Get Into Gaming Oasis

Summary:

Sukuna was a prideful man. Hell, he’s 38 with good looks and a stable career. So why the hell was he 8,000 yen deep and fighting for his life against a UFO catcher machine at 5pm on a Wednesday?

In which Sukuna wanders into a GiGO game centre in Ikebukuro and meets the love of his life while swearing at a Hachiware plush.
Otherwise known as: Megumi sees a hot man struggling and seizes his opportunity.

Notes:

I love Sukuna when he’s dramatic and waxes poetic about Megumi in his mental narrative.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sukuna pushed his way off the Yamanote line, eyes glued to his phone as he made his way through rush hour at Ikebukuro station. He should be on his way home, maybe grabbing a bento and a few beers at Family Mart and enjoying a nice quiet night in. But no, he just had to open his big, competitive mouth a month ago and land himself in what might be the most miserable situation of his week. Scratch that, probably his whole year.

Sukuna had always had a short fuse, but when it came to his work rival Gojo Satoru, that fuse was almost non-existent. They were both super stars on the sales team, and of course Satoru made it his life mission to piss Sukuna off at any chance he could get. The gall of that obnoxious, sugar-obsessed gremlin.

Obviously, with his immense skill and smooth talking, Sukuna had been topping the monthly sales rankings for the past three months. And maybe his ego was getting a little too inflated when he got into his latest dick measuring contest with Satoru. And maybe he shouldn’t have agreed to the bet that if Satoru placed first next month, Sukuna would owe him a meal - his treat to whatever Satoru’s little heart dreamt of. Probably sugar plum fairies and an excessive amount of mochi or whatever.

When the monthly sales ranking was posted a month later on a Monday, Sukuna saw Satoru’s smug little face right next to his name, excitedly pointing and brandishing as if it were lit up bright like the signs in Kabukicho.

#1. Gojo Satoru
#2. Ryomen Sukuna

And the real kicker? Satoru beat him by a measly 2%.

Sukuna had grimaced, but admitted a deal was a deal. Satoru had excitedly clapped him on the back as if they were the best of friends, and pulled an unwilling Sukuna off to the employee break room, talking his ear off about how lately he’d been craving parfaits. Two days later, Sukuna was staring down at a barrage of LINE messages from Satoru as he made his way through the station.

It was hard to believe this man was Sukuna’s prime competition, when in his personal life, Satoru sounded like a chronically online teenager, with the same humor to boot.

‘No fucking way,’ Sukuna thought as he walked towards the east exit. He should have expected as much from Satoru. It was enough that he was dragged out to Ikebukuro on the extremely rare day when both Sukuna and Satoru were supposed to be able to leave work early, but of course Satoru had to cause an even bigger inconvenience.

Satoru had absolutely insisted on going to Milky Way, a cafe popular with girls and young women, known for serving elaborate soft serve parfaits based on astrological signs. Something about wanting to guess Sukuna’s birthday based on which parfait he chooses. Fat chance he’d give that away, there’s no way Sukuna would ruin his peace to have Satoru clamoring about his birthday every time it comes around.

And there was no way in hell Sukuna, a 38 year old 195cm man built like a brick shithouse, would go to the cafe early and wait alone for his dear colleague. No, he could head a few streets over to P144, a small but chic bar he liked that had locally brewed beers on tap. Much more his speed than a cutesy, sparkly cafe. But then again, he also didn’t want to look like a poor sap sitting alone nursing a beer.

So, Sukuna kept walking, past Milky Way, until he saw the bright fluorescent lights of the large GiGO gaming centre. He hadn’t entered one of those since his school days, over 15 years ago. Most notably back when they were all still named Sega. His age was showing, and it wasn’t just in the small flecks of grey in his hair anymore. As immature as UFO catchers and rhythm games seemed, Sukuna was a teeny tiny bit curious to see what these new game machines were like. He put emphasis on that miniscule curiosity as he walked through the threshold of the large gaming centre. If anything, he could lie to himself and to the teens bustling past him (who did not give a single shit what he was doing), and say he was just killing time in a well air conditioned facility. Tokyo summers were brutal, okay?

