Class 2A Horror Movie Night: The Conjuring

Summary:

Class 1A decides to have a movie night! And with a recommendation from one of their own, they decide on an American classic from the Pre Quirk Era 21st Century, The Conjuring. They faced terrifying villains and fought an actual war last year, so one movie shouldn't be a problem right?

Notes:

First Ever Fanfic. Please bear with me on this.

I do not own My Hero Academia nor The Conjuring. All rights go to Kouhei Horikoshi and Warner Bros.

Chapter Text

Prologue

It was a Saturday evening in October as Class 2A are finishing up their dinner together at their UA Heights Alliance dorms. Everyone mingled and chatted away with each other about their hero classes, the volunteering work for the post-war efforts, and many more topics among the class. Then an excited voice spoke up to address the entire class.

Ashido: So it's movie night! What are we feeling for?

Back in their first year, Class 1A used to have movie nights every 1-2 weeks when living in the dorms. It was one of the activities that brought everyone closer together outside of classes. But since starting their second years, they’ve been given more exhausting classwork along with aiding in the rebuilding efforts after the war. This meant less time and energy for weekly movie nights, so they switched to monthly.

As they finish their last bites or put away their dishes, most of the students shout the genres they’re interested in, which Iida lists on the class’ whiteboard. They will go their usual choice method of picking the option based on the highest volumes of “Yes and No” spoken towards the genre. A person can vote Yes for more than one option or not choose at all.

Iida: Lets start with Romance. (overwhelming No’s with a couple Yes from Ashido and Hagakure. Iida crosses it off, making Ashido pout for her pick as Hagakure pats her back in comfort)

Iida: Sports (Majority of class say no, and only few guys said yes. Iida crosses it off, with Kirishima giving a defeated smile at not getting his chosen.)

Sero: Sorry man, but a movie about competitive athletics just seems too big a reminder of our hero training. Which makes it exhausting to think about.

Kirishima (gives soft smile): It’s cool, I understand.

Iida: Next is Musical (Significant amount of No’s overtake Yes, eliminating musical. Hagakure pouts at the decision and Ashido comforts her with back pats)

Iida: Action (Some say Yes, but the most say No)

Shoji: We watched an action movie the last time.

(Bakugo grinds his teeth as the class nods in agreement and Iida crosses off “Action”)

Iida: Drama (Most of the guys and few girls say no, making Momo depressed at the elimination.)

Jiro (Gives Momo comforting smile): Sorry Yaomomo, but not everyone has the energy for a slow and probably long drama

Ashido: Yeah no offense, but we want something easy to watch.

Momo (accepts this with a small smile): I understand.

Iida: Ok now that leaves us with two options: (points) Pets...(All girls and Koda shout Yes, nobody saying no)...and Horror...(Some guys along with Jiro and Ashido say Yes, nobody say no). It looks like we’ll do the tie breaker.

Uraraka: Been a while since we had that.

Momo: Indeed. So we know the rules: Firstly, the ones who gave these ideas will each explain their specific pick of the movie that falls under this genre if they have any. Then (points to box with paper slips and pencil) we’ll place our votes in the box and do a count.

Koda: I’d like to go first if that’s ok.

Hasan (smiles): All yours, mate.

(Momo politely gestures him to speak and Koda explains his pet movie pick about an orphan and a dog. As he talks, Hasan gets a poke on the shoulder from Mineta for a conversation to whisper)

Mineta: Hey Hasan, does your horror movie involve any hot babes?

Hasan (looks up to remember, whispers): Well I barely remember the movie, but I do know there was one girl our age and she was very pretty.

Mineta (nods): ok ok, good start. And any...”dirty” scenes ya know...(grins with eyebrows wiggling)

Hasan (gives a smirk and avoids eye contact): Well...I’m pretty sure there was one moment of that happening...

Mineta (grins): That’s all I needed. Thanks dude. (goes back to his seat)

(Hasan watches him with an awkward chuckle until he notices a glare from Jiro, who heard their conversation. Hasan silently gestures her to wait and trust him. Jiro then rolls her eyes away, not fully convinced but decides to trust him)

(Koda finishes explaining his movie choice, with some of 2A giving approving replies. Hasan shares a genuine smile with Koda as he goes up to explain his movie)

Hasan: Ok so, I have a horror movie in mind that’s considered a classic back in the U.S. It’s an intense, ghost/demons type of scary that’s based on a true story. I did the research and confirm it’s legit, with of course Hollywood exaggeration added to the film. I also learned it was considered one of the best horror films in American cinema that came out in the pre-quirk era, being more than just awesome scares. I saw the beginning during a visit to my cousin’s house when I was starting junior high. While my family and I left for home before I could see the rest, I do remember it had good moments for non-horror fans. I only developed an interest for the film and horror in general a couple years later, but it wasn’t available to watch then. But with the streaming hookup UA gave us for the dorms has brought the chance back! The movie is called The Conjuring and I hope you guys are up for it. We can also watch it in Japanese too if you all prefer.

(The class gives an overall approving response, making Hasan smile. Then each 2A student walks up, writes down their movie vote and places it in the box. Once everybody has gone, Iida goes up and counts the votes)

Iida: (gives respectful smile) Ok everyone, The decision is clear. Having received 13 votes against 8, the movie we’ll be watching tonight is...Horror, The Conjuring!

Hasan and many of the voters give small cheers at the result and everyone else including Koda smile with acceptance and excitement for the movie. Snacks (Popcorn, candy, small cakes and biscuits) and Drinks (soda, tea, milk and water) are prepared by Sato and Momo as everyone takes their seats for the movie. Then Momo enters the activation code to use the streaming service that includes every available movie not currently in theatres. This was given by the UA Staff and was entrusted to her due to being the most responsible and less likely to give it away easily. They turn off most of the lights to provide a cinematic experience but left a few on for Tokoyami's control with Dark Shadow. Everyone is seated as they eagerly watch The Conjuring start to play, deciding to watch it in English with Japanese subtitles considering their past movie choices were the done the opposite way.

Notes:

I hope you all are interested in this to want to keep reading from here. So a few points to clear up:

Class 1A in this story have 21 students instead of 20. I apologize if that goes against any canon rules and I'm aware UA High has .2% acceptance rate, but I don't see how 1 extra student in the hero course would kill that (Screw Shinso's claim about stealing a hero student's spot to be part of the hero course!). I don't have the heart to replace any of them! They're all good kids (yes, even Mineta when push comes to shove) and I have too much respect to exclude any of them. The only reason Aoyama is gone is because that was his choice and what happened in the canon, which I respect.

