The city lights flickered outside the window of the agency’s break room, the hum of late-night traffic a steady backdrop. Bakugou leaned against the counter, arms crossed, his hair still a little damp from the rain. Uraraka flopped down onto the couch with a dramatic groan, throwing an arm over her eyes.
"You gonna die on me, Round Face?" he snorted.
Without moving, she grinned. "Maybe. That last villain was a pain in the ass. You’re welcome, by the way. I totally saved you back there."
Bakugou scoffed, pushing off the counter. "You wish. I had that under control."
"Sure you did, Dynamight." She peeked up at him through her lashes, the corner of her mouth twitching up. She knew exactly what she was doing.
His eye twitched. "Stop smirking at me, unless you want a fight."
She burst out laughing, and for a second, his glare faltered — because goddamn it, she was cute when she laughed. And she knew it.
Later, when the teasing was done and the room had gone quiet, Bakugou sat beside her, staring out at the city.
"You were badass out there, Uraraka," he muttered, almost like it hurt to say.
She blinked, sitting up a little. "What was that? Care to repeat it for the people in the back?"
He sighed through his nose, refusing to look at her.
"I said... you're the strongest woman I’ve ever met. Always have been."
Her chest tightened, heat rising to her cheeks. She bumped his shoulder with hers. "And you're not so bad yourself, Katsuki."
He grunted, but the small, rare smile he gave her after was enough to make her heart stutter.
A few months later
A late-night rooftop, high above the city. The stars barely visible beyond the city lights, but Uraraka didn’t care — it was peaceful here. Bakugou leaned against the railing beside her, arms resting lazily on the cool metal.
"Dumbass, where is your jacket, you’ll catch a cold out here," he grumbled, glancing sideways at her.
"I left it inside but I'm to lazy to go get it so you’ll just have to give me yours," she teased, a soft smirk on her lips.
He snorted, but the corners of his mouth twitched up. Moments like this had become their thing — sneaking away from the noise, letting the world fall away.
She shivered slightly in the breeze, and without a word, Bakugou tugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"Thanks," she murmured, pulling it tighter around herself. It smelled like him — smoke and spice and something that always made her chest ache in the best way.
For a while, neither of them spoke, just watching the lights below. And then, in a voice quieter than usual, Bakugou spoke.
"I… been thinkin’," he started, fiddling with the zipper on his hoodie. "‘Bout… what comes next. After all this hero shit."
Uraraka’s heart skipped. She turned to look at him, his face half-shadowed, eyes on the city but unfocused.
"I ain’t ever thought I’d wanna… y’know… settle down. Have a home. Maybe a few kids someday." He scoffed, as if laughing at himself. "Always figured I didn’t have room for that. Too busy trying to be Number One."
She reached for his hand without thinking, threading her fingers through his. He squeezed back, tight.
"And now I can’t stop thinkin’ about it," he admitted, his voice rough, like the words scraped on their way out. "But… part of me feels like a goddamn bastard for it. ‘Cause Izuku—"
He swallowed hard. "I know he had feelings for you. And I always thought you… y’know. Felt the same."
A soft laugh escaped her, and he shot her a confused, almost hurt look. But she squeezed his hand tighter.
"Katsuki," she said gently, stepping in front of him. "You idiot. All those times you thought I was staring at Deku? I was looking at you."
His eyes widened, something breaking loose in his chest.
"I had a crush on you all through U.A. But I knew you weren’t ready. You had too many walls up, too much anger. I told myself it wasn’t the right time."
She smiled, a little shy but certain. "But I always knew… somehow… you’d be the one I married."
Bakugou’s throat worked, eyes glinting with something soft and overwhelmed. Without thinking, he pulled her against his chest, burying his face in her hair.
"Dumbass," he whispered, voice cracking. "I fuckin’ love you."
"Good," she murmured, smiling into his chest. "‘Cause I love you too."
One year later
It was stupid how nervous he felt. Katsuki Bakugou — Pro Hero Dynamight, number two in the damn rankings — pacing like a restless animal outside Izuku’s apartment door.
He could go toe-to-toe with any villain without blinking. But this? This was harder.
He clenched and unclenched his fists, thinking of Ochako’s smile, the way she fell asleep on his shoulder after long shifts. And how for years, he shoved those feelings down, convinced he didn’t deserve to want anything good.