Sukuna was clearly over thinking as he browsed the aisles of machines on the ground level. Around him were other patrons of all ages: teens, adults, couples, and families. The machines were full of figures, plushies, pillows, and charms from various popular series. Sukuna, already feeling a bit like a fish out of water, had yet to recognize any of the characters. Had it really been that long since he indulged in anime or manga? He walked past a white haired figure that reminded him of a certain someone… just upside down and covered in blood.

Surprised that the fluorescent lights hadn’t given him a migraine yet, Sukuna strolled back towards the front, where the large UFO catcher machines were full of big prize plushies. His eyes scanned the machines, deciding to approach the one at the very end of the row. He stared at the plushies inside.

Hachiware.

Okay, Sukuna wasn’t that ancient. He knows what Chiikawa is. Everyone knows Chiikawa. Everyone loves Chiikawa. So it wouldn’t look that odd for a man like him to try his hand at winning a Hachiware plush. Right?

Musing through different mental excuses, Sukuna saddled up at the machine and pulled out his wallet. He didn’t have that many coins, he was sure he would spend a few hundred yen and be done with it. Maybe win the plush, maybe not…

Except, this was Ryomen Sukuna. Extremely competitive Ryomen Sukuna. As soon as he realized he could make mobile payments directly on the machine after he ran out of coins, it was game over for his bank account and his dignity. He carefully moved the claw around, aiming right for the Hachiware plush nestled on top of the pile, like a battlefield of stupid, smiling, smug ass plushies. Sukuna took a deep breath, and just like all the other times, the claw decided to descend upon the plush and grab it with the force of a dainty Victorian gentleman whose greatest fear was germs.

Sukuna’s frustrations grew, but he was already 8,000 yen deep. He couldn’t give up now, sunk cost fallacy and all that. Anytime now, that stupid fucker would finally be his. His extremely expensive plush that he would have to carry with him all around Ikebukuro. He gave the plush another death glare (it should be happy it was safe behind the glass for now) as he fished his phone out of his pocket, ready to top up another 1,000 yen into the machine. Right then, his phone buzzed with a message from Satoru. Finally, he was on his way and should get to Milky Way around 6PM. Great, Sukuna had effectively killed time and now he had 20 minutes to make this fluffy bitch his. Easy peasy. “You stupid ass mother fucker, you’re mine now.”

Money re-loaded, Sukuna was just about to start maneuvering the claw when he heard a small cough close to his right side. Peering over, he saw the most beautiful young man he had ever seen. He was a head shorter – no, maybe more – with spiky black hair and the most gorgeous green eyes in the world. Those perfect green eyes blinked at him through long beautiful lashes as the boy coughed again, effectively knocking Sukuna out of his stupor.

“Um, we don’t usually try to help unless asked, but you looked like you were one failed attempt away from smashing the whole machine.”

If Sukuna wasn't embarrassed before, boy was he now. Was his face red? He could feel his ears getting hotter by the second as the boy looked at him confused, waiting for an answer. Anyone else in the universe, Sukuna would not have given a single shit. In fact, if some no name, forgettable face motherfucker had come up to him, he’d have stared straight into their eyes and kicked the machine for emphasis.

But no, the universe had to present this absolute angel in front of him in one of his weakest moments. Sukuna gathered himself after what felt like an eternity drowning again in those green eyes (it was less than 5 seconds), trying to lean nonchalantly against the machine to address the boy. “It’s fine, I’ve got it handled here,” he said in his most confident bravado, giving the boy a once over. Letting his eyes roam, he noticed the boy was wearing a blue uniform shirt, things clicking into place as he realized this angel descended not from the heavens, but from GiGO. Coming back up to his face, Sukuna saw the boy raise an eyebrow. A look of what may only be considered as ‘cringe’ crossed the boy’s face.

“Are you sure? I’ve been watching you for about half an hour now and you’re not any closer to winning than you were when you started.”

Guns aren’t legal in Japan, but maybe Sukuna can macgyver one à la Shinzo Abe assassination, and end his misery with a barrel to the mouth. What do you mean this adorable creature was watching his entire struggle? He saw him curse and swear at the machine, banging his fist every so often on the console. How uncouth.

