Work Text:
Once again I am back, knocking like an idiot hoping I’ll finally get a response. Izuku hasn’t been answering his door. Mad at me or something, who knows. But I need him to at least do his damn homework, and that’s the only reason I came over here. But once again, he doesn’t answer. So I sit. And I talk and I hope that he gets some sense into his head.
“Hey idiot ya ever gonna get out of there or what?” Nothing, complete silence.
I sigh, but I keep talking.
“You need to grab this dumb homework, I don’t want it in my bad and I sure as hell ain’t doin it for ya.” Still, silence. So I get up, set the homework down and walk away.
The next day I’m back. I knock. Still, silence. I sit down, but there’s a paper in my way.
“Tch couldn’t use your fuckin feet or hands ya dumb fuck.”
I move my hand to chest, then my head. My knees are to my chest and I bask in the silence.
“Fine, have it your way.”
The days pass, and I go every time. Each day I’m met with silence. But I still go. Why do I still go?
Eventually I have to ask.
“Shitty hair!”
The idiot turns with a bright smile, eyebags, and way too much energy for 7 in the morning.
“Bakugou, hey! How you doin man?”
“I’m fine but-“
I heave a sigh
“But?” He prompts
“Fucking nerd hasn’t left his room for days”.
Silence. Silence I’ve become used to. But this time it’s eery, and quiet and- sad.
He doesn’t say anything. And when he goes to, I walk away. I don’t know why but I felt the need to. Not because I’m running away though.
So I return to Izuku's room. I knock, he doesn’t answer whoopty woo. But this time I touch the door handle. I know it’s locked but- well at least it should be locked, but my hand pushes it down and it opens. Weird. I walk in. I look around. I freeze. Because he’s not there. He’s not fucking there.
Fuck.
FUCK.
Agony. God dammed agony. A scream. Tears. Fucking tears. I, katsuki bakugou, don’t cry. But he’s not here. Fuck. He’s not here.
And I remember, I remember his limbs on the ground, I remember tears, and blood and the pure dread I felt that day. I see auntie, standing there, not crying like usual. Just standing there, FUCK. I remember her comforting me. ME. Her son died and she was comforting the guy that bullied him.
I hear people around me. Whispers, and questions thrown around. But I can’t look up, I can’t face it. I can’t move because he’s not here. He in a stupid coffin, in the fucking ground. My best friend. Is in the ground. He was the kindest person, the bravest, and now he’s laying beside dirt and bugs and all the other corpses. He was a hero. A good hero. Part of me is so fucking angry. But it doesn’t matter. Fuck, nothing matters. Nothing fucking matters. Because we all end up dead in the end. Even someone as untouchable and beautiful as Izuku midoriya.
Fuck.