Hasan Asghar is my self insert OC. He is a transfer student from the United States with British and Pakistani heritage (so do expect some English slang here and there). Because he's from the West, he's more comfortable being called by his first name instead of last, which everyone accepts without issue (Bakugo's nickname in the first year being "Gaijin" which means "foreigner" and I've read that's not offensive, but correct me if i'm wrong).
Hero name: Outreach
Quirk: Band-He can stretch parts or even his entire body to the length his muscles can take and retract at will. Going over the limit of the muscle strength will automatically retract (like a rubberband) and result in extreme aches for some time. (Basicallly similar to Kamala Khan from Marvel)

Also I know The Conjuring isn't close to being called a classic in real life currently. But considering that MHA takes places in the long distant future (few centuries to at most a millennia), I think its fair to assume it'd gain that reputation in my opinion.

Anyway, feedback is welcome (positive and constructive), so feel free to leave a comment. This is my first fanfic ever, so please be patient with me

Chapter 2: Dolls and Demons

Summary:

Movie begins as Class 2-A meets a famous face of our time

Chapter Text

(Movie opens with the WB logo are shown as ominous music is playing. Then the New Line Cinema logo is display and the music suddenly gets louder, causing some of the students to wince and cover their ears.)

Sero: Dude! Turn it down!

Hasan: Sorry. (lowers the volume enough to be tolerable, relaxing everyone)

Jiro: Ahhh better. Gotta say, definitely right music to set the horror tone.

(everyone nods as the movie begins with black screen, only hearing audio)

Debbie: It scares us just thinking about it. When you hear it, you're gonna think we 're insane.

Ed: Try us. Please, from the start.
(Suddenly shows a close up shot of Anabelle’s eye as it slowly zooms out to an over the shoulder shot of half of the Anabelle doll’s damaged face. Debbie is describing the weirdness she noticed of the doll)

Mineta (whispers aloud): Yeesh, that thing looks messed up.

(Nobody responds as they listen to the film.)

Ed: Ever think maybe somebody had a key to your apartment and was playing a trick?

Debbie: That's exactly what we thought. (film transitions to the people) But never once did we find any sign or evidence of intrusion.

Lorraine: And this all led you to believe that the doll was possessed?

Debbie: Yes. Camilla got in touch with a medium. We learned from her that a 7 year old girl named Annabelle Higgins had died in this apartment. She was lonely and took a liking to my doll. All she wanted was to be friends.

(Hagakure and Uraraka quietly awww while Midoriya, Momo and few others watch the movie with sympathizing faces)

Camilla: When we heard this, we felt really sorry for her. I mean, we're nurses, we help people. So....we gave her permission to move into the doll.

(Hagakure and Uraraka give a small smile until...)
Ed: Wait, you did what?
Camilla: She wanted to live with us by inhabiting the doll. We said yes)
(Doll is shown)
Kaminari (whispers): Mineta is right. That thing looks ugly.

Hagakure (whispers): Don’t be mean. Just needs some polish and care if I had it.

(Movie is in a Flashback of nurses picking up a note that says “Miss Me?”)

(Midoriya, Uraraka and few others each raise an eyebrow or tilt their head in confusion as they watch)

Debbie: When we came home, she was sitting in the hallway. But we had left her in the spare room.
(Red crayons are in Annabelle’s hands and the nurses look into the room she was suppossed to be in. The room is trashed with red scribble lines all over the walls, the lamp knocked over and flickering. Then the framed pictures of the nurses are shown cracked and deeply scratched across their faces. The nurses finally look at the scribble on the ceiling along with the words “Miss Me?”)
(Faces of uncomfort and nervousness are across the room except from Tokoyami, Todoroki, Shinso and Bakugo. The former three only have their eyes wide in surprise while Bakugo’s is neutral in not being fazed by this)

(a red crayon suddenly rolls to the nurses from the doll’s direction. Then Debbie goes and throws Annabelle and her note in the dumpster)

Sero: Good call. No taking chances there.

Iida (whispers aloud): Oh come now. It could’ve been gravity or surrounding building vibrations from others that made the crayon move. A coincidence.

Kaminari (whispers): What about the fricking room?!

(Iida looks away in defeat, having no explanation for that).

(Flashback goes to loud knocking at front that wakes up the nurses at night)

Bakugo (rolls his eyes): No one will be there.

(Debbie opens the door with Camilla behind her. No one is there or in the hall. Then Debbie sees Annabelle’s “Miss Me” note that she threw away. Then louder knocking comes from the closet door next to Camilla, who opens to find Anabelle.)

(Mineta, Ashido, Uraraka, Midoriya and Hagakure slightly bounce in their seats at the sudden noise from the second knock. Bakugo keeps a neutral and unamused face because he was right regardless not expecting the note).

Debbie: We are beyond terrified. We don't know what's going on or what to do. Can you help us?

Ed: Yes, we can. Now, firstly, there's no such thing as Annabelle, and there never was.

Lorraine: Ghosts don't possess such power. I think what we have here is something extremely manipulative. It's something inhuman.

Ed: It was a big mistake acknowledging this doll. And through that, the inhuman spirit tricked you. You gave it permission to infest your lives.

Camilla: What's an inhuman spirit?

Ed: It's something that's never walked the earth in human form. It's something demonic.

Debbie: So the doll was never possessed?

Lorraine: No, no, it was used as a conduit. It was moved around to give the impression of possession. Demonic spirits don't possess things, they possess people. It wanted to get inside of you.

(This makes everyone except Tokoyami and Bakugo wide their eyes and/or gulp in fear. Until...)

Dark Shadow: Am I an inhuman spirit?

Tokoyami: One could argue so. But all that matters that is you are only mine to be attached with and trusted to ensure no trouble follows us.

Dark Shadow: (knowing that he meant they’ll always be together as heroes) Aww Fumi! (nuzzles Tokoyami, who’s trying to ignores him with a serious face on. The fear in the room vanishes as the moment makes everyone except Bakugo smile or give a small laugh).

Ashido (in a teasing voice): Still want the doll in your room Toru?

Hagakure: Ok, shut up. I take back what I said before.

(This gets a laugh from Ashido, Ojiro, Mineta, and the students who didn’t laugh the first time. Hagakure gives small pout but also laughs as the mood has drastically lightened up. Bakugo rolled his eyes at their “stupidity” and Todoroki only smiled at seeing everyone cheer up).

Ed: So we got the church to send a priest over to bless the house and the occupants. Whatever was oppressing that apartment was no longer with them. Any questions? (chooses) Yes?

Student: Where's the doll now?

Lorraine: Someplace safe.

Student: Yep. So, what are you guys? I mean, what do people call you?

Ed: Uh, well, we've been called Demonologists. That's one name for us.
Ghost hunters, paranormal researchers.

Lorraine: Kooks.

Ed: Wackos.

Lorraine: But we prefer to be known simply as Ed and Lorraine Warren.