In that moment (it was really less than five seconds), Sukuna decided to pull his shit together; he had a lot of recovery to do if he wanted to charm the pants off the black haired boy (literally). “I’m cool as a cucumber,” Sukuna inwardly cringed. When the hell had he ever said that before?

In his defense, the boy was cute and he was but a weak, mortal man.

The boy gave a small giggle and stepped closer towards Sukuna and the machine. “Yeah, okay tough guy. As entertaining as it is to watch you flex your muscles against a helpless inanimate object, I can’t have you breaking my machines.” The boy shimmied Sukuna out of the way; strange, but clearly not afraid of a little body contact. He pulled out his set of keys from his waistband and unlocked the glass panel to slide it open.

He picked up the offending Hachiware plush, and angled it so it was precariously balanced on the edge of the capture bin. He turned to look up at Sukuna, now standing just centimeters from the boy. Basically chest to shoulder. Was it getting hot in here?

“That should do it,” a sly grin gracing his features. “One small tap and it should fall right in. You’ve got this, right, big guy?”

Sukuna smirked, looking down at the boy. He was flirting with him, he had to be. There was no way it was just Sukuna’s imagination. But before Sukuna could reply with a witty remark, the boy winked and walked away. Sukuna’s eyes trailed after him, and he could swear there was a slight sway to the boy’s hips as he walked. And don’t get him started on that pert ass. But Sukuna had to snap out of it. It was game time, and there was no way he wouldn’t win now, thanks to his angel from above. All he had to do was push the plush towards victory, find the boy again, this time with spoils in hand, and ask for his contact info with all the suave he channels when meeting big shot clients. Because he’s Ryomen fucking Sukuna.

Who was apparently, though, complete shit at UFO catchers. This time, the claw descended with what Sukuna swore was a slight lean to the left, and instead of pushing the plush to certain victory, it gently lifted Hachiware, only to deposit it right back onto the pile of other plushies. The machine was mocking him. It wasn’t inanimate, it had a mind of its own and was surely mocking him and trying to make him look like a complete fool in front of his future husband. A growl of frustration left his throat as he slammed his fists down on the console.

Frustration seethed from Sukuna as he heard a small chuckle.

“Easy there big guy, what did I tell you about destruction of property?”

“It’s not my fault, this thing is broken.”

“But was it broken before or after you smacked it around?”

“I barely put a dent in it.”

“But you still dent it.”

“It’s negligible. A five year old throwing a tantrum could do more damage.”

The boy looked right into Sukuna’s eyes and let out a small but genuine laugh. Was that an angels’ choir he heard off in the distance? Church bells maybe?

“I’ll help you one last time, you really shouldn’t be wasting your money on this.”

“I would hardly call this wasting money. It’s more like pocket change,” Sukuna scoffed, trying to grasp at what threads were left of the possibility to make a good impression on the boy. “And besides, I got to meet you.” It was Sukuna’s turn this time to wink at the boy, making his intention abundantly clear. The boy gave him a side eye, but his ears burned red while he got to work opening the machine and placing the plush right where it was before Sukuna demonstrated his lack of UFO catching prowess.

Still facing away, the boy muttered, “Fushiguro.” Barely hearing him, Sukuna let out an undignified, “huh?”

The boy closed and locked the glass panel, turned around, and leaned back against the machine, hands resting on the control panel – comfortably sandwiched between the machine and Sukuna. “Fushiguro Megumi. I figured you should know my name if you’re going to stare at my ass like that.” Megumi tilted his head and raised an alluring brow, as if challenging Sukuna for a good comeback after calling him out point blank.

Sukuna definitely did not sputter, but he’ll admit to being caught slightly off guard. “How…”

Megumi pointed behind Sukuna, “Nobara saw, my coworker. She told me you were eyeing me like you wanted to eat me.” Sukuna turned his head to let his vision follow the direction of Megumi’s finger until he spotted another blue shirt clad employee, this time a young woman giving him a cheeky grin before switching to a dramatic frown and a thumbs down. Sukuna grimaced and turned back to Megumi, moving just a centimeter forward and placing his own hands on the console, bracketing Megumi against the machine. “And what if I do… want to eat you?” Sukuna gave a dramatic pause in the middle of his question as he eyed Megumi up and down slowly. He had a flair for dramatics, so what?

