Work Text:

1. "Naraaa~"

It happened in the quiet of their shared dressing room, just the two of them preparing for a shoot. Pond frowned at his reflection, fingers struggling with a stubborn collar button that would not budge when Phuwin's arms circled his waist from behind, his chin resting over Pond's shoulder as he looked at their reflection. His breath tickled Pond's ear as he cooed, "Naraaa~," his syllables stretched so sweetly like honey dripping from a spoon.

Pond's hands froze. The nickname—so soft, so theirs—sent a shiver down his spine and a warmth spreading through his chest.

"W-What?" he managed, voice cracking slightly, eyes wide in the mirror.

Phuwin just smiled, planting a brief kiss on his cheek before stepping back to grab his script. "Nothing," he said breezily, though his eyes sparkled with mischief. "Just wanted to see you smile."

Pond stared at his reflection, at the unmistakable flush climbing up his neck and huffed. "Cheeky," he muttered under his breath, but the way his lips curled betrayed him.

Phuwin's laughter was airy and light, and Pond's heart flipped over.

Damn him.

2. "P'Pond"

The supermarket was nearly empty at this late hour. Pond was comparing cereal brands to one another when he heard it...that particular tone Phuwin used only for him.

"P'Pond."

Phuwin's voice curled around the honorific like a secret, sweet and intimate despite its formality. Pond fumbled the box in his hands, barely catching it before it hit the floor.

"Y-Yeah?" he called back, voice cracking.

"Which milk should we get?" Phuwin's question floated from the next aisle over.

"T-The usual one," he stammered, rounding the corner to find Phuwin studying the dairy case with exaggerated seriousness.

When Phuwin turned with that knowing smirk, his eyes glinted with amusement. "This one?" He held up a carton of chocolate milk, Pond's guilty pleasure, the one he always pretended not to want.

Pond groaned, taking it from him. "You're lucky you're cute," he muttered, tossing it into their basket.

Phuwin's ears turned pink, and Pond couldn't resist leaning in, brushing their shoulders together as he whispered, "And you're lucky I love you."

The way Phuwin's breath stalled? Totally worth it.

3. "Baby"

Their apartment kitchen was their sanctuary.

Pond stirred the simmering pot, the gentle beat calming after a long day. Then warm arms circled his waist, and a familiar weight settled against his back.

"Smells good, baby," Phuwin murmured into his shoulder blade, voice rough with drowsiness.

The spoon clattered against the pot. No matter how often he heard it, that word in Phuwin's morning-soft voice turned Pond's knees to jelly.

"Y-You're distracting me," Pond protested weakly, even as he leaned into the touch.

Phuwin chuckled, the vibrations sending shivers down Pond's spine. He placed a slow, deliberate kiss on the back of Pond's neck before pulling away. "Beautiful," he whispered, grinning when Pond nearly dropped the ladle.

Pond whirled around, face ablaze. "You—!"

But Phuwin was already heading out of the room, winking over his shoulder. "Dinner's gonna burn, baby."

Pond groaned, hands over his reddening cheeks. This man was going to be the death of him.

4. "Love"

Rain pattered against their living room windows, the TV casting flickering light across their tangled limbs.

"Love," Phuwin said absently, hands playing through Pond's hair, "pass me the remote?"

Pond's breath caught. It wasn't the first time—wouldn't be the last—but hearing it so casually, like it was the most natural thing in the world, made his heart falter.

"H-Here," he managed, handing it over with slightly unsteady fingers.

Phuwin finally glanced up, catching Pond’s eye. His teasing smirk softened into something unbearably tender. "Darling," he whispered, just for them.

Rain beat against the outside, and for an instant, Pond wondered if it was roaring or if it was the noise of blood pulsing into his ears. He buried his face in Phuwin's shoulder, inhaling the familiar scent of his shampoo.

"Yours," Pond whispered against his skin, and Phuwin's arms wrapped him closer.

5. "Honey"

Half-asleep and wrapped in blankets, Phuwin curled closer, his nose pressing against Pond's collarbone.

"Honey," he slurred, already dozing.

Pond's arms tightened instinctively. In the stillness of night, with no one to witness, he pressed his lips to Phuwin's forehead. "Hmm, sweetheart?" he breathed into the space between them.

Phuwin didn't respond, already asleep, but the way his fingers curled tighter into Pond's shirt said everything.

+1. "My Pond."

The sun was setting as they strolled through the mall, fingers loosely intertwined, when a group of Phuwin's university friends suddenly appeared.

"Phuwin! Long time no see!" one called out.

Pond felt Phuwin's hand close around his a little tighter as they stopped to exchange greetings. After a few minutes of catching up, one of the friends turned to ask, "So how's Pond these days? We haven't seen him in ages."

Pond, standing right beside Phuwin, blinked in confusion. Before he could respond, another friend laughed and clarified, "Which one? There's like ten Ponds he knows."

The group erupted in knowing chuckles. Phuwin laughed too, eyes crinkling at the corners in that way that made Pond's heart skip. Then Phuwin grinned at Pond with a wicked smile, hooking an arm around his waist.

"Clearly," Phuwin said, voice dripping with playful possessiveness, "you don't mean my Pond, right?"

Time stood still.

Pond's brain short-circuited so completely that he was certain smoke must be pouring out of his ears. His entire face went red, mouth falling open slightly as he stared at Phuwin in stunned silence.

The friends' laughter was background noise. All Pond could register was the sensation of Phuwin's arm around him and those two crushing words: my Pond.

"Uh...Earth to Pond?" one friend waved a hand in front of his frozen face.

Phuwin, realizing the nuclear-level shock he'd just caused, quickly made their excuses. "We should get going! Nice seeing you all!" He escorted the completely unresponsive Pond away, one arm wrapped firmly around his waist.

By the time they reached the car, Pond still hadn't rebooted. Phuwin gently pushed him into the passenger seat and buckled him in, biting his lip to hold back a laugh at Pond's dazed expression.

"Pond?" Phuwin tried, cupping his hand over his face. No response. "Nara?" Still nothing.

With a soft chuckle, Phuwin leaned in and pressed their lips together. Pond's hands crept up slowly to grab at Phuwin's shirt, his kiss clumsy with lingering shock. When they parted, Pond's eyes were glassy, lips curled into the softest, most lovesick smile Phuwin had ever seen.

"Mine," Pond breathed quietly, like he was discovering the concept for the first time.

Phuwin's heart swelled until he thought it might burst. He kissed Pond again for good measure before closing the car door.

The entire ride home, Pond stared at Phuwin with the wide-eyed expression of someone who'd witnessed a miracle. And when they got back, he became Phuwin's personal shadow - hands constantly seeking contact, lips pressing absent kisses to whatever part of Phuwin he could reach, whispering "my Phuwin" under his breath like a prayer.

And as he lay in bed that night with Pond wrapped around him like an octopus, Phuwin mentally noted:

Use "my Pond" sparingly.

Nuclear weapons should only be deployed on special occasions after all.