(The film suddenly stops as text scrolls up with spooky music, detailing the Warrens being real and the scary events that are gonna be shown actually happened. The Japanese subtitles help everyone understand what it says. What captures their attention is the mention of Lorraine’s clarvoiyant powers)

Ashido: Wait she had a quirk?

Hasan: Sorta. This took place in the pre quirk era. So back then, the idea of anyone having powers like hers outside of comics or tv were considered fake. So people believed the Warrens to be frauds, especially when there was no genetic evidence of powers in her. That’s why it wasn’t labelled a quirk by today’s standards. But she stated that her psychic abilities like visions and seeing the dead were a gift from God, if you have those beliefs. Being religious myself, I keep an open mind to it especially after learning her descendants today do have quirks similar to her powers. Plus, I’m pretty sure our lives now show that having powers was always possibility at some point you know?

(Ashido and Some in 2A, especially Midoriya, Iida, and Momo listened with interest while the rest placed most focus to reading the movie opening information.)

Iida: Fascinating.

Sato: How do you know all this?

Hasan (smiles): History is my favorite subject, remember? I’ve aways been interested in stuff that happened before quirks. Plus this case, it involves religion and took place in the U.S., all of which I relate with so I wanted to do more research.

Sato (impressed): Nice, man.

Tsu: Ribbit Guys, movie’s starting back on.

(All attention shifts back to the movie)

Notes:

So yeah this will be how we read Class 2-A watching The Conjuring. Feel free to comment your thoughts or questions! See you next chapter!

Chapter Text

(film starts back at family arriving to new home. Parents Carolyn and Roger with their five daughters going inside the house)

Midoriya: Whoa...big family...

Kaminari (smirks): Parents got busy~

Jiro: (jabs him with her earphone jack, blushing) None of us needed to hear that.

Mineta (oogling at the eldest one): Big sister is pretty hot though.

Jiro (turns to Mineta with deadly glare): You wanna be next?

Mineta (hands in the air, annoyed): Just saying.
(Jiro lowers her jack as Momo pats her shoulder to calm Jiro down)

Andrea (annoyed): So do I get to pick my own room? Or do I have no choice in that either?

Carolyn: Well, first cute boy she meets, she'll forget about Jersey.

Ashido: (snickers, whispers aloud) She’s right about that. I’d like to see it happen

Shinso (rolls his eyes): Yeah, YOU would.

(Ashido sticks her tongue out in response)

Roger: Come on, Sadie. (Sadie the dog won’t go in) Sadie, let's go. Hey, come. What's the matter with you? Hey, come on, girl. (dog still won’t go in) All right, suit yourself.

Momo: Aw that dog’s adorable!

Iida: I wonder what’s wrong with her.

(Hasan and Bakugo know but they say nothing. Bakugo is not interested in explaining and Hasan wants to wait for a better time.)

(Family moves in as Time Of The Season by The Zombies plays)

Jiro: Hmm like the song’s beat. I’ll check it out later (has it saved on her phone via app)

Todoroki: Family of 5 kids. That’s just one bigger than mine. (thinks about his older siblings, including Touya. Almost makes him sad, but he shakes his head before the thought goes further. He then observes his surroundings and mentally lists three physical traits he sees. He then discreetly does the same on a couple of the classmates within his sights. His therapy sessions with Hound Dog taught him this mindfulness technique to overcome any stressful thoughts Todoroki has. This helps Shoto take a small breath, allowing him to now smile with a sense of peace. Most of 2A notice his smile and look back to the movie with relief that Todoroki was fine.)

Cindy: Come on, April!! Mom wants us inside!!

April: Look what I found, Cindy. (zooms in on April holding a music box. She turns the knob and as the music plays, the area gets dark. It returns to normal when music stops But Cindy doesn’t notice and goes inside with music box).

Ojiro (concerned): I’m not the only one who noticed the lighting changing right?

Midoriya (concerned): No I saw it too...

Sato (whispers): Aw man, She’s taking in a cursed music box!

Hagakure (whispers, joining her hands to pray): Please don’t let it hurt her! She’s too young and adorable!

Ashido (whispering): Exactly!

(The film shows the girls play “Hide and Clap”)

Tsu: Huh, it’s like Hide and Seek with my siblings. But we didn’t clap Ribbit.

Ashido: Looks fun. We should do this game some time.

Iida: Not a bad idea. Could even be used for training.

Midoriya: Yeah you’re right. This could be a good way to train on relying on our other senses beside sight,whichwouldworkinsituationswherewewouldbeindarkareasonarescueorbattlesituationor...

Bakugo: NOBODY WANTS YOUR ANNOYING MUTTERING DURING THE MOVIE YA DAMNED NERD!

Midoriya: (gets red in embarrassment): Sorry.

(Uraraka lightly chuckles and pats his back in comfort)

Kirishima: Nobody likes to hear shouting during the movie either, man...

(Bakugo growls but closes his mouth, knowing Kirishima is right)

(Movie shows one of girls not actually clapping when requested by Christine)

Carolyn: (mouths) That's cheating.

Iida: Shameful behavior! Cheating and tricking her elder sister like that.

Kaminari (unamused): Really dude? I guess you never pulled that kind of joke on your brother?

Iida: Never! Such dishonesty towards my eldest brother is disrespectful and makes mockery of the Ingenium name!

Jiro: Pretty sure its more disrespectful as a hero student to yell during the movie like you are now.

(Iida freezes and slumps in his seat defeated and ashamed at Jiro’s point. Midoiya awkwardly pats his back to help Iida feel better).

Kaminari (whispers with smile): Nice one (offers fist bump)

Jiro (Whispers smugly, rolling her eyes): I know (gives fist bump)

(Christine grabs Nancy in closet and they accidently bump into the wall, breaking a piece that reveals hidden passage)

Roger: Whoa. I think we have a cellar or something.

All the Girls: I wanna see, I wanna see. Move, move, move.

(Carolyn keeps the girls back and Roger goes down with matches to see)

Carolyn: Roger? What do you see down there?

Roger: Just, uh, hard to tell, you know? It's an old piano and a whole bunch of garbage. (mathc goes out) Agh. Son of a.. (lights another match) Wow.

(Class 2A straightens themselves, preparing for jump scare)

Carolyn: Rog? Come on up.

Roger: I don't want you girls going down there. That place is loaded with spiders.

(The daughters creep out over the spiders, giving the 2A girls nostalgic shivers over childhood dislike of spiders)

Roger: We've got extra square footage anyway. I'll check it out in the morning.

Carolyn: I wonder why it was boarded up.

Roger: I don't know.

Carolyn: Okay guys, show's over.

(Class 2A relaxes as no scare is happening)

(Everyone goes to bed, leaving parents in their room but the dog is barking)

Carolyn: Something's up with Sadie.

Roger: Yeah, I don't know what her problem is. Couldn't get her to come inside.

Carolyn: We can't leave her out there.

