Wide Eyed Ghost

Summary:

Belos tries to gather a meeting with the coven heads when a mysterious figure appears

Work Text:

Hunter very gently tugs at Belos’ cloak to pull him out of the trance he had that made him stare blankly forward, mumbling something to himself. He was staring directly at Darius, who shifted uncomfortably from where he stood. His gaze wasn't exactly meant to be on him, however, but on someone behind him. But Hunter didn't see who Belos looked so scared of. Even with his mask on, Hunter became almost perfect at reading Belos’ emotions just by how he held himself. He had a mental list of how to react to each emotion to keep him from getting hurt, at least to a small possibility. As soon as Belos’ whipped his head around to look down at Hunter, he let go of his cloak and backed up nervously. Belos thought for a moment before announcing.

“You all may be seated.” The rest of the coven's head gazed at each other with a little worry before sitting down at their designated spots at a huge stone round table. But between Darius and Eber Wolf suddenly stood a tall, pale, slender, and mangled figure whom you could barely tell was human. Nevertheless was still recognizable in a way. He’s seen this figure many times over the 400 years he spent in the demon realm, but the shock never wore off. He still felt his stomach churn, his blood run cold, and his bones start to ache, and no matter what, he just couldn't look away. As much as he wanted to deny the once-human that now stands towering over the coven heads with his gravely and horrific appearance, Belos could never admit he was the cause of it. The shadows of the room covered the figure’s face, but he could still feel its eyes on him and knew exactly the face it would have made by how it was standing. What was shown in the light was its chest torn open, leaking with blood, organs, and ash, but it had one arm crossed over it, but the burned away skin and muscle and fractured bones didn't hold anything together. The way it stood showed agony leaning to one side while it's legs were like glass, about to collapse or break. It took a step forward and brought his face into the light. As mangled as it was. maggots covered his left cheek leaving tiny burrows in its place in clumps, one eye had been torn out and dripped with blood down his face like tears the other yellowed, bloody and cloudy was frozen with a look of pure fear while the right side of his face was consumed by the fire that killed him, bubbly and wrapped around his cheekbones like his bones were enough to just puncture the soft scar tissue.

Keeping his mask on kept his main reaction hidden, his eyes were wide, his green scar of rotten flesh ate away at the rest of his face, his curse went into a defensive mode, fueling its power over his fear of seeing his older brother stand there without a word. He hated to see him there as a reminder of exactly what he did to him; he could brush it off all he wanted, but seeing him there as a physical being torn apart and stitched together, half decomposed and dug up with that same look on his face that he had once he had pressed the knife on his neck one of fear and anger.

“Uncle, are you?-” Hunter asks before Belos’ thundering voice made him flinch in fear.

“Everyone out, now.” The coven heads knew exactly what was going on, but also did not know exactly. He lied to them saying that wild magic cursed him and made him see things, and that haveing them leave was protecting the cause. But as they got up and left Caleb disappeared with them like he was never there. And suddenly the room felt less like a cage and he felt more at ease.

“What happened?” Hunter asks trying his best to keep him calm.

“Your father keeps plaugeing me with his mistakes…” Belos grumbled to himself now able to turn away.

“Was he here again? He didnt see-” Hunter was cut off by a hard slap that knocked him down and knocked his mask to the floor. Hunter wasn't quick enough to react and only cupped his cheek.

“I dont need your questions boy!!” Belos huffed before he turned away and left without another word. Hunter looked back at where that figure once was seen to have stood.

And all he saw was a few drops on blood on the stone floor.
