Chapter 1: Troubles and Mischief

Chapter Text

Adachi sets his bag and cup down on his desk, preparing to start another day of school. The kids haven’t arrived yet so he takes advantage of this and decides to organize and relax a bit.

Now, don’t get him wrong, Adachi absolutely loves his job and loves his kids; but he also doesn’t mind some peace and quiet time before their arrival. Especially a bit of peace from his wildest student, Rokkaku.

Adachi believes every child has something special to them. And he certainly believes that Rokkaku is a one of a kind child.

He finishes organizing his classroom and takes a couple minutes to check his emails and send out announcements before going to the drop-off/pick-up area.

As usual, Rokkaku is one of the first ones to arrive. He greets Adachi with a hug and an extremely cheerful: “Good morning, Mr. Adachi!!” Adachi just laughs it off and finally goes inside after drop-off is finished.

He goes inside his classroom and starts their day off with some songs and wake up calls. His children absolutely love this ritual and repeat it every morning.

Just as they’re about to start their craft for the new letter of the week, Adachi hears a shriek and turns around to see a student holding her hair while more hair is on the floor.

He also sees Rokkaku holding some scissors and not looking guilty at all.

“Rokkaku, what happened? Why did you cut Saki’s hair?” Adachi yelped. Rokkaku just shrugged nonchalantly, “She called my drawing lame! She deserved it.”

“Rokkaku, we don’t cut other people’s hair, it isn’t nice. Remember, we have to respect other people’s bubbles so they will respect our bubbles. Did you respect Saki’s bubble?” Adachi kneeled down to reach Rokkaku eye level.

Rokkaku shamefully bowed his head down and shook his head. He then turned to Saki and apologized.

Adachi sighed, because he knew that this meant he would have to have a meeting with Rokkaku’s parents and send an apologetic and detailed message to Saki’s parents.

“We’re gonna have to let your parents know about this, right? This is the third incident this week, buddy. We have to learn to calm down, take a deep breath, and think about our choices.”

“Okay, Mr. Adachi.”

The kids go back to doing their crafts after going through a review of scissors safety.

Adachi heads to his computer and opens the app to communicate with the parents to find Rokkaku’s parents.

Surprisingly, Adachi only sees one parent listed: Kurosawa Yuichi. He doesn’t question it though and sends a quick but clear message.

Then it dawned over him. Adachi has never seen Rokkaku’s dad. A lady by the name of Nozomi Fujisaki usually drops him off and picks him up, but she made it very clear that she’s not his mom nor related to him in any way.

He then sends a message to Saki’s parents apologizing for what happened to Saki. Thankfully, Saki’s parents are understanding and assure Adachi that it can’t really be helped.

The rest of the day goes by smoothly. He enjoys the rest of the day with their usual routine. He helps his students go to the pick-up area and apologizes again to Saki’s parents.

He is then approached by a man that seems to be around his age, holding hands with Rokkaku. “Hello, you must be Mr. Adachi. I’m Kurosawa, this gremlin’s dad. I’m so sorry for the trouble he’s been causing recently.” Kurosawa bows down.

Adachi waves him off, “It’s alright, it’s still my job to handle these children with the upmost understanding and care. But I would definitely love to discuss methods to prevent anymore future incidents with you!”

Kurosawa seems a bit nervous. Has he ever been to a parent-teacher conference before? I mean, Rokkaku is only in kindergarten, but according to his records, he’s been to Pre-K before at another school.

“That sounds like a wonderful idea. Should I wait here or…” Adachi nods and then asks him to wait in his classroom until he’s done with his patrol.

Kurosawa complies and heads to Adachi’s classroom with Rokkaku’s aid.

Raising a child alone must be pretty hard, Adachi wonders how Kurosawa even got in that position. It seems rather complicated considering they don’t even have the same last name.

Of course, Adachi just shrugs it off.

He knows it not any of his business. And actually, Kurosawa seems rather well off. He arrived in a rather expensive-looking suit, seeming like a business person. And Rokkaku doesn’t dress in ordinary clothes either.

So, really, maybe it’s not that bad if you have the right amount of money.

Ah, that sounded extremely rude.

Kurosawa actually seemed really nice and Adachi doesn’t doubt that Kurosawa will agree with his methods.