Roger: She's all right. I got her on a chain. Sadie, hey, be quiet.

Carolyn: Thanks for making this work. I know it was a lot to bite off. It's gonna be great, isn't it?

Roger: I think it's great already.

Carolyn: Yeah. (they kiss) You still too fried to christen the new house?

Roger: Who said I'm fried?

(Ashido smirks at the married parents wanting to get frisky)

Ashido (whispers loudly): We gonna get daughter #6 now?

Momo (hand over her mouth, whispers loudly): Mina!

Mina (whispers loudly, grins) Whaaat? I’m not the only one thinking it. Plus they are parents already, so no stranger to baby making.

(Momo and the 2A girls, along with some of the boys, blush at the statement, making sure not to visualize it as the movie only cuts to the house before anything with the parents is shown. Instantly, Mineta and Kaminari are pissed and go over to Hasan behind his seat with wrathful glares)

Kaminari: Tell me that wasn’t the “dirty” scene you mentioned before...

Hasan (faking nervousness with a smile): Ehhh, it was.

Mineta: YOU BASTARD! YOU TRICKED US!

Hasan (nervously smiles with a laugh): Hey now, I never said how much the scene would reveal nor who was involved.

Mineta (gritting his teeth): Why you...

Iida (karate chops Mineta and Kaminari on their heads and sternly whispers loudly with a glare): Enough you two! No more of this nonsense for the rest of the movie!

Mineta and Kaminari (whispers sadly): Ok...

(Hasan gives sincere sorry gesture towards them)

Mineta (mutters to himself): Well, at least he was honest about the hot nee-chan.

Notes:

So Todoroki's technique he learned from therapy here is an actual exercise to practice mindfulness and reduce anxiety/stress. Let me know if I didn't use it right and I apologize if so.

Also yes, everyone in Class 1-A does have mandatory therapy check-ins with Hound Dog, who is the canon counselor at UA. They're kids who went through hell and back in just their first year of high school ffs! The healing of their mental health needs to be given attention, especially since the canon wasn't able to address it before the manga ended. So do expect moments like this.

Chapter 4: Beginnings

Summary:

Class 2A sees the first signs of a haunting, along with the first death in the movie.

Warning: Mention of animal death and abuse

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

(Film transitions to Carolyn wakes up to a creaking sound and then notices a bruise on her leg. She’s confused but goes to see everyone else up)

Shinso (sarcastically): Well that isn’t suspicious at all.

Andrea: You think maybe we could have bought a house with a toilet that actually works?

Carolynn: Tell your father.

Andrea: And there was a funky smell in my room last night. Like something died.

Carolyn: Is it still there?

Andrea: No.

Carolyn: Problem solved.

Momo: That seems a bit negligent...

Uraraka: Makes sense though. Used to happen at my house. Some stuff just comes and goes. (remembers how poor her family used to be, glad that their business is booming now after the war.)

Momo: I see...(being from a rich family Momo never had that issue, usually being proactive with repairs. But she’s learned it’s better not to mention for the sake of respect and humility towards her friends).

(Carolyn finds Roger in cellar)

Carolyn: Ooh. Whoa. This is gonna take some serious elbow grease. Yeah. Oh, my God. What are we gonna do with all this stuff?

Roger: Well, we probably ought to go through it, you know? There might be some antiques down here worth a lot of money

Carolyn: Yeah, or just a lot of junk the previous owner didn't want.

Roger: It's ours now. Knock yourself out.

(They play with a ball)

Carolyn: I'm gonna make some coffee. Okay.

Roger: I'm gonna see if I can get this furnace working.

Carolyn: Yeah, that'd be nice. It's freezing.

(As Carolyn gets coffee, she notices the clock stopped at 3:07)

April: Sadie!! Come here, Sadie!! Mommy!! Mommy, where's Sadie?

Carolyn: She's outside. You know, I'm sure she's hungry by now. Why don't you go and get her.

Hagakure (whispers): Ok so what was up with the dog? Did it have something to do with a haunted house?

Hasan (whispers): Yeah. So the thing is, dogs can actually detect spirits and demons. Its like animal instinct or sixth sense they have. At least in the movies. There’s no serious evidence it’s true though.

Ojiro: That’s pretty cool if it is true.

(I nod and we continue watching, not noticing Koda’s worry)

Carolyn: This clock stopped at 3:07, and so did the one in the hallway.

Roger: That's weird. Maybe it got knocked around in the move.

Carolyn: Speaking of knocked around, what did you do to me last night? (shows bruise)

Roger: Ouch. I didn't do that.

Ashido (whispers aloud with a smirk): Oooh, how ki-

Jiro (raises ear jack, whispers aloud): Mina I swear, I will jab this through your head if you finish that sentence.

Ashido (rolls eyes with a teasing voice): Ok jeez, was just kidding.

(Suddenly all attention is to the movie as April screams and the parents rush outside to her. They find her with Sadie the dog dead)

Hagakure: NOT THE DOGGO!

Momo (sad): Of course the dog would be in danger if it could sense the evil spirits. Should’ve expected that

Kaminari (whines): Still doesn’t change how it suuucks

(As Ashido and Hagakure comedically hug each other in tears over Sadie’s death along with few others slightly mourning, Hasan notices Koda slightly shaking with an upset look with Shoji holding his shoulder to comfort. Feeling guilty, Hasan  grab’s Koda’s other shoulder.)

Hasan (whispers): Ah Koda, I’m sorry! I forgot about the dog when suggesting the movie. Had I realized sooner, I would've given you a heads up to be more prepared. Should’ve told you as soon as I saw the animal.

Koda (breathes out through his nose then looks at me with a small smile, no longer shaking): It’s ok Hasan. I know it’s just a movie and you meant no harm. And we didn’t see the death happen, so it’s fine.

Hasan (gives small smiles): Yeah, pretty sure I would’ve remembered in that case heh. But this does remind me we’ll see birds being hurt so be ready ok?

Koda (gives determined look): Right. Thanks, (looks at Shoji) both of you.

(Shoji and Hasan nod at Koda and everyone continues watching the movie, everyone all calmed down)

(Movie shows Ed letting in a reporter)

Ed: Feel free to look around. Just don't touch anything.

Reporter: Wow. This is crazy. So all these are taken from cases you've investigated?

Ed: That's right. Everything you see in here is either haunted, cursed or has been used in some kind of ritualistic practice. Nothing's a toy. Not even the toy monkey. (reporter is about to touch) Don't touch it.

Reporter: Oh, ahem. Well, isn't it scary, or doesn't it worry you to have all these items right in your home?

Ed: That's why we have a priest that comes by once a month to bless the room. Well, the way I see it is: It's safer for these things to be in here than out there. It's kind of like keeping guns off the street.

Reporter: Why not just throw them in an incinerator? Destroy them.

