the blonde replied "Seems like your german has improved, but not for the best." Continuing the usual bicker, they quickly got to the field, fighting to dominate the ball. After a long time, they took a break, sitting on a nearby bench.

"Hey Kaiser, what do you think of going to watch the match with me on sunday?"

"Huh? But I don't have any ticket."

"Just answer! Would you want to?"

The german was confused, but smiled slightly at the idea "I guess so... It would be nice." Looking at his expression, Isagi couldn't help but to grin. Kaiser was usually really distant, but moments like this really showed his passion. He wished to know more about him, he wanted to beat him.

"Then you better free your schedule."

Widening his eyes, Kaiser looked at the other, not knowing what to say. He was silent for a while, frowning again, before finally muttering something.

"Why are you trying to be my friend?"

...

Well, Isagi wasn't expecting this. He didn't know why the german was so skeptical about people, but decided to answer anyways "You seem to like soccer just as much, so why not? Playing with you is always fun, I want to crush you so I can finally rub it in your face." Kaiser's lips seem to move a bit, but not enough for a smile. His eyes wandered throught the sky (an habit he seemed to have, Isagi picked up) before settling to the other.

"Then you have to get better. I'll be your friend, but promise we will work to completely crush eachother."

Isagi smiled, he was totally fine with the condition "You bet! You're going to get into soccer professionally right? If so, one day I will make it to the world cup and I'll crush you." the german started laughing at the bold exclamation, finally showing what could be called a smile.

"Yeah, I'm alredy working to be the best I can be, so don't disappoint me Yoichi. I'll be waiting for you at the top."

"Confident enough huh? You're on, Kaiser."