And part of him still felt like he didn’t.
Finally, he knocked.
The door opened, and Izuku's face lit up in surprise. “Kacchan? What’s up?”
Bakugou shoved his hands in his pockets, looking everywhere but at him.
"Need to talk."
A short while later, they were sitting on Izuku’s balcony, cans of cold coffee between them. The city buzzed in the distance.
For a long time, Bakugou said nothing. Izuku waited.
"You knew I was a piece of shit back at U.A.," Bakugou started, his voice low. "I… I hurt you. I know that. I spent years tryna make up for it, and maybe I never really can."
Izuku’s gaze softened. “Kacchan—”
"Lemme finish." He scrubbed a hand down his face. "And now, I feel like I’m takin’ somethin’ else from you. ‘Cause… me and Ochako… we’ve been together for a while now."
The words hung heavy in the air. Bakugou stared out at the city like it might swallow him.
"I know you had feelings for her. Back then. Hell, maybe you still do. And I— I stayed away for years because of it. Because it felt like I had no right. Not after everything. Not after what I did to you."
Izuku was quiet, his expression unreadable. And then… he laughed. A soft, fond little sound.
"I knew," he said, smiling. "I always knew it’d be you."
Bakugou blinked. "Huh?"
Izuku leaned back against the railing, staring up at the faint stars. "It was obvious. In the way you yelled at her for stealing your food while literally putting extra on her plate. I saw it in how she always knew when you were about to lose your temper and could calm you down without even trying."
He smiled. "I knew she loved you, too. Even when we were kids. It wasn’t me she looked at like that. It was you."
Bakugou’s chest tightened. "I still feel like a dick about it."
"Yeah, well… you kinda are," Izuku teased, nudging his arm. "But you’re my brother too, Kacchan. And I’m happy for you. I mean it."
Bakugou let out a long, shaky breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.
"Thanks, nerd."
"Anytime, Katsuki."
They clinked their cans together and drank, a silent understanding settling between them like the quiet after a storm.
And for the first time in years, Bakugou felt lighter.
A few hours later
Bakugou unlocked the door to their apartment, still feeling the ghost of tension in his chest — but also relief. The talk with Izuku had gone better than he could’ve hoped. It felt like a weight had finally been lifted off his shoulders. And now… now he could do what he should’ve done a long time ago.
He stepped inside, kicking his boots off.
"Oi, I’m home," he called out.
From the kitchen, Uraraka popped her head out, hair a little messy, eyes wide like a deer in headlights.
"Katsuki," she blurted, rushing over. "We need to talk."
"Good. ‘Cause so do I," he shot back without missing a beat.
They both stared at each other, blinking.
"You first?" she asked.
"Nah, you."
"No — you."
"Dammit, Ochako, just say it!"
She let out a sharp breath, wringing her hands. "Okay, okay — uh, so… after you left earlier, I wasn’t feeling great, so i thought I’d take a test to be safe and uh… turns out I’m pregnant."
The world tilted for a second.
"…Huh?"
She winced, watching his face carefully. "Yeah. Like… baby.." She pointed at her stomach awkwardly. "Here"
Bakugou’s brain short-circuited for a full five seconds. Then, to her absolute horror and shock, he laughed. A short, disbelieving bark of a laugh.
"What the hell are you laughing at?!"
He grabbed her face in both hands, pressing a rough, giddy kiss to her forehead.
"Because I was literally about to ask you to marry me tonight,!"
Her jaw dropped. "Wait — what?!"
Bakugou pulled a small, slightly dented box out of his pocket. "Went to talk to Izuku. Told him everything. He gave his blessing or whatever. And now… now we’re gonna have a kid? Guess I’m locking this shit down."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she laughed, half-sobbing, and smacked his chest. "You absolute idiot."
"Your idiot," he grinned, catching her hand and sliding the ring onto her finger.
She looked down at it — simple, silver, perfect — then back at him. "Damn right you are."
They kissed, fierce and messy and happy, both laughing through it.
"You realize our kid’s gonna be an absolute menace, right?" she teased.
"Takes after their old man," he smirked.
"And their badass mom."
"Hell yeah."