Ed: Well, that would only destroy the vessel. Sometimes it's better to keep the genie in the bottle.

Momo (whispers to herself): Interesting.

Uraraka (whispers aloud): Kinda like all the rituals by the Shinto priests here.

Hasan (whispers aloud): Yeah basically.

Ojiro (whispers): A lot of stuff though, hard to believe each one came from fighting demons.

Hasan (shrugs and whispers): Well, anything is possible depending on your beliefs or choice of faith. Widens your perspective a bit.

(Ed shows reporter the Doll behind a glass case)

Reporter: You said she's a conduit? That's right. What does that mean?

Ed: A very powerful demonic has latched itself onto her.

Reporter: So when you guys investigate these hauntings....how do you stop them from latching onto you?

Ed: We have to take great precaution.

Reporter: But what about your wife?

Ed: What about her?

Reporter: Well, Father Gordon told me that..

Ed: Well, that was different. What happened to my wife happened during an exorcism.

Reporter: Well, what's the difference?

Ed: Excuse me. (finds his daughter hiding in the room) Honey, what are you doing?

Ashido (whispers): Aww they have a daughter!

Hagakure (whispers aloud): She’s cute!

Iida (whispers aloud): A bit concerning to have her in a house that also includes cursed objects. Definitely shouldn’t be sneaking like that either

Hasan (whispers aloud): Well everything does seem to be in a locked room, along with the measures they took for the spirits, so it should be fine. Plus, she seems aware about staying away, but kids are still curious. Looks like she understands not to go in again here though.

Bakugo (whispers aloud): With them focusing on that creepy ass doll, I doubt it ends there for the brat.

Sero: Not cool man.

Bakugo (whispers loudly): Hey you know I’m right!

Tsu: Well we should still hope for them to be ok in the end. Look how happy the family is Ribbit.

Ashido: I know right! For ghost and demon hunters, they’re so wholesome!

Uraraka (with a slightly worried look): Hasan, is this story gonna end...badly? I know horror films usually end on a dark note.

Tokoyami: Revelry in the dark.

Hasan: From what I remember from my research on the true story, I doubt it.

Kirishima: Alright, we trust you dude.

(Hasan smiles and nods as everyone continues watching The Conjuring. The scene show Sadie’s grave which causes Ashido, Hagakure, Kirishima, Kaminari, Uraraka, Koda, Momo and Midoriya to give a brief praying gesture in respect)

(Scene shifts to clocks stopping at 3:07 then to daughters Nancy and Christine's bedroom. They see Christine getting pulled briefly by something invisible and complain about smell but the daughters only blame each other . Class 2A watches with at least some interest. Then the scene cuts to a tv on static to Roger waking up to noises from a door, shutting the tv static and goes to check. He sees the house back door open and close 3 times, before slowly opening widely, causing some students to get nervous)

Mineta (whimpers): Oh shit...

Iida (whispers aloud): Language!

Sero (whispers aloud): Dude that’s the least of our worries! He’s going to the door!

(Class 2A prepares for a jump scare but nothing happens when Roger checks it. This relaxes everyone until He hears a noise and as he goes to check upstairs. Then camera suddenly shifts to the Andrea standing on the stairs, causing a Hagakure, Ashido, Mineta and Uraraka to flinch at the surprise but instantly relax when she speaks normally, realizing she's not a ghost or possessed)

Andrea: Dad?

Roger: Andrea, what are you doing out of bed? What's that sound?

Andrea: It's Cindy. She's in my room. She's sleepwalking again. (they both find her sleepwalking bumping her head at a wardrobe, disturbing few in 2A) I've never seen her do this before. I remembered you saying not to wake her if she's like this.

Roger: No, we just put her back to bed.

(He takes Cindy backs to her room, with Andrea and Roger going to bed)

Tsu: Well that wasn’t as bad as I thought Ribbit

(Most of the students nod, but feel a bit uneasy on what could be next.)

Sero: Surprised they treated the sleepwalking as normal.

Hasan: Well from what the dad said. Sounds like it’s common for the kid.

Sero: I guess...

Notes:

So yeah, I'm sure having a quirk of talking to animals makes Koda more sensitive about animal lives than a regular person would. Next chapter coming sooner as the horror starts picking up

Chapter 5: First Contact

Summary:

Class 1A gets a first taste of what The Perrons are gonna be dealing with for the rest of the movie

Notes:

Warning: brief description of animal abuse/death

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Carolyn: She's sleepwalking again? She hasn't done that for a while.

(Sero and Hasan share a look and shrug, acknowledging both of them were right)

Roger: She ended up in Andrea's room too. I think kind of freaked her out.

Carolyn: That's not good. What are we gonna do? I don't know.

Roger: Honey, you got another bruise here. Hmm? Does that hurt?

Carolyn: That's weird.

Ashido (smiles nervously, whispers): Ok, not hickey...

(Hasan and few students give a small chuckle while everyone else either ignores or didn’t hear the joke)

(As Roger leaves he sees a bird crash to the house, breaking its neck and flapping on the ground as it dies)

(Disturbed looks go through Class 2A, some looking at Koda to see if he’s ok. Koda takes a deep breath and gives them a reassuring small smile with a determined look that he’s fine. This convinced his friends and they shift back to the movie)

(We hear youngest daughter April talking to someone)

April: I miss Sadie a lot. She was my best friend. (Everyone in 2A has a sympathetic/sad look hearing that, even Bakugo slightly) You're my friend, right? Yeah, let's play!

(Movie then reveals April, but there’s nobody else with her. The class watches with a mix of confusion and concern)

Carolyn: Who are you talking to?

April: Rory.

Carolyn: Rory?

April: He's my new friend.

Carolyn: Oh, really?

April:Yeah, do you want to see him? Carolyn Yeah. Uhhuh. How?

April: With this. When the music stops, you see him in the mirror standing behind you.

(Everyone straighten themselves, being ready for a scare)

(Music is playing and Carolyn notices curtains moved behind her in the mirror, also observed by the some students. Class 2A minus Bakugo holds their breath in the suspense as the music stops)

April: (appears behind her mother) Boo, Mommy!!

(The students flinch and release their breaths. Some laugh, some are annoyed)

Mineta: Really?!

Ojiro: Gotta admit, that was a good trick on all of us.

Bakugo: Only you guys are dumb enough to fall for it!

(Everyone ignores the insult with amused looks and goes back to watching)

Carolyn: Well, okay, I guess Rory doesn't want to see me, huh?

April: Hmm. Oh, well. Can we play hide and clap?

Carolyn (tired): Hide and cla..? Oh, honey, I don't want to play.

April: Please!! Nobody ever lets me play.

Carolyn (smiles): Okay, okay.

April: (blindfolds her mom) Remember, you get to ask me for three claps.

Ashido: Ok We’re definitely getting an actual scare here.