Of course, Adachi got administrative approval prior to this meeting. He’s not that careless!

————————

When Kurosawa received the message that Rokkaku cut someone else’s hair, he can’t help but sigh.

Of course his child decided to do something so ridiculous.

His situation may seem complicated but it’s actually quite simple.

He was hosting an event to help foster children and happened to run into Rokkaku. He couldn’t help but love this child immediately.

Kurosawa got to work immediately and did everything in his power to prove that not only is he capable of raising a child on his own, but that he is much more than able to have this child.

After many adjustments, court sessions, and paper signing, Kurosawa gained full custody of Rokkaku.

Rokkaku has been Kurosawa’s child for 3 years now and he couldn’t be anymore grateful to have such a wonderful and energetic child.

But of course, Kurosawa’s son isn’t perfect. Which Rokkaku generously proved today.

He thanks Rokkaku’s teacher for notifying him and agrees to the meeting. It may seem that Kurosawa isn’t involved in Rokkaku’s life, but that is only far from the truth.

Kurosawa is probably the most involved person in Rokkaku’s life, period. He’s aware of Rokkaku’s personality and how he behaves around other children.

He never usually means harm but the message never seemed to get across that way. That also doesn’t excuse his behavior. Kurosawa contacts his assistant that he would be leaving early to go to a school meeting and also notifies Fujisaki that she will not need to pick up Rokkaku from school today.

Kurosawa cleans up his work and clocks out for the day. It certainly helps when he is his own boss at a stable and successful company.

He goes to his car and heads immediately to Rokkaku’s school. When Rokkaku leads him to his teacher, Kurosawa never expected to meet the most handsome and most beautiful man he’s ever seen.

He almost loses his balance from even looking at him. Maybe today was his lucky day, he got to meet a literal angel.

After their introduction and heading to Adachi’s classroom, Kurosawa can’t help but wander his eyes around the room. The room is rather aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

The chosen colors balance each other out while giving children access to the colors they need. Montessori style it seems.

He’s thankful that Adachi is Rokkaku’s teacher. He’s extremely patient with him and also understanding while establishing reasonable boundaries with Rokkaku.

But God, those eyes that were looking at him are so full of color and light. His smile is so beautiful and easily made Kurosawa smile as well. His voice was like honey, clear and sweet.

If Kurosawa could just ask this man out right then and there, he definitely would. But he froze up so quickly and got shy, he wouldn’t dare do that upon meeting.

He can’t wait to see Adachi again just to space out and stare at that gorgeous face. He wants to know everything about this man.

Just then, interrupting his daydream of a date, Adachi walks in (in all his glory) and sits down in front of Kurosawa.

“I’m really sorry if this meeting is interrupting your schedule, but it’s super important.” Adachi speaks up. Kurosawa chuckles, “It’s quite alright, I understand. Rokkaku definitely isn’t the most angelic child ever.”

I would drop everything in a heart beat just for you.

They haven’t even met for a day yet and Kurosawa is already head over heels. Adachi just laughs.

Kuroawa mentally notes that he wants to hear that laugh again.

They discuss different methods and agree/disagree with some. The meeting ends up being only 30 minutes. Much to Kurosawa’s disappointment.

The entire time, Rokkaku was just reading the books that Adachi had on display.

While Kurosawa did pay attention the majority of the meeting, he can’t help but admit that he also got distracted a bit.

The way that Adachi worded his words and spoke with his hands, it completely had Kurosawa mesmerized.

This might be your only chance. Quick, think of an excuse!

“Uhm, is it okay if I have your phone number? I would really want to remain in contact with you,” Kurosawa nervously said.

He realized that this sounded a bit needy and quickly added, “For Rokkaku, of course.”

Adachi pondered for a bit before agreeing.

They exchanged numbers and Adachi helped Kurosawa and Rokkaku to the exit. They say their goodbyes before Adachi is contacted by his administrator.

”Are you still around? I would love for you to meet your student-teacher for the year.”

Adachi replies to the message and heads to the front office. He then sees a man who seems to be in his mid-20s.

The principal introduces them to each other and asks Adachi if he can show the student-teacher around. (Whose name turned out to be Daisuke Tenma).

Adachi doesn’t seem to notice the alluring and hungry look Daisuke seems to give him.
