The house on the Elbe was impressive enough. There was no need to make a fuss about her garden. Leander rolled his eyes at Konstanze's boast that she was going to redesign her rose garden and the flower arrangements around the property. She could plant as many daisies and daffodils as she wanted. This place will always be as cold as her heart.  

His eyes darted from the row of lilac bushes to Konstanze's quiet cousin. Though the Abbé had to keep it a secret, to him Sophie was the most beautiful flower of all. She deserved praise... and love.