Shoji: Be surprising if we didn’t

(Class 2A watches as Carolyn is looking for the daughter blindfolded for their game. The wardrobes opens behind her, causing the students minus unamused Bakugo, Shinso and Hasan to straighten themselves in preparation)

Carolyn: Oh, I know where you're hiding. Give me the third clap.

(Very long, pale hands come out behind the clothes and clap. The students watch with nerves and anticipation rising as Carolyn goes to wardrobe)

Carolyn: I'm gonna get you now. (Breathing is heard from wardrobe, causing 2A to each hold their own) I can hear you breathing.

(Carolyn reaches into wardrobe, but feels nothing. Confused, she takes off blindfold to get better look, but nothing is there. Then April casually appears behind her from a distance)

April: Ha, ha. You took your blindfold off. I win!! You weren't even warm, Mom. I was in Christine and Nancy's room.

(Carolyn looks at wardrobe confused but lets it go. The class release their breaths, some in frustration and pauses movie)

Jiro: Ok is the whole movie gonna be like this? Because this is ridiculous.

Hasan (laughs): Don’t worry, It won’t be.

Ashido: I need scares dude!

Shinso: Yeah it’s not a bad movie, but so far barely anything serious happened. The creepy doll isn’t enough.

Hasan: (points to the tv) Guys look, we’re not even halfway. I Promise, it’s gonna pick up.

Bakugo: I’ll kick your ass if it doesn’t.

Hasan (unworried, smiles): Fair enough (resumes The Conjuring).

(Class 2A watches as the movie as it quickly shows Christine and Nancy asleep again. They watch as an invisible force slightly pulls Nancy’s leg)

Christine (tired): Stop it, Nancy. It's not funny anymore. I'm trying to sleep, please stop grabbing my feet.

(Then her leg is pulled with much more force, dragging Christine on the bed and fully waking her up. The class watch but are relaxed due to being misled the last couple times)

( Christine looks to see her sister is still asleep. Scared, she looks around her room but sees nothing. She starts to think what’s pulling her leg is under the bed, hesitates but then slowly looks down as creepy music starts playing. Mineta and Hagakure hold their breath. Music stops and Christine sees nothing under the bed. However, she hears her open room door creak and then sees it move a bit. She gets back up and watches as the door slowly moves some more. Christine’s looks at the dark space behind the door, her face becoming horrified and breathing is heard from the black space. All the eyes in 2A start widening.)

Christine (crying): Nancy? Nancy?

Nancy (wakes up tiredly) What are you doing? (notices how scared her sister is and is worried) Christine? Are you all right?

Christine: Do you see it?

Nancy: See what?

(The scene shifts from the sisters to a wide shot of them looking at the space behind the open door)

Christine (points at the dark space): There's someone behind the door.

Nancy: What?

Christine: There's someone standing over there.

Nancy: I don't see anyone.

Christine: It's looking right at us.

(Hasan and some of 2A are trying to see the figure, even squinting, but don’t see it.)

(Nancy gets up to get a closer look)

Christine: Nancy, don't!! Nancy.

Nancy (at the space behind door) No, no. Look. Look. Look, there's no one here. See? Ugh. It's that smell again!

(Scene instantly shifts to Christine’s face)

Christine (her face gets more horrified with her eyes wide): Oh, my God.

(Everyone in Class 2A goes stiff as the scenes shifts to a closer look at Nancy in front of the dark space behind the door)

Christine: It's standing right behind you.

(Only pitch black darkness is shown behind Nancy, but Heavy breathing is heard, causing all the students to hold in their breaths. Nancy slowly looks behind her)

(Scene goes silent for a few seconds until the door suddenly slams shut on its own. Both girls scream and almost everyone in 2A bounces in their seat with small yelps from Mineta, Kaminari, Ashido and Hagakure. Only Bakugo, Shinso and Todoroki do not, staring with their eyes wide instead in surprise.)

(The parents hear the screams and rush to the girls. After brief difficulty with the door, They find Chistine screaming in tears and Nancy standing in the same place shocked)

Christine (crying):  No!! No!! No!!

Roger: What's going on? What happened?

Christine: There was someone else in here!!

Roger: What? Where?

Christine: By the door. It was behind the door.

Roger: Honey, there's nothing in here. There's nobody in here.

Christine: There was someone else in here!! I was just sleeping, and then I felt somebody grab my feet. So I thought it was Nancy.

(Scene shows Nancy very worried along with the other daughters awake at the door)

(Class 2A is silent as all eyes are on the TV)

Roger: Well, honey, I'm pretty sure that it was just a bad dream.

Christine (crying): No! No! It talked to me!! It said....that it wants my family DEAD.

(Faces among Class 2A ranged from disturbed, shocked, or horrified upon hearing that. Momo has her mouth covered with her hand as Tsu, Koda and Hagakure did the same)

Midoriya: Ok, that was freaky.

(While he faced true fear last year with Shigaraki and All For One, Midoriya still felt the scene was disturbing especially after the last sentence)

Shinso: Alright Hasan, we stand corrected. This might get intense after all.

Sato: Our bad, man.

(Ashido and Jiro nod in agreement)

Hasan (taking a breath with a scared smile): No worries guys. It was actually right after this scene, when my parents called me that it was time to leave my cousins’ house. So I don’t know what happens next from here.

Kaminari: Well I was not ready for that scene!

Ashido: None of us were after being misled the last few times!

Hasan: Yeah I like it. Taking advantage of the known jump scare set ups and using it for misdirection. Tricking us into lowering our guard before delivering a legit scare. Basically, to quote Aizawa-Sensei: (gives a poor impression of Aizawa’s smile) “ A Logical Ruse”.

(This earns a laugh from some of the students, lightening up the mood drastically).

Iida: Alright, shall we continue the film?

Bakugo: OBVIOUSLY! NO WAY WE LET A DUMB MOVIE SCARE US OFF WHEN WE ALREADY FACED WORSE!

(Everyone agrees and so they shift their attention back to the movie, rewinding a little to see hear what they missed)

Notes:

Yeah that door scene freaked me out too, even though nothing was shown. Joey King gave such a solid performance that it's no surprise how her career has done so well since then! As always, leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next

Chapter 6: Two Sides

Summary:

The Horror goes to a much higher level for Class 2A as the Perrons reach their limit

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

(Scene shows Ed and Lorraine Warren discussing a possible case)
Lorraine: I know you're worried it's gonna happen again.

Ed: Yeah, I am. I really am. Maybe it's just time we take a break. Write that book.

Lorraine: Do you remember what you said to me on our wedding night?

Ed: "Can we do it again?"

