Getting used to Annabeth has been… hard for Nico, to say the least. It’s complicated. He doesn’t try to make it complicated.
He finds it difficult to connect with her, despite everything they’ve been through. Maybe it’s the way Annabeth thinks, maybe it’s the awkwardness Nico feels from having had feelings for Percy in the past.
They’re friends now, though. Nico likes calling her a friend.
Annabeth offers him a smile, sitting next to him.
Nico’s mouth twitches slightly.
“I’m here for you, too.” Hesitant, but true. Nico grips the hilt of his sword, nods, and finds himself believing her.
