“If only you could sell us something worth while.”
Scraps said backhandedly, facing away from the star of the show. Dandy looked to her companions. Sprout gave a reluctant shrug. Tisha completely avoided eye contact. And Goob gave a hesitant smile, small scratches obviously littering his body. He gripped the red, shiny lever, pulling it back with a force that made Goob flinch.
“You’ll regret this.”
He mutters under his breath, his teeth clenched. He disappears under the floor, the trapdoor closing on him, as per usual. Scraps turned around, her stance loosening. She prepared herself for another grueling floor.
Scraps pulled the spare bandage she had out of her pocket, applying it to the deep scratch on his arm.
“Does this help?
Scraps asked, awaiting Goob for a response. He nodded slowly.
“I’m just tired, sis. I don’t know how much longer I can run in circles for.”
He admitted, slumping against the wall. Scraps patted his shoulder.
“Just a couple more floors, little bro. And once we’re done, we won’t have to do it again for a while.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
Goob wraps his arms around his older sister, giving her a hug.
“Just do the machines a bit quicker, huh?”
He ask Scraps, before releasing her. She chuckles.
“Those things are quite finicky. You should see for yourself.”
She’s promptly interrupted by Sprout, and the stray melody of a distorted music box.
“Wait. Do you guys here that?”
Sprout asks, as the elevator creaks open. Goob nods, running out to check out the twisteds. The rest follow suit, splitting into the different hallways to find machines. Scraps enters the dining area, and as she looks to her left, her jaw falls slack. It’s Dandy, but… grotesquely different. His petals are almost drained of their color, and his entire body covered from head to toe in that ichor that they sort out to collect. Not to mention the size of him, about, like, 10x bigger than them all. Scraps bites her tongue, wasting no time in staring in horror at her old friend, quickly turning the handle, praying Goob can hold on long enough.
Scraps hears the ding of the final machine being completed, and the crickety elevator door opening up. She runs as fast her legs can take her, passed by Sprout and Tisha, grappling to Tisha. She crashes into Tisha, looking back to see her little brother, struggling to run. He pants heavily, looking up at Scraps. She stands up, giving him
“COME ON, GOOB! YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!”
She shouts to him. Goob tries to run, but he trips. He tries to get up, but he’s pinned down by Dandy. Before he can even scream, Dandy rips his head out, his blood pooling from the fatal injury. Scraps falls to her knees in horror, as the elevator door closes, the last thing she sees of the abomination being its wicked smile.
“Oh my god…”
Tisha says weakly, covering her mouth with her hand. Sprout vomits in the corner of the elevator. Scraps hangs her head, tears streaming down her face. She can’t believe it. She physically cannot will herself to believe her sweet little brother is dead, his life stripped from him by a monster. It feels like every muscle in her body is convulsing, every part of her soul screaming. Everything goes silent as she hears the familiar sound of Dandy’s shop arising from the floor. She turns her head to Dandy, who has an awkward smile on his face.
“So… gonna buy anything now?”
He asks, to which he’s met with a death stare. Scraps stands to her feet, her claws tightening as she hyper fixates on him. She rushes forward, slamming her claws on the table, getting in his face. Tears stream freely down her face. Sprout and Tisha look on with horror.
“I’M GONNA KILL YOU!”
Pure, unbridled rage comes out in the form of her words, as she stares Dandy dead in the eyes, her eyes wide and broken.
“HOW DARE YOU TAKE MY LITTLE BROTHER FROM ME!”
With nothing left to lose, she lunges at Dandy, before she is quickly pulled back by Sprout. She thrashes and screams, her broken heart slowly revealing itself. She reaches out, no logner staring at Dandy.
“I’LL BE THE LAST THING THAT YOU SEE! DO YOU HEAR ME?!”
All she’s met with is a regretful stare from Dandy. He pulls his lever, slowly descending into the floor below. Scraps sobs, her form decomposing by the minute. Once full of anger, she’s overtaken by grief and sadness. Scrap and Tisha try their best to comfort her, but it’s not enough. Nothing can ease the pain of losing her little brother.