(Ashido, Mineta, Kaminari, Hasan laugh hard hearing that while Momo, Uraraka, and Midoriya have light blushes across their faces. Everyone else gives either an amused smile or a neutral look. Being 16-17 years old, Class 2A are all aware and mature enough to handle the topic of sex and lust when slightly brought up. But aside from Mineta, Kaminari and Ashido, it’s not a reoccurring thought for the students so a few of them still hold a small degree of innocence towards the idea)

Lorraine: You said that God brought us together for a reason. Right? I'm pretty sure it's not to write a book. I'm gonna get dressed.

Hagakure: Those two are such relationship GOALS!

Ashido: They’re MARRIAGE goals!

Hasan: (chuckles) You’re both right about that.

(Rest of Class 2A either smile or roll their eyes in amusement at the comments as they watch the movie cutting to a different house the Warrens were called for)

(Ed explains to the young couple noises that the noises that bothered them came from house having construction faults, no ghosts or demons).

Boy: So this place isn't haunted?

Lorraine: No, it rarely is. Yeah, there's usually always some kind of rational explanation.

Uraraka : Wow the Warrens do stuff like this that prove not every problem involves the occult. And yet people still call them phonies.

Ojiro: Maybe it’s because those situations don’t get media attention like the actual hauntings do, So people don’t know they do this work too.

Ashido: Or they just plain out haters.

(Majority of class nod in agreement as they go back to the film, which shows Carolyn having more bruises. The sight causes few students to wince and some to look with concerned eyes)

(Carolyn hearing childish laughing and a couple hand claps)

Carolyn: Girls, it's way past your bedtime.

(She checks all the rooms and all the girls are asleep. Suddenly loud crashing is heard, startling  few of the students, and Carolyn goes and finds all the hanged pictures were crashing down from walls)

Jiro: (whispers aloud) Did anybody else hear laughing when those pictures crashed down?

(Only Midoriya and Iida nod their heads, while the rest were got slightly more nervous except Bakugo, Shinso and Todoroki who watch with focus)

(Carolyn looks around downstairs until she hears clapping again)
Carolyn: Who is that?!

(Carolyn looks around more until she hears door to cellar open behind her, despite being fully closed. Then she hears piano in cellar play a couple keys. Class 2A watch with full attention. She briefly looks in, sees no one and quickly steps back.)

Carolyn: Whoever’s down there, I'm gonna lock you in now!! (Then the door out of cellar slams in her face, and she falls down the stairs. Some of the students wince at the sight. The tension slowly rising as Carolyn stares around at cellar until the ball from earlier is thrown from a corner by someone hidden. Some students to widen their eyes as loud, creepy music plays and Carolyn runs up to the stairs out of the cellar with the cellar light bulb bursting.)

(The film is pitch black and as Carolyn screams for a help, the childish laughter is heard again. This time, all of 2A heard it as they watch with silent, undivided attention and fearful tension is rising. An afraid Carolyn lights a match which works until it goes out and then she lights another one, looking at the cellar’s darkness in front her.)

Kid: (whispers) Hey, wanna play hide and clap? (hands appear right next to Carolyn from behind her and clap. Half of the students flinch as she screams and The match goes out, but scene quickly shifts to the outside of the door that rattles as she’s trying to get out.)

(Everyone watches with wide eyes and the movie cuts to the eldest daughter Andrea waking up to thumping noises. She sees Cindy is sleepwalking and bumping herself into the wardrobe like before. Andrea guides her little sister to bed)

Andrea: Okay, you can just sleep with me tonight, all right?

(Tension in the students is only slightly lowered at the caring display from the usually angsty Andrea. But it rises back by a small amount as the wardrobe doors start to move, being knocked on from the inside. They stop as Andrea moves to see what’s inside.

(As sinister music plays, Cindy rises in a slow, creepy way with eyes wide own open in a neutral blank face, causing most of 2A hold their breath in agitation. Andrea opens the wardrobe and sees nothing.)

Cindy: (has a normal, but very scared look on her face, staring slightly up and gives a loud gasp).

(Andrea notices this and looks up at what Cindy is seeing: a figure dressed in white on top of the wardrobe. Loud music plays as the camera zooms in on the figure’s face, revealing to be pale, demonic looking woman with bloodshot eyes baring her rotten teeth like she’s roaring.)

Hasan (jumps in his seat): Bloody Hell! (Simultaneously, The rest of the students  either give a small scream or at least jump in their seats at the reveal. Bakugo, Shinso and Todoroki do neither but give a small flinch. These reactions last to the next scene of the demonic woman pouncing on to Andrea as she screams. While it does not even compare to their past experiences of the first year, goosebumps are still felt to an extent by everyone.)

Roger comes home to hear screaming and rushes into the house. He frees Carolyn from the cellar and both rush up to Andrea. A terrified Cindy runs out the room to her parents for help and Andrea is shown screaming on the floor, tossing and turning despite the scary woman no longer there. Seeing her like this makes shifts Midoriya, Uraraka, Tsu, Momo, Shoji and Ashido’s faces from fear to pained worry about the girl’s wellbeing )

Roger: Somebody, goddamn it, tell me what's going on here? (and film zooms out of house)

Sero (shocked): Isn’t that the question?!

Jiro: What the Fuck was that thing?!

Iida (still slightly disturbed at what he saw): L..Language!

Midoriya (To Jiro, with nervous smile): Pretty Sure we’re gonna find out later.

Mineta: Ok. Ghost lady is confirmed NOT the hot kind!

Ashido: Ho-hOOOkaay, this movie living up to its horror genre. (smiles at Hasan) Nice choice Hasan!

Hasan: (Takes breath and gives nervous laugh) Thanks Ashido.

Ojiro (chuckles): That was a pretty good jump scare.

(Once the moment died down in half a minute, Class 2A mood went back to normal as everyone enjoyed the scare.)

Shinso: So...we’re still watching it right?

Hagakure: Duh! The scares are what makes it fun to watch!

Kirishima: Yeah! Stopping now wouldn’t be manly at all!

Bakugo: If any of you idiots let a dumbass movie bother ya, then just forget being a hero at this point and fuck off outta UA!

Iida: Bakugo! Enough of the vulgar talk!

(The students watch with amusement, some having a brief giggle, as Iida scolds Bakugo, who only rolls his eyes in annoyance and ignoring the lecture. But everyone is good with watching the rest of the The Conjuring.)

Hasan: Alright, let’s rewind it to where we were. But let’s not do this again for the rest of the film.

(Everyone agrees and they get back to the movie)

Notes:

The dialogue with the students is mostly in Japanese but they speak English sometimes, especially for their American classmate to understand. That's why I'm not distinguishing when English is being spoken. By this point, Hasan has learned to speak Japanese very well through separate classes with Cementoss during Class 1A's English Class. This was my headcanon for any U.A foreign transfer students like Pony Tsunotori to learn the language. I'm not sure this happens with exchange students real life, but I think it's passable for My Hero Academia's world. Living in the dorms with everyone also improved Hasan's Japanese and he was able to help his classmates with their English in return. So as second years, they can all communicate and understand each other with little trouble.
As always, leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next!

