Kathryn fumbled with her keys and shoved herself in with the creaking door opening. Behind her, Seven was only slightly unsteady and holding onto the porch railing.
"Oh my Gcd," she cried, flinging herself down onto the kitchen island once and rubbing her eyes. A thunk of a switch behind her and the overhead over the counter blinked on "How did that never come up before?"
Behind her, Seven knocked off her flats and took her purse and jacket to the coat closet. "It seems B'Elanna may have been deliberately withholding this information in anticipation of our response."
"But they're together now! They're happy!" she said in hysterical wonder, flipping around to look at Seven.
'Voyager was a lonely environment." Her girlfriend defended lightly, coming to pull her jean jacket off of her while she was lost in her drunken amusement. "It is not so strange that Tom and Harry would have started seeking each other out for physical affection beyond what is considered traditionally platonic."
"No, I can't say I blame them," Kathryn sighed, allowing her body to be manipulated, "but I did not expect to hear how grateful he was for their late-night-snuggle-sessions. You know, typically Captains don't find things like this out about their senior officers."
Seven tossed the jacket onto the counter then knelt down to take off Kathryn's boots. "I am unsure whether B'Elanna's reaction seemed to Indicate that she doubted how "platonic" the whole situation was, or just that she was just embarrassed for her husband to be talking about it ." she continued, putting her lover's outwear away as well, then coming back lean over her against the counter top, bracketing her with her arms.
"This may be a source of contention for them. Tom lets her have her way for the most part, but he can be awfully obtuse."
Kathryn wrapped her hand under Seven's arms and pulled herself into that warm, inviting chest. "Maybe in a couple months they'll announce Harry is joining the Torres household.' She giggled. "Miral can have an extra-daddy."
Seven snorted at that "I do not wish to think what would compel B'Elanna to be willing to share her husband."
"How long until it's been 7 years since her ponn far?." Janeway asked mockingly, then cackled when Seven's face twisted sharply into an expression of disgust and disapproval.
As she descended into riotous laughter, Seven was allowed to gaze at her and revel in the sight of her lover so happy, so free. The years aboard Voyager had been tense for everyone, but Kathryn was the captain. No matter how much she or anyone else wanted her to, she could never let go of herself. She always had to be on guard. The last line of defense. Seeing her now, she was positively glowing. Seven had always treasured those little moments when Kathryn let her softness peak through. Certainly, she was captivated by the captain-persona as well, but it was those moments of tenderness which made Seven crave her own humanity. The joy of seeing her lounging and reading a paperback, or gallivanting around in the holodeck. It did not elude Seven how much it seemed Janeway wanted to be soft as well. Those moment when they would speak heart-to-heart and Kathryn would try to explain to her what it meant to be human, she always talked with the most reverence about compassion and love.
The one glass of wine she had during the party was now starting to have its effects, and she could feel the edges of her skin fizzle with warmth where they met her lover's. She felt as though she may, if she let herself, turn to liquid and flow down over her.
She ducked her head down to run her lips over the juncture between neck and shoulder.
"Do you want to have children?" She murmured against her skin without thinking.
Kathryn gasped lightly, though whether in response to the question or the mouth giving her gentle kisses was unclear. "Yes...s-sometime...at some point." She stuttered out, and felt those lips curve into a smile against her skin.
Seven brought her hand up to cradle Kathryn's cheek. She pulled back enough too gaze at her face, noses nearly touching.
"You would be a wonderful mother, Kathryn." She mused. It was said in a tone so earnest that it doused Kathryn's heart with a tingling heat. In response, all she could do was pull Seven as tightly against her as possible, trying to join them together at every inch possible.
"Take me to bed." She whispered. Then descended into giggles again as her lover took no time in pulling away from the counter to acquiesce.
