When Byleth got to the monastery, Edelgard was also there. They talked a little about why Byleth was there and what she’d been doing for the last five years, and then Edelgard asked Byleth to join her.
“All that matters is this… Will you return to the Empire with me?”
“I don’t know,” Byleth replied. “Before I fell asleep five years ago, the Empire was trying to kill us. If I go to the Empire, I don’t know if people are going to try to kill me again.”
Edelgard winced. “Ah, I apologize for that. And I’m sorry to say that the conflict has continued. The Empire is still at war with a lot of the rest of Fódlan.”
“Then yeah, I imagine the imperial capital probably isn’t the safest place to be. I guess I’ll just go somewhere far away from any capitals or important strongholds or anything.”
“Yes, that’s probably a good idea,” Edelgard agreed.