The boy stared straight into Sukuna’s soul- eyes, stared straight into his eyes, before letting out a small huff. Megumi rolled his eyes and gently grabbed one of Sukuna’s wrists so he could slip out from between Sukuna’s arms. He leaned in close to Sukuna’s ear, and whispered, “You couldn’t handle me.” Oh did Sukuna pick the right boy.

Still low, hands on the machine and faces so close, just a breath apart, Sukuna turned his head and fixed Megumi with a strong gaze, eyes searching. He smirked and after a few seconds of intense eye fucking, he stood up to his full height, towering over Megumi. “Somehow I doubt that.”

Megumi looked up at Sukuna through his lashes, but in a split second the tension was gone. Almost as if Megumi just realized he was still on the clock. He put on his best customer service smile, and gestured toward the machine for Sukuna to continue his pitiful attempts.

“Good luck, big guy.” And with that, Megumi walked away again.

There was undeniable chemistry between the two, even though they were strangers that had barely spoken a few sentences to each other. Sukuna knew he had a decision to make, it was now or never. He had 15 minutes, 800 yen to waste, and a dream.

So he whiffed it. He whiffed it so hard the plush ricocheted to the back of the machine.

5, 4, 3, 2…

Quick footsteps approached, followed by an unamused huff. Sukuna turned around to smirk at Megumi, for once proud of his failure.

“Now you’re just doing it on purpose. Either that or you have an astounding lack of talent.”

“I’d be happy to show you where my real talents lie,” Sukuna replied, laying it on thick with the innuendo. Megumi peered back at Sukuna with an unimpressed look as he busied himself for the third time placing Hachiware on the brink of the capture bin. Or was it the brink of Megumi’s patience. Finishing up the job, Megumi whipped back around to face Sukuna, jabbing a delicate finger into his chest.

“For the love of God, just win the damn plush and ask me out like a normal person. Stop wasting your fucking money for my attention. I’m off work in 10 minutes.” Did Sukuna mention he picked the right boy? Because fuck, he was really liking the snippets of fiery personality he was getting to taste.

Megumi stepped aside and crossed his arms, this time watching and waiting for Sukuna to deal what he hoped would be the final blow to the poor abused Hachiware plush. What probably everyone in the general vicinity hoped would be the final win, after watching this poor grown man make attempt after attempt for almost a solid hour. Sukuna gave Megumi a wink before turning back to focus on the machine. This was it, he was going to finally end his misery and even get to leave with two prizes under his arm. Sukuna finagled the joystick around a bit, moving the claw so it was right above the part of the plush dangling over the capture bin.

A press of a button, a push of the claw, and finally the damn plush fell into the bin. The lights flashed and a congratulatory jingle played as Sukuna reached down to pull the plush out from the machine.

“Congrats, meet me out front in eight.”

Before Sukuna could turn around and reply, Megumi was already fast walking to the back of the centre. Shit, it was 5:52PM and Sukuna now had a date with a green eyed beauty before he could even explain his much more traumatizing and unfortunate ‘date’ with Satoru that same evening. Maybe he could bring Megumi along to scare off Satoru, make things so incredibly awkward that Satoru would have no choice but to leave. That way, Sukuna could have the rest of the evening to bask in the presence of his angel and plan their wedding and the rest of their lives.

Would Megumi be open to a little PDA with a man he just met? It was a gamble, and an even bigger gamble whether they would get kicked out of the cafe. But Sukuna had always been utterly shameless, and he wasn’t going to let Megumi slip through his fingers literally and figuratively. That will have to do, his lizard brain told him. It was the best idea he could come up with.

Patiently waiting just outside the threshold of the entrance, Sukuna lifted the large plush to stare at it at eye-level. “At least you were good for something,” he grimaced. Lowering the plush, he came into eye contact again with those beautiful green eyes.

“Hey,” Megumi smiled, more relaxed now, having changed out of his work uniform. Sukuna was sure Megumi would look stunning in just about anything, but the oversized band t-shirt he sported now made Sukuna’s (lizard) brain start turning, wondering what Megumi would look like in his clothes. No doubt he'd be swimming in Sukuna’s shirts.

