Rewrite of a deleted scene

Summary:

Basically I was reading the fly script and it turns out I was reading one of the earlier copies of it. I found this cut scene and I thought it was cool so I decided to rewrite it without the script format :)

Work Text:

In a fit of frustration he threw off his gloves and began to pace in circles reaching his hands towards his mouth forgetting he no longer had fingernails to bite, exasperated, he looked up at the skylight above him. The sky that night was clear, the waning crescent moon shining gentle tranquil beams soothing some simple, primal part of his mind. As if in a trance he jumped up and onto the wall with incredible agility. He ascended it before crossing the ceiling towards the skylight at the top, opening the glass window and exiting. The night was gorgeous, clean and bright, the sky pocked with stars. For a brief moment Seth basqued in the cool air of the night and breathed it all in. He is still alive, isn't he? He can still respond to the beauty of the night, can't he? The thoughts invigorating him. Escaping from the warehouse he had confined himself in for so long, he scaled down the side of the building, releasing himself into the city but out of view from the night folk. He climbed buildings and hung upside down from ledges and lampposts, eavesdropping on the city life around and below him, the inhabitants unaware of the unusual and shadowy observer in their midst. After a few hours of cruising the city he reluctantly decided to go back to the warehouse, his hunger getting the better of him, although he was fly like he was not quite ready to eat out of garbage cans. Once he arrived back on the Warehouses edge, he looked up at the light of the night sky being drawn to it like a moth to a flame so he decided to revel in the fresh air for a few moments longer, the man exquisite to his fate and momentarily forgetful of his future. The scene is beautiful almost as if it were painted by hand, the stillness echoing deep into Seth's tired soul, when suddenly a stabbing pain erupts from his side, he winces while clenching the point of hurt with one of his hands.

An audible wet splitting sound and a startled cry from Seth interrupting the silence of the night. Losing his balance, he slid several feet down trying to regain his grip on the wall before finally getting hold and gasping for air in hard swallows, the once comforting breeze now a cruel cold burrowing in him. Horrified and in agony Seth quickly began to climb back up the brick wall but the bulging pain impeded his progress. Just before he reaches the top another sharp pain hits him and he doubles up on himself, releasing his already weak grip to the wall. He fell backwards before hitting the metal roof below him, sending a new, but dull in comparison pain throughout his body. Seth tried to muffle a scream but the stabbing force was too intense, he looked at the origin of suffering, lifting his plaid shirt to reveal a protruding lump on his side as it glided side to side, feeling the hard pointed thing scraping against his soft fleshy inners. Small cries and whimpers escaped his trembling mouth before the hurt reached its climax causing his body to arch, eyes almost rolling back before the foreign object finally began to slowly unfold awkwardly out of his side. It looked like an insect leg… Despite his excruciating pain, Seth watched with fixated, wide-eyed terror at his latest transformation. The insect leg probing around like a real fly leg, almost with a mind of its own. “No…NO, NO! I WON'T! I WON'T!” No matter what he needed this thing off of him, even as his sweaty hands gripped at it, the new leg tingling under the sensation he refused to believe it was part of him. “iwontieontiwontiwont…” muttering to himself as he began to pull, tug and twist, anything that loosened it from his flesh. Before any rational thought had time to register a primal instinct took over and he began to gnaw at his own leg with his teeth at its base, twisting himself into an agonized ball in order to do it. Finally, freeing himself, Seth threw his severed leg off the roof's ledge and piered over the edge, his severed leg twitched on the ground, furling and unfurling. towards the edge looking at the leg in shock, his eyes crazed, like an animal who had been caught in a trap and forced to chew his leg off to be free. Out of utter exhaustion he collapses under his own weight, his head dangling over the edge and the smell admitting from a nearby dumpster suddenly becoming more appetizing than he’d like to admit.
