Chapter Text
Joan,
Forget me, don't forget me, whatever it is. It doesn't matter to me how you carry the memories of New York. Whether or not any of this meant anything to you isn't my concern either. What I know is that you should mean something to yourself.
Even if you never come back to New York, even if I never come to Macomb, you should be true to yourself. I expect you to know what I mean.
There's too little time in our short lives to live them the way people expect us to rather than how we really want. Forget me, but not yourself.
And if you ever decide to come back to New York, look me up. I'm not going anywhere.
Farewell,
Maggie
P.S. Send me a letter. I can let you know if I'm ever headed your way, if you'd like.
