Chapter Text
Midoriya Izuku was tired of the treatment he got from school and after enduring the abuse for years even before he started going to middle school. He was beaten, humiliated, taunted and scolded for anything even if he wasn’t even involved.
He was sick of it.
So he did the only thing that he could do. He Begged his mum to let him move schools. She agreed the moment he showed the multiple burn scars and bruises. He didn’t tell her that Kacchan—Bakugou was the cause of most of them because he didn’t want to ruin their mother’s friendship.
The first day of his new school was strange to say the least. They asked him to introduce himself with his name, aspirations and why he wanted to do it in the future. No mention of quirk or anything like that.
After the first two classes it was break. He decided to spend time looking around at the other students and perhaps ask about anyone who caught his attention.
Then he saw someone at the corner of his eye. The person had auburn hair decorated with light green flowers, forest green eyes, wearing the standard uniform for girls with a navy blue blazer matching knee length skirt and a navy blue and gold tie, but that was not what drew his attention it was the fact that her green skin looked like it was stitched together, he was pretty sure that he could see actual ribs underneath the blazer.
He then turned to some of the girls passing by. “Hey do you guys know who the girl with the auburn hair and green stitched skin is?” He asked.
The girls looked slightly fearful but also very cautious. Then one of the girls spoke in a hushed tone “That’s Cleo Nekyia. She has the power to revive the dead as her minions. People said she murdered others to make them her servants.”
Another girl chimed in with the same hushed tone “She’s also just genuinely mean and intimidating.” Okay that felt weird to Izuku so he thanked the girls and waited until they left to enact his plan to see if the girls were being biased or not.
His plan being to introduce himself to Cleo and see for himself if she was genuinely mean or just playing it up. So he walked over to the girl.
As he walked into her line of sight, he froze. Cleo just stared at him, scrutinising him with a gaze so sharp it physically hurt his head. As Cleo looked him up and down her frown lifted to a small smile that was barely visible. Her eyes while looking dead held something akin to satisfaction.
“You’re new here right? No one comes this close to me if you’ve been here for more than a week. so it must be your first day, huh?” Cleo stated.
“Yeah it’s my first day since I transferred schools because of being severely bullied…” he said truthfully but was cut off by Cleo.
“Because you’re Quirkless right?” Cleo interrupted.
“Yeah… how did you know?” He asked, after all he hadn’t said anything about it in class and no one had asked him about it nor had the teachers told anyone. So how?
“If you’re wondering how I know, it’s because of your shoes. They have a certain branding that says the wearer is quirkless and the shoes are bright red.” Cleo stated like it was just a regular comment.
“Although not many people know about that fact. Hell I only do because I make clothes for extra money some even for Quirkless people.” Cleo said, making him relax slightly.
He decided to change the topic slightly. “So I heard about your Quirk from others but I’m sure that they were wrong about your use of it and your intention. So maybe I could hear your view of your Quirk?” He asked.
Cleo’s eyes held slight apprehension at the mention of the rumours of her Quirk. She answered anyway with even a bit of nonchalant in her tone. “Well my Quirk allows me to revive the dead and command them whenever I need to. I can summon them anywhere once I revive them but if they are destroyed it takes me five minutes for me to summon them again. Side effects of my Quirk include looking like a zombie, being technically dead, and having some sort of bloodlust.”
“Wow! That’s actually really cool! Could you explain the bloodlust?” He asked after all that honestly didn’t seem to make sense in his mind.
“Sure. The Bloodlust is linked to my mental state. The more stable, the less bloodlust and the less stable means more bloodlust. It is very easy to see my mental state depending on what colour my flowers are. Green means stable. Yellow means slight hostility. Red means that the bloodlust has taken over and that you should probably run. Same with my carved heart in my chest.” Cleo explained with… something in her eyes that he couldn’t name.
He hung out with Cleo from that day forward. They mostly spent time at his house. His mother was ecstatic that ‘he brought a girl home’ to which Cleo replied with ‘unfortunately I am a zombie and gender doesn’t matter nor apply to me.’
A month after their first meeting, another new person joined the school. He had purple hair and eyes with concerningly dark eye bags. He apparently was using his quirk on other students. They didn’t think much of it until the boy tried to do it to Cleo.
The boy had asked Cleo a question about the school and Cleo stilled for a split second with her eyes glazed over before going back to normal and answering the question. Needless to say that the boy was very surprised.
“H-How?! You broke out of my Mind Control Quirk!” The boy said.
Cleo eyes, flowers and probably heart turned yellow but she still answered “Simple it was my natural spiteful nature to be free and my stronger Will that allowed me to break free it was not even hard!”
The boy then went on a rant about how he had such a villainous quirk and how the two of them probably had heroic quirks and didn’t know what it was like. They had cut him off by laughing. Cleo then said that her quirk was literally raising the dead as her minions. He then said he was quirkless. The boy stood there stunned.
“So! Friends?” He asked, holding his hand out.
“Friends…” the boy said, putting his hand out to shake Izuku’s.
A few weeks go by before Cleo pulls the two of them aside with a crazy idea and a smile that screams trouble. Whatever she has planned was going to be a wild ride.
“So Izuku, I know you want to be a hero and I’ve got a plan for you.” Cleo started.
“But I’m Quirkless. How could I be a hero? Sure UA got rid of the Quirkless ban but how could I compete with everyone else.” He interrupted.
“Well we could also fake a quirk.” Cleo said way too casually.
“Excuse me… WHAT!” Shinsou exclaimed.
“Well it’s simple enough. You’re extremely smart and incredibly talented at Analysis of Quirks. I could design your shoes to make it look like ordinary shoes. Shinsou could brainwash people to get your medical files changed or we could just say that your quirk came in late and that the files hadn’t been updated yet.” Cleo explained.
“You really thought about this, huh?” He said.
“Well? Do you want to do it?” She asked.
“Hell yes.” He confirmed.