He looked again at the plush, deciding to present it to Megumi. “Here, it’s all yours. I didn’t really want it anyways. It was more about the thrill of the hunt,” nonchalance exuding from his tone. “And the name's Ryomen Sukuna.” He leaned in close to Megumj, pressing the plush between their bodies. “You'll want to know whose name you'll be screaming later.” Ryomen Sukuna, you've done it again. You're back on your A-game.

“...Thrill of the hunt huh?” Megumi accepted the plush, choosing to ignore Sukuna's cringe attempt at a pick-up line. He hugged the plush to his chest, nearly covering his whole torso. Looking at the face of Hachiware, Megumj patted the fluffy head and simply said, “Kuna.”

For the second time that day, Sukuna let out an undignified ‘huh.’ Megumi's sparkling eyes met Sukuna's as a playful pout graced his features. “I'm naming him Kuna. It suits him, don't you think?” And if that wasn't like a cupid arrow through Sukuna's heart, he doesn't know what was. Meanwhile, Megumi compared the plush to its namesake, a striking lack of resemblance between the smiling plush and the gruff, love struck stupified man in front of him.

“So, where are we off to?”

“Milky Way.”

Megumi raised a brow and gave Sukuna a once-over. “Interesting choice, but I won’t complain. I could go for something sweet.”

Sukuna sighed, happy though that Megumi was going along with it so far. “I didn’t get a chance to mention that I have an obligation tonight with a really, and I mean really, annoying colleague of mine.” They started to walk towards their destination only 100 meters away from GiGO, as Sukuna explained his ingenious (?) plan.

“Listen, I know it’s unconventional and probably really weird, but I don’t want to let you go. And besides, this guy deserves a taste of his own medicine. I bet we could be so annoying that he leaves in five minutes flat. If you catch my drift.” Megumi pondered as they walked, giving some thought to Sukuna’s plan. He hummed a confirmation, agreeing to go along with it. “I was raised by the most exasperating person I know, and I work in customer service. I’m basically a professional at dealing with annoying people. It’s fine with me as long as you’re paying. Plus, your face makes it worth it.” The boy was probably just as strange, and by God was Sukuna smitten.

Sukuna, the perfect gentleman that he can be when the rare moment strikes him, opened the door for Megumi as they entered the cafe. Luckily, the usually bustling cafe was starting to wind down as it neared closing, so the two were able to snag a table next to the window. Megumi took the window seat, but not before carefully settling the Hachiware plush, now deemed ‘Kuna,’ in the seat across from him. Sukuna took his rightful place next to Megumi, slinging an arm around the back of his chair.

The server gave them a strained, polite smile as he set menus and two cups of water on the table and walked away. Probably unsure what to make of the scene before him of an obviously older man escorting a much younger companion with a giant plush third-wheeling their date. The unlikely couple browsed the menu, reading through the descriptions for the different ice cream parfaits. When they caught the server’s attention, Megumi turned to Sukuna, “It would be a waste not to get the parfaits for our astrological signs.” Addressing the server, Megumi ordered the Capricorn parfait: a soft serve sundae with a mix of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, corn flakes, and coffee jelly, topped with whipped cream, banana, baumkuchen, cookies, and chocolate syrup.

Head in the clouds and stars above – literally and figuratively, there were twinkling lights in the ceiling, mimicking the night sky – Sukuna dumbly agreed and selected the Scorpio parfait for himself. A sugar bomb of soft serve, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, plus a few hundred grams of sugar in the form of corn flakes, pie crust, whipped cream, strawberry syrup, sponge cake, and cookies. A parfait with 1000x more sugar than Sukuna would normally consume in a month - a heart attack in a bowl. But to spend time with Megumi? It was worth the gamble to wake up tomorrow with a toothache. Besides, Sukuna would bet his right testicle that Megumi tasted sweeter.

A shiver went down Sukuna’s spine, and not because he was daydreaming of doing ungodly things to the boy next to him. No, it was more like a sixth sense of impending doom, a whirlwind headed right in their direction.

Satoru came barreling up behind Sukuna and Megumi, “Sukuna-chan! What a surprise!”

