Work Text:
Chris the Zorua and Chrissy the Zoroark looked on at the fallen Zoroark whom the little regular Zorua called "Meema". Chris couldn't help but feel emotionally shaken at the feeling of loss that the Zorua was feeling. The loss of their adopted mother.
Chris couldn't think of any words to comfort the little Zorua. Chrissy couldn't think of anything either. It was a silent scenario.
The little Zorua snuggled into his fallen mother's cheek and begged for her to awaken. Nothing. No response. Her body was limp.
Kodai sat and watched the scene with no regret in his eyes and he dashed towards an exit in hopes of avoiding consequences. Behind him, however, there was the sound of knuckles cracking. It wasn't a moment until Kodai noticed it was Karl, ready to lay a beating into him.
Kodai tried to chuckle it off. "Can't we just say that it was an accident and move on?" His words were as truthful as a corporate apology. "She's probably not even--"
Karl gripped Kodai's neck and began mercilessly beating his face in. A few punches in, however, Chrissy yelled for Karl to stop. "He's not worth it," Chrissy said, "Let him go."
Karl released Kodai and the business bigot ran towards the entrance to the Pokemon Baccer stadium in fear.
Chris couldn't bear to watch the little Zorua sobbing, pleading for his mother to wake up and for this to all just be a nightmare that he just wants to wake up from. He slowly walked over to the little one and whispered a soft apology.
The little Zorua slumped to the ground as a crying mess. Chris put a paw on his back to try and comfort them in any way that he could. Chrissy just stared in awe.
Then she looked over at the fallen Zoroark, and she couldn't help but feel an ounce of respect and admiration for Meema. She risked everything to protect her child, much like how Chrissy herself would risk her own life to save Chris the Zorua at any cost. Now, Meema was gone, and the little Zorua that Chris was comforting would probably need to learn how to live life as an orphan.
Suddenly, Glodis the Globarbian slithered in, breaking up the moment. "Earthlings! I have found the Earthling Celebi!" Glodis carried an unconscious Celebi in their arms. Almost immediately, Chrissy ran over and picked up Celebi from the Globarbian and ran over to the time ripple. She tossed Celebi inside without hesitation.
A beat.
Then, almost as if by magic, Celebi flew out of the time ripple, freshly healed and flying with confidence. Glodis was overjoyed to see it, but Chrissy was more-so overjoyed to see the first act of kindness that Celebi performed: Healing the fallen Meema.
As the time ripple's energy made its way from Celebi's small hands to Meema's body, the Zoroark who had fallen to save her child had begun to stir, getting the sobbing Zorua's attention.
"...Meema?" The little Zorua felt fresh tears form in his eyes as his adoptive mother nodded in response. The little Zorua jumped into the motherly Zoroark's arms and began laughing and crying at the same time. It was beautiful.
Chris the Zorua couldn't help but shed a small tear himself. Glodis smiled. Karl gave a thumbs-up, and Chrissy let out a sigh of relief. Celebi flew around, overjoyed.
“I knew you were strong, Meema! I knew it!” The little Zorua happily exclaimed.
