Work Text:
Madara knocked on the door to room 303, shifting his feet and looking around to see if anything was amiss. It seemed shockingly quiet inside, considering the inhabitants and their dynamic with one another. It only took a few moments for the door to be swung open, though, greeted by Hiyori standing there with messy makeup and braided hair (despite the fact that it wasn’t all that long; this meant he had several braids in).
“Madara-kuuun!” He sang warmly, glancing back into the dorm as something fell over, and Madara peered in nosily. “Tomoe-san! Good ta see ya again, uh– Is everythin’ alright in there?” He raised an eyebrow, and the noble only waved dismissively, stepping aside to let Madara in. The brunette entered without hesitation, swinging his bag at his side.
“Yesyes, everything is fine, and I told you to call me Hiyori, didn’t I? I don’t like being referred to by my family name, it alienates you from me, right? Please, at least call me Hiyori-san, if you must be formal!” As the two walked a little further into the dorm, Madara realized a plant had been knocked over by a blanket being dragged too close to the pot, which seemed to irritate Hiyori once he noticed.
“Ah, I was gone for less than a minute, and you knocked over one of my plants?!” He scolded Kanata, who was at the scene of the crime, blanket in hand- Or rather, wrapped around its body. It only looked at Hiyori for a moment before stepping closer to the green-haired man, engulfing him in the blanket as well. That seemed to knock down Hiyori’s walls of anger, as he laughed, hugging his dormmate.
“So, ah, where’s Rinne-san?” Madara interrupted hesitantly, and Kanata blinked at him a few times before tilting its head towards the kitchen.
“… Chief-san is getting ‘drinks’ for us all.” Kanata supplied. There was a brief tension between the two of them, things that seemed possibly too loaded to tackle during this sleepover, so Kanata just allowed a small smile to tug at its lips as an invitation.
“Don’t worry about him!” Hiyori added, squirming free of Kanata’s blanket grip and waving at Madara. “Now, you can set your things up in the bathroom if you have many toiletries, otherwise you’ll be sleeping there–” She gestured a bit to the area that wasn’t already covered in blankets and pillows, presumably meant to function like sleeping bags on the floor. “Whaaat, you’re all sacrificin’ your beds for li’l old me? You don’t all hafta sleep on the floor like this!” He protested, but Hiyori shook her head, mini-braids bouncing as she did so.
“Nonsense! It wouldn’t be a sleepover if we didn’t all sleep together! Though you could likely fit in bed with me, as I am the shortest person here, but I think it would be…” Hiyori trailed off, color slowly filling her cheeks before she shook her head. “Much more fun if we were all together!”
“Ohisama-san is ‘right’… The fun of a ‘sleepover’ is to sleep together…~” Kanata agreed, and Madara chuckled as Rinne entered with some drinks that appeared to be cocktails– But upon further inspection, once Madara had one in his hand, he realized it lacked the smell of liquor.
“Did you make mocktails, Rinne-san?” The larger man asked, and Rinne nodded, beaming. “Kanacchi ain’t a big fan of alcohol, and technically none of you three are legal drinking age, so I wanted to make a special mix! Just for our guest, Mikeneko-chan!” He threw himself onto the couch, somehow avoiding spilling a single drop of his own mocktail as he lounged and grinned. Madara could see the resemblance between Rinne and Kohaku, and it was endearing. Though Kohaku had repeatedly protested any paternal advances the two of them made, the thought of jokingly co-parenting the younger idol made Madara smile.
“Well, now that that’s out of the way, what will we do tonight? I heard Tetora-kun and Arashi-chan are out on a date, did I mention that? Can you believe it? I never expected Tetora-kun to confess!” Hiyori, ever the gossip, immediately launched into catching the other three up on the happenings of EnSquare’s couples and couples-to-be. She had even recently dragged Rinne into betting on relationships, which was thrilling because no one ever wanted to gamble with Rinne and Hiyori had money for days. This meant that Rinne was earning a pretty penny and getting to be right quite often, much to Hiyori’s chagrin.
“Ah, it ain’t surprisin’. Arashi-san’s always had a thing for hardworkin’ and earnest boys, anyway, so I ain’t shocked she accepted his feelings either!” Madara chipped in, and Kanata nodded slowly, thoughtfully. “Tetora is exactly like that… He ‘asked’ me how he should ‘confess’, and I said to ask Ohisama-san instead…”
“But of course, we’re not very close, so it took him some time to come to me. Naturally, though, he understood that I’m good friends with Arashi-chan, didn’t he? So eventually, he came to none other than I, Hiyori Tomoe, expert at romantic confessions and gestures!”
