Chapter Text
She didn’t understand Meliodas at all. He was too nice. He didn’t even know her. He obviously was after her body and he proved it several times by groping her in different places as if it was nothing. Not a single apology! No sign of remorse! He did it as if it was the most natural thing! It didn’t matter how hard she hit him (if she managed to hit him because he was good at dodging). It has only been a day since she was captured but she knew by now he would do it again at any given time.
She was saved by him when she was cought by the kingdom of Danafor and supposed to be executed. But for what price? There was something wrong with him, there was no way he would save her in a situation like that if there was nothing in for him. There was no way she could ever trust him.
“Dig in!”, her savior said after he served her some “food”. She couldn’t determine what exactly it was he was serving her, she only knew she wasn’t going to eat it.
Liz was unavoidably staying at Meliodas’ place. His comrades were understandably just as wary of her as she was of Meliodas and them, she was a knight of an enemy kingdom after all. Being here, being treated normally, like any comrade, by this man was more stressful than being kept in a prison like the prisoner she was, but he refused to lock her away.
He was staring at her, waiting for her to start eating.
“I’m still not gonna eat this”, Liz stated stubbornly. He had offered her food soon after she got here, but she feared there was something wrong with it and didn’t touch it. Little had she known that it could get worse. Now it looked like the meal was stretching one of its hands out to her and she stepped back with disgust and a tiny bit of fear on her face.
He sighed, took the plate and threw whatever was on it into the trash bin.
“Figures”, he mumbled. For a moment she felt bad. No matter what his plans were, he went out of his way to make something for her and she suddenly had the urge to comfort him. But before she could manage to shake of this feeling he switched to his typical grin, as if nothing happened.
“I got no choice then! You must be hungry, so I will ask some of the neighbors if they can share something!”
“Eh?”, she said. He went outside by himself and when he came back he brought some bread with jam and cheese, stew and even some meat buns. She didn’t want to admit it but she was hungry and it looked delicious. So there were people who’d gladly share their food with a man like this… and with her ultimately.
Meliodas looked at her expectantly and she dug in - hesitating, but she decided it couldn’t get any worse. And it was good.
Maybe it happened because she didn’t eat anything since her infiltration mission started, maybe the fact that she, as a slave, never ate much in general was part of the reason too, or maybe it was just because the food was so good that she couldn’t help herself smiling more brightly with every bite she took.
“You finally smiled”
“I didn’t!”, Liz retorted. He grinned at her knowingly which at the same time made her blush and angry because she felt cought in the act.
Maybe he wasn’t such a bad person after all. But she’d have to stick around for a bit, just to make sure.
