A Pregnant Pause

Summary:

Xion sits down to rest, because pregnant people tend to need to do that. Isa joins her, since he's the one who got her pregnant, after all.

Notes:

Prompt:
I need Xion to be pregnant. I don't care who gets her pregnant or how she gets pregnant as long as it's not because of noncon, dubcon, incest, or lolicon/shotacon. I just need her pregnant.

-

I hope you enjoy this WAFF, prompter!

Work Text:

Xion groans as she sits down on the edge of their bed, moving too quickly for it to be entirely comfortable on her. It’s been five, almost six months total, though of course she wasn’t aware of it for the first couple of those, and she’s still getting used to the way her body has changed already.

Apparently she’s bigger than average for being this far along, though she’s not exactly around too many pregnant people in her daily life, so she couldn’t say; maybe it just seems that way because of her own small size. Once she’d hoped to be as tall as Lea, but now she’s accepted that she’s been as big as she’s ever going to get almost since she was created.

Of course, Isa is much bigger than her… she wonders how much that affects the growth of the baby inside her. After all, people tend to be the size of their parents put together.

She thinks. Parents are another thing she doesn’t exactly have personal experience with.

Being pregnant is nice, though. Even though her back is starting to ache all the time, and standing sometimes makes her dizzy, and her weight is positioned in a weird way that leans slightly forward over her center of balance. Whatever stumbling blocks may come with it, she constantly feels like she’s glowing.

She can feel the new life growing inside of her. And that’s amazing! Knowing that she’s making a tiny person, the best of herself and Isa mixed together. Every moment she’s aware of the swell of her belly makes her excited for the future, and she’s reached a point where she’s always aware of her belly.

“Look at you. The picture of beauty,” Isa greets as he comes into the room, unusually warm. Maybe her glow is rubbing off on him. But then, she had discovered this side of him before she got pregnant; that’s why she chose to have this baby with him. His baby. It’s not a side to him that most people ever get to see, and it’s special, and she cherishes it in every day spent together.

She giggles, holding out her hands for his as he approaches. When he takes them, they’re as naturally cool as always; the familiar feeling is like moonshine on her skin. “Look at you. The picture of handsomeness.”

He bends down at the waist and gives her a slow, tender kiss, his lips lingering against hers. Everything he does is always so intentional, deliberate in each move, which makes his affections feel even sweeter — purposeful in the way that he chooses to love her.

When the kiss breaks, she bumps her nose against his. “Now one for the baby.”

“Of course,” he says, and he sinks down onto one knee before her like a knight swearing devotion. She lets go of his hands, and he pushes up her shirt to bare the bump of which she’s so proud, and he kisses her there too, soft against the taut skin of her stomach. He rests his palms, fingers spread, on either side of her belly, applying light pressure that feels so incredibly good. “How are you both feeling?”

“Even better, now that you’re here,” Xion replies sweetly, cupping his face in her hands as she looks down at him, her thumbs making circles on the rise of his cheeks.

“And you can’t help but to be your charming self.” Isa smiles up at her. That rare, wonderful smile that’s just for her. His hands move up and down, gently caressing the curve of her pregnant belly. It excites him too, even if he’s much more subtle about it than she is. That they’re going to be parents. There’s just not really that many people having kids right now, even if Radiant Garden is a haven, and so even in a social sense it’s a significant event. Everyone around them is excited for it too.

Of course, in private, he also gets excited in ways that other people don’t. Excited that she’s pregnant. Excited by her bump. Excited by the fact that it’s his baby she’s carrying. It makes her feel exciting, attractive, desirable — not in spite of her changing body, but because of it.

(The time when they were only making themselves get along for Lea’s sake feels so very, very long ago that she almost can’t remember it anymore.)

“And you can’t help but sweep me off my feet.” She takes him by the hands and gives them a gentle tug, pulling him forward so that he’s leaning over her and so that she can wrap her arms around his neck.

“I think it’s the baby that’s got you bedridden right now, actually.” He wraps his arms around her waist, his knee against the side of the bed for balance.

“The baby you put into me,” Xion teases flirtatiously, planting a kiss to his jaw. “In case you forgot.”

“Oh, trust me — I could never forget that.” The tone of Isa’s voice is downright purring with satisfaction. “Are you asking for a repeat performance? A demonstration of exactly how that happened?”

A laugh, and she blows in his face. Childish, playful. Loving. Like she hasn’t been just as excitable lately. “I want you to join me in bed for a nap, actually.”

“I wouldn’t mind that, either,” Isa says, and that’s how she knows he really loves her, because he’s willing to put everything on hold and actually do nothing with her, in spite of his need to always be busy. She tries to reciprocate and keep active with him, of course, but it’s getting harder the bigger she gets, and now more than ever she’s grateful that he always does his best to meet her halfway.

She kisses his lips, moving back into the bed and pulling him along with her as she lays down. He shifts as they move, to ease himself down next to her, and draws her against himself. Now, more than she’s ever been, she’s comfortable.