“When’s the last time you confessed to someone and you weren’t a little tipsy?” Rinne teased, and Hiyori gasped and shoved him playfully. “Shush! It’s my right to wait for suitors to court me instead of going to them!” She replied, rolling her eyes.
“Say, Hiyori-san, have ya heard about Midori-san’s feelings fer Shinobu-san?” Madara piped back up, sipping his mocktail briefly before setting it down and beginning to prepare his sleeping area. He pulled out a blanket and pillows, as well as pyjamas and an old worn-out teddy bear, setting it all up. Hiyori nodded eagerly, springing forward on the couch and spilling a little bit of her drink in the process. “Yes, yes! Kanata-kun told me all about it! Did you know Midori-kun got so flustered during practice at seeing Shinobu-kun’s cute face, that he spilled the contents of his water bottle and slipped? Chiaki-kun slipped as well, what a pity, isn’t it?”
“Ah, I hadn’t heard that! I did hear ‘bout Shinobu-san gettin’ in a tight situation, apparently Midori-san took it upon ‘imself to make sure Chiaki-san lent a proper helpin’ hand…”
“Yes, Midori sent ‘eggplants’ to Chiaki, to ‘scare’ him… Into helping Shinobu with ‘ninja’ activities…” Kanata nodded, humming and smiling at the memory.
The four of them continued to gossip for some time, and Kanata made its way over to Hiyori’s lap, curling up against him. Rinne ended up eventually moving closer to Madara, and it didn’t take long before Kanata was yawning.
“Hey, Hiyori-san, what’s the story with yer makeup, anyhow?” Madara asked, raising an eyebrow as Rinne not-very-subtly slung an arm around his shoulders. “Ah, Kanata-kun did it! It’s not very adept at makeup, but I do quite love the way it tries its best.” He explained, and Kanata nodded, arms wrapped cozily around Hiyori’s chubby stomach. “You should try applying some makeup on Rinne-senpai! And then I can do yours, okay? And Rinne-senpai can do Kanata-kun’s, that sounds good, doesn’t it?”
Gently prying Kanata off, Hiyori sprung up and went to the bathroom, retrieving a bunch of makeup supplies before setting them down on the table. Madara blinked a few times and then laughed, scratching the back of his head. “I dunno how, I ain’t a makeup kinda guy. You’ll hafta show me first.”
“Allow your dearest Rinne-kun to show ya!” Rinne interjected, crawling away from Madara and snatching up the makeup, positioning himself between Kanata’s legs. The blue-haired idol leaned forward, and Hiyori sat with Madara, pressed against his right side as she pointed at the things Rinne did and criticized them. “No, no, don’t start with its blush there–” Hiyori protested, waving a bit only for Rinne to shrug it off. “Stop backseat makeup-ing! Kanacchi loves my makeup, you can show Mikeneko-chan allllll the makeup tips ya want when you’re doing his makeup instead!”
As Rinne applied amateur makeup– Worse than Kanata’s work on Hiyori in terms of refinement, but applied pretty smoothly in terms of literal clumpiness at least– Madara watched him, enamored. Hiyori crawled behind Madara, laying over his back and resting her chin on his shoulder, staring at her roommates with love in her eyes as well. “Pretty cute, aren’t they?” Hiyori murmured, and Madara nodded, cheeks heating up slightly from the proximity mixed with his feelings for Rinne.
“Yeah. He’s a real stubborn li’l fox, ain’t he?”
“You have no idea! What a pain, what a pain… But, he gets away with it.” The noble hummed happily, drumming his fingers idly on Madara’s thigh. It was a simple, innocent touch. A little flirty, but not unwelcome. Madara ruffled Hiyori’s hair gently, snorting as Rinne fumbled the blush and dropped the powder tray in Kanata’s lap.
“Ah– Chief-san, be ‘careful’…” Kanata scolded lightly, its brows furrowing as it handed the blush back. The redhead rubbed the back of his neck, looking awkward. “Yeah, sorry. Almost done, though! Then you’ll get to see Rinne-kun’s hard work!”
True to Rinne’s promise, it wasn’t long before Kanata’s makeup was finished. It was obvious from the style that Rinne wasn’t overly familiar with makeup application or techniques, but he’d clearly had practice on touching up his own stage makeup or something of the sort, Madara mused. The eyeshadow color he chose was a nice blue, a bit bold for an otherwise casual look, but not bad considering Kanata’s tastes. Rinne seemed pretty naturally gifted at picking up new skills. It made Madara feel endeared to the older man.
“Good work, Rinne-san!” Madara clapped and whistled, causing a blush from Rinne. Hiyori leaned in close to inspect Kanata’s face, then nodded approvingly. “It’s rather good, I suppose. Though, you could use some more practice! Or perhaps some lessons, should I book you some? It may be worthwhile…” He trailed off as Kanata leaned in close, pecking Hiyori’s cheek to settle down his criticisms.
