Work Text:
22 year old Sonia Keller was about to receive her bachelors degree in history from Louisiana State University.
But one night her phone rang. It was her mother Pamela calling to tell her “Chester committed suicide this afternoon.”
Her 12 year old brother Chester jumped off the roof of his school at 3:30 PM.
It was a dark stormy Thursday night. She knew she’d leave tomorrow morning. The funeral is Sunday morning.
She called her friend Tammy and told her she would not make the Friday night party.
After that phone call she felt pure darkness float above her.
She felt the darkness float above her after suicide notification.
The next morning was the worst Friday of her life. It was 7AM and she walked up to her car. She had two hours to get to the airport and catch her flight back to Memphis Tennessee.
She dropped to her knees and began singing.
“Lay beside me, tell me what they’ve done. Speak the words I want to hear, to make my demons run. The door is locked now but it’s opened if you’re true.”
“If you can understand the me then I can understand the you. Lay beside me under wicked sky. Through black of day, dark of night, we share this paralyze.”
“The door cracks open but there’s no sun shining through.
Black heart scarring darker still, but there’s no sun shining through.
No there’s no sun shining through. No there’s no sun shining.”
“What I’ve felt, what I’ve known, turn the pages, turn the stone. Behind the door should I open it for you?”
“What I’ve felt, what I’ve known, sick and tired I stand alone. Could you be there?”
“Cause I’m the one who waits for you, or are you unforgiven too?”
“Come lay beside me, this won’t hurt I swear. She loves me not, she loves me still, but she’ll never love again. She lay beside me but she’ll be there when I’m gone.”
“Black heart scarring darker still, yes, she’ll be there when I’m gone, Yes, she’ll be there when I’m gone. Dead sure she’ll be there.”
“What I’ve felt, what I’ve known. Turn the pages, turn the stone. Behind the door, should I open it for you?”
“What I’ve felt, what I’ve known. Sick and tired, I stand alone. Could you be there? Cause I’m the one who waits for you, or are you unforgiven too?”
“Lay beside me, tell me what I’ve done. The door is closed, so are your eyes.”
Soon she was interrupted by a campus police officer who told her he recognized the song. She explained that her brother committed suicide and that was a song they used to sing together.
The campus police officer gave her a hug. She explained to him that she had to be on an airplane very soon.
After the campus police officer left Chad Richardson came by.
He said “well Tammy told me about your brother. Your brother was a loser and so are you!”
As Chad walked away Sonia jumped in her car and started it up. She took off and as Chad continued walking she hit the gas.
“AHHHHH” screamed Chad and he was soon unconscious because Sonia ran his ass over.
“You’re unforgiven too motherfucker!”
The End