“Don’t fucking call me that,” muttered Sukuna under his breath as Satoru slid into the chair next to ‘Kuna.’ With his usual obnoxious grin, Satoru turned to the inanimate third member of their party and shook its paw. Sukuna rolled his eyes, grunted, and picked up his cup of water debating on whether he should throw it at Satoru to get this over with faster. Sukuna settled with taking a sip while glaring at his colleague.

“So, Ryomen,” Satoru began, suddenly a hair more serious, clasping his palms together on the table. He looked between Sukuna and Megumi, the smile never leaving his face. “How do you know my sugar baby? My dear darling Megumi.”

Sukuna almost spat out his water. He really should have thrown it at Satoru instead. “The fuck you mean?” Sukuna glanced over at Megumi, noticing the scowl on his angelic face.

“Stop talking nonsense Gojo, that’s gross.” Megumi put his hand on Sukuna’s thigh. “Don’t worry, Gojo is my guardian. More like my actual adoptive father. Nothing weird between us, right?” Megumi emphasized ‘weird’ with a kick to Satoru’s shin under the table.

“I’m offended, Memi.”

“Ugh, not this nickname again,” Megumi frowned.

“How could you say I’m your adoptive father when I birthed you myself?” Satoru cried as he flagged down the server, just a table away and definitely within earshot to hear his strange proclamation. Minimum wage in Tokyo was not worth hearing whatever was going on at this table. Polite smile plastered on his face again, the server took Satoru’s order – not just one, but three parfaits: Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Capricorn. One ‘representing’ himself and the other two representing the two apples of his eyes. Sukuna groaned in disgust.

“Gojo, please for the love of God,” Megumi sighed.

The two began to bicker, truly like a father and son, while Sukuna’s eyes ping ponged between the two men. How the hell did he end up here?

Sukuna could handle Satoru as a coworker, but what did this connection between him and Megumi make him now? His father-in-law? Suddenly, he had the urge to vomit, or maybe grab a fork and stab it in Satoru’s jugular. But before he could resort to violence, he remembered the hot hand on his thigh. Sukuna could wait to be arrested for homicide. He’ll wait until after the wedding and honeymoon, that was reasonable enough. Settled with his decision, Sukuna reached again for his cup of water. There was no way there would be more surprises. He didn’t think his 38 year old heart could handle both the sugar and more unpleasant surprises from Satoru.

Satoru leaned forward, elbow perched on the table and chin resting on his palm, just staring at the two men in front of him with his deeply unsettling blue eyes. Sukuna knew there was no way Satoru and Megumi could be blood related. Satoru’s eyes had not even 1% of the charm that Megumi’s green, incandescent eyes had.

To Sukuna’s discomfort, Satoru made direct eye-contact with him as he sipped his water.

“All jokes aside, I didn’t peg you for a cradle robber. My dear Megumi here just turned the ripe young age of 16,” Satoru scrunched his face and shook his head, feigning concern.

This time, Sukuna really did spit out his water directly on Satoru. Well deserved.

With impeccable timing as usual, their server came around with all five parfaits and extra napkins. Sukuna was fine with causing a scene, but this wasn’t entirely what he had had in mind. He thought it would involve more touching and kissing with the boy next to him.

Oh no, the boy.

Boy. Like, legally still a boy? A teen?

He knew Megumi looked much younger than himself, but that young? Sukuna was aware he was steadfastly approaching mid-life crisis age, but he thought he had a little more time to plan that out. The list in his Notes app was barely fleshed out.
1. Splurge for a sports car
2. Start obsessive Gunpla hobby
3. Shave head

Nowhere on that list was ‘date a teen.’

Maybe this wasn’t a midlife crisis, but cardiac arrest. He hadn’t even started to eat the exorbitantly sweet dessert yet.

Sukuna spared a hesitant glance at Megumi, only to see him leaning back in his chair, palms pressed over his eyes as he groaned in exasperation.

“Don’t listen to him,” Megumi said, sitting up straight and glaring at Satoru, who was too busy shoving spoonfuls of his three parfaits into his mouth. “I’m 22. And what the fuck do you mean ‘just turned?’ It’s summer, Gojo. My birthday is in December. YOUR birthday is in December too.”

Well, it wasn’t illegal and it wasn’t cradle robbing. More like…dorm robbing? Sukuna considered himself in the clear, for now.

