Chapter Text
Dutch Van Der Linde, not yet Van Der Mango'ed where he was Van Der Going, hits his head. Not on the trolley; but by a conveniently placed mango tree that shows up at Horseshoe Overlook when he is rotting his brain with literature. But instead of it giving him a concussion, something terrible happens: He becomes... sane? Or differently insane.
He goes; "My God. Hosea was right! This IS pointless! I'm getting everyone killed! It's time for me to retire... to my tent. Arthur, Hosea, take care of the gang for me." And he goes to his tent to listen to Libiamo one more time while reading more books because he doesn't know what to do with his life besides that. He's bored now. Micah leaves because he gets bored of this much sanity (no one cares), and Hosea and everyone are very worried and confused and are pretty sure Dutch ate something rotten and they want to divise a plan to make him insane again, because at least that Dutch was real, but John is like "Wait, what? You want that guy back?" and everyone else just shrugs. Maybe they really should have had their brains eaten by wolves.
Dutch, meanwhile, shakes his head. "I have never felt better, son, thank you for asking. Molly, you're such a sweet girl." Molly just stares. Hosea gets an eye twitch. John actually says. "What the fuck?" everyone grabs a gun. "Who even are you?" Eventually he says; "I am simply a dreamer, an idealist... And I wish to reform society peacefully while listening to your ideas. Actually, I think-" Bill shoots him. Everyone backs away in horror. They bury him. Everyone says words at the funeral. The gang takes Dutch's money and they each go their own separate ways. Someone plants a mango tree over his dead body. The end?