“Anyway, let Madara-kun do Rinne-senpai’s makeup now!” She sputtered uncharacteristically, blushing and pulling back, allowing them to shift their positions around. Rinne sat on the floor between the L shaped part of the couch, and Madara sat on his knees in front of him, while Hiyori and Kanata sat at the far end of the couch to watch.
Madara began to apply Rinne’s makeup, oddly skilled at it, giving him a look that just accentuated his natural features. Rinne wouldn’t close his eyes through the entire process, not until Madara prompted him heavily, going so far as to manually start closing his eyelids.
“You just so attracted to Mama that ya can’t stop lookin’ at ‘im?” Madara teased lightly, applying some light eyeshadow to Rinne’s eyes. Rinne hummed a little, waiting for Madara to finish with his eyes before nodding and grinning. “Yeah, why? Did it take you that long to notice?” He flirted back, raising an eyebrow. Madara just laughed, and Hiyori rolled his eyes, jeering a little.
“We get it, you two have a thing for one another, alright?” He remarked, and Madara could only laugh more at the comment. He continued to put makeup onto Rinne, ensuring that his deep set eyes were drawn out and flattered, and Rinne slowly embraced the fluttery feeling in his gut at Madara’s hands ghosting his face.
Before long, Madara was finally done, but his hands lingered around Rinne’s face for just a bit longer. Just a little longer than they needed to. Green eyes stared into blue ones, and he lightly tapped Rinne’s cheek affectionately before withdrawing.
“There ya go! Mama special!” He declared triumphantly, offering a mirror to Rinne for him to see his makeup. Rinne admired the handiwork of the brown-haired idol, offering a wide grin in return. “Mama special indeed, real nice! Maybe I oughta hire you for our next Crazy:B live…” He mused, making faces in the mirror.
“Yeah, yeah, you ain’t gotta flatter me. I’m just happy ta put some makeup on such a good-lookin’ guy that ain’t just lookin’ back at me in my bathroom mirror!” Madara chirped, simultaneously managing to flirt and stroke his own ego in the same breath. Anything to seem cool and collected.
“Alright, alright, my turn! It’s my turn to show you all how magnificently I can do makeup! And then I can give lessons to you poor souls afterwards, okay?” Hiyori interrupted, scrambling across the couch and gesturing for Madara to get up on the couch as well. Obediently, Madara hoisted himself up on to the cushion while Rinne pulled himself up and sat with Kanata, wrapping his arms around it and intertwining their bodies in a ridiculous cuddle pile.
“Never thought I’d have my makeup done by the guy who jumped off a roof, just tryna ensure his brother’s safety. Almost thought you’d break yer knees that day, y’know?” Madara hummed, and Hiyori just laughed. Shaking her head, she took the makeup from Rinne, then grabbed some moisturizer from the bag and began to apply it gently to Madara’s face. She wrinkled her nose slightly when she realized he had stubble that had somehow gone unnoticed, caught off guard by the feeling of it beneath her fingers.
“Things don’t always go as we plan, isn’t that right? I was also worried about that, you know? I was quite worried about your gun, as well!” She mused, patting his face as the moisturizer set in.
“Gun?!” Rinne repeated incredulously, and Madara chuckled. “Yeah, Hiyori-san an’ I… We’ve been in some situations, ain’t we?” Kanata blinked, seeming rather unfazed by this news while Rinne’s jaw hung open.
“I suppose we have!” Hiyori agreed, starting with eyeshadow and entirely skipping over foundation or anything that would provide massive coverage. “I’m going to give you a nice casual look that ought to suit you nicely, alright, Madara-kun? Stay still!” He instructed, and Rinne watched attentively while Kanata played with his hair idly.
“Ya got nice hands.” Madara commented, and Hiyori flushed, glancing away for a moment and earning a snicker from Rinne. “He’s right, princess! Real soft skin.” The redhead chimed in, and all Hiyori could do was roll his eyes and continue putting on the eyeshadow. “I’m glad you two like my hands.”
With that, Hiyori began to make idle chatter about her process to the others, hoping her wisdom would be passed on and that perhaps they’d all become magically good at makeup. As she smoothed out the eyeshadow, applied a small bit of eyeliner, and drew out Madara’s natural rosy cheeks, she narrated it all. Rinne, surprisingly, began to ask questions as if he were really trying to learn more, but Kanata stared at him knowingly– It understood that he was just trying to listen to Hiyori talk more.
When everyone’s makeup was finished and admired, the four of them tucked into their respective ‘beds’, put on some random cheesy rom-com that Madara had brought, and watched it until they all passed out in an almost-cuddle-pile together.