“You really should have seen your face, Sukuna. I bet we could recreate it if you dropped down to #10 in the monthly sales rankings,” Satoru winked.

“Fat chance. You’re never even going to see first place again,” Sukuna retorted, taking a hesitant bite of his own sugary parfait.

Changing the subject, Satoru spoke around a mouthful of ice cream and corn flakes. “How did you meet my son of flesh and blood anyways? I admit, Megumi is quite a cutie. I mean, he’s the spitting image of me!”

“Insufferable,” Megumi shook his head as he quietly and politely resumed eating his dessert.

“I wouldn’t blame you for kidnapping him right off the street,” Satoru continued around another mouthful. How can anyone eat that fast?

Sukuna gave Satoru a look of disgust and stabbed his spoon into his parfait. He leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms. “I was waiting for your stupid ass, and happened to catch Megumi at his workplace. I guess I do have to thank you for being a perpetual nuisance.” He conveniently left out the part where he struggled in a battle against a UFO catcher for the better part of an hour.

Satoru’s eyes flashed to the plush sitting slightly off kilter next to him. “Spoils of war?”

Sukuna huffed and re-adjusted his crossed arms. He wasn’t acting like a pouty baby, he just didn’t want to be reminded of the slight tantrum he threw in a very public place. Anyways, babies can’t throw tantrums.

Megumi chimed in next to him, “He struggled a little bit.” Sukuna rolled his eyes. “But I dunno, it was cute. And plus, he gave me the plush,” Megumi shrugged, nonchalant, as if he hadn’t been trying to eye fuck Sukuna earlier while he was on the clock.

“Hmm,” Satoru nodded, seeming to accept Megumi’s answer. Somehow the gremlin had finished all three parfaits in record time.

“Well, don’t let me interrupt you two horny kids,” he said as he got up from his chair. Sukuna let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Was he about to be free? Was this the sweet taste of freedom?

About to walk away, Satoru glanced back between Sukuna and his dessert. Suddenly, his face lit up. Oh no.

“I didn’t know you were a Scorpio, Sukuna-chan! Amazing, I can’t wait until November. We’ll celebrate every day until I find your birthday!” Before Sukuna could get a word in edgewise, Satoru had skipped his way out of the cafe.

Megumi rubbed Sukuna’s knee affectionately. “I’d say you’ll get used to it, but you already know the guy. I’d also apologize, but I’m not sorry.” He stared at Sukuna through his lashes. Sukuna recited a silent prayer, thanking whatever deity above that Megumi was not 16.

In truth, regardless of the extremely bizarre coincidence, Sukuna didn’t regret any of the unfortunate events that led up to this point, because it all led him right to Megumi. Before Sukuna could lose himself in the bright green pools, they heard the tune of auld lang syne start playing from the overhead speakers. That was their cue to pay and get the fuck out.

Sukuna grabbed the bill off the table, scoffing when he saw the total. “5,000 yen for ice cream. I wasn’t planning to spend that much, but I guess it’s worth it,” he said as he smirked at Megumi.

“You’re forgetting the 8,000 yen at GiGO… so a total of 13,000 yen in one night. Not bad Ryomen.”

“Don’t remind me.”

“It’s okay,” Megumi’s hand slid further up Sukuna’s thigh. “I’d be happy to give you private lessons.”

Notes:

I’m shit at coming up with titles so I took the easy way out.

I wrote this as a way to get the creative juices flowing. It’s been 84 years since I wrote fic, so honestly while I was proof reading over and over, I kept wondering if this entire thing has been written before. If it has, I apologize, I have shit memory. Particularly the bit about the gun? I might have read that somewhere, but didn’t think about it until I was reviewing. Sukuna possessed me while writing that bit, so it stayed in.

Both Milky Way and P144 are real places! I really wrote this fic 50% because I was craving an ice cream parfait.

I blessed Sukuna with my incredible ability to fuck up crane games (in the money losing way). I wanted to write something unequivocally based in Japan, as a sort of pre-repentance for the extremely American based fic I’m cooking. Also, the figure I mentioned is a real prize figure of Gojo from season 2 that was released last summer.

I don’t think Sukuna has a canon birthday? Some online sources say November 1, so I went with it because he fits the Scorpio specs.