Chapter 7: Memories

Summary:

The Warrens giving a lecture brings back some painful memories for a couple students

Notes:

Warning: Direct mentions of suicide and sexual abuse, along with a moment of borderline PTSD.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Ed: Fear is defined as a feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. Whether it's a ghost, a spirit or an entity, they all feed on it. (points at film reel being shown) Take Maurice here. A French Canadian farmer with no more than a third grade education, yet after he was possessed, spoke some of the best Latin I'd ever heard. Sometimes backwards. He'd been molested by his father, who had also tortured him repeatedly.

(Looks of Shock, Anger and disgust were across all of the students’ faces upon hearing that.)

Ed: A dark spirit made its home in this man.

Lorraine: Now, if you look into his eyes, you can see him tearing blood. And like that an upside down cross started to appear from within his body.

Sero: Jesus Christ...

Hasan (eyes watching the movie in shock): Nah, not in that case...

(that line earned a couple of small and nervous laughs as everyone was still disturbed about what Maurice experienced)

Student: Did you personally perform the exorcism?

Ed: No, I'm not authorized. But I've assisted on many. See, an exorcism can be very dangerous. Not only for the victim, but for anyone in the room.

Student: What happened to Maurice?

Ed: Well, He tried to kill his wife but instead shot her in the arm and then turned the gun on himself.
(A few gasps were heard as Momo and Uraraka cover their mouths in shock while the rest of Class 2A continue watch with their eyes and mouths wide in shock and sadness)

Ed: Maurice had a very troubled life with little to live for and not even an exorcist could bring him back. Which brings us to the three stages of demonic activity: Infestation, oppression and possession.. .

As the movie details the stages, Midoriya shifts his eyes down to the floor as he remembers Tomura Shigaraki. How much suffering he went through as Tenko Shimura before becoming the villain. And how he was unable to save him and ended Shigaraki’s life instead. It was all similar to what Maurice went through and Ed’s last words for him reminded Deku of the lesson he learned in those hard times, of how not everyone can be saved. Despite his therapy sessions with Hound Dog and assurances from Gran Torino and All Might that it wasn’t his fault nor made him less of a hero, the guilt in Midoriya still festers.

As he fights the urges to let tears form in his eyes, he feels a hand placed on top of his. Deku instantly looks up to see Uraraka gently holding his hand with a concerned, sympathetic look on her face.  Looking at her, Midoriya remembers that she’s been feeling the exact same way about Himiko Toga and thinks back to their second talk on the cliff near Troy. When he told her that holding a hand can be enough to soothe the pain. Bringing himself to the present, Midoriya looks down at Uraraka’s hand and slowly but gently holds it back. He then looks at her giving a small, but genuine smile to let his best friend, the one he cares so much about, his hero, know that he’s currently ok. This allows Uraraka to smile back, accepting the answer from the boy she loved. No words were spoken, but their silent conversation was still noticed by Iida, Bakugo, Tsu, Todoroki and Hasan who all watch with satisfaction that their friends were alright.

Bakugo (internally): Get a room you two.

(After Midoriya and Uraraka separate their hands with slight blushes in their cheeks, All eyes are then focused back to the movie which shows Ed and Lorraine about to leave)

Drew: There's someone here that would like to talk to you.

(The movie shows Drew introducing Carolyn)

Lorraine: How can we help you?

Carolyn: There's something horrible happening in my house. Could you come and take a look?

Ed: You know, uh, it's getting kinda late. We really need to head to our family.

Carolyn: You don't understand.

Ed: But we do. There's usually some sort of rational explanation..

Carolyn: I have five daughters who are scared to death. I'm so afraid this thing wants to hurt us. You have a daughter. Wouldn't you do anything you could to protect her? Please. Please can you come and take a look?

Lorraine (gives sympathetic look): Of course, we will.

Notes:

Yeah sorry for such a short chapter but I thought this would be a good stopping point in the story since everything else before and after this chapter's scene of The Conjuring would flow better separately. As such, I will post the next one sooner than usual
Also leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next!

Chapter 8: Enter The Warrens

Summary:

With Warrens arriving at the Perron house, everyone gets a better look at what's going on

Notes:

I meant to post this earlier in the week, but got distracted by the usual work and life stuff. But thank you all for your patience!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

( Class 2-A watches as the Warrens arrive at the house and exchange greetings with Carolyn and Roger)

Lorraine (sees the daughters): Oh, my God. Look at you all. Who are these beautiful young women?

Carolyn: This is Andrea, the oldest, Nancy, Cindy, Christine and April. (To the girls) It’s Mr. and Mrs. Warren. We're all sleeping down here now. The girls feel safer and it's warmer. I'm constantly turning up the heat, but the house is always freezing.

Roger: It's not a problem with the furnace. I mean, not that I can find.

(Ed and Lorraine look around)

Carolyn: It's gotten a lot worse the past few nights. There's this awful smell, like rotting meat. It moves around the house. (she notices Ed and Lorraine share a look). What? What is it?

Ed: Well, rancid smells could indicate some type of demonic activity.

Carolyn (scared): Oh, my God.

(Ed notices the doors to the other room are locked with rope tied up around the knobs)

Roger: That's to keep those doors from banging at night. Otherwise, it's like: (Roger bangs on wall as demonstration) All night long, just like that.

Ed: Does it come in threes? It stops at dawn?

(Roger confirms both actions happening)

Ed: Well, sometimes it's meant as an insult to the Trinity: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

(Hasan raises his eyebrows in surprise at how that random sound actually had an specific meaning of disrespect)

Roger: You know, it's the damndest thing, but we also get all kinds of birds that will just fly against the side of the house and break their necks.

Ed: Hm. Really?

Carolyn: And the clocks stop at 3:07 a.m.

Lorraine: All of them?

Carolyn: Every one. (sees lorraine look at the framed pictures) Oh, we were hanging those along the stairs. Something just kept knocking them down, so we stopped hanging them up. (She shows the Warrens the wardrobe and mentions the cellar.)

Lorraine: Show me the cellar. (They all go into the cellar and the scene shifts to Lorrraine hearing all kinds of scream and a voice saying “what she made me do”)

Ed: You picking up anything in here, hon?

Lorraine: Something awful happened here, Ed.

(Scene shifts to Ed talking to the Perron parents at the dining table)

Ed: Those bruises, they from something that happened here?

Carolyn: Oh, it's some iron deficiency thing I have.

(This raises a few eyebrows among the students, knowing that’s not the case)

Ed: You know, with all that's been going on, why haven't you just moved out?

Roger: I don't know where we'd move to, you know? We got all our money tied up in this place and had a lot of repairs on top of that. And I don't know anybody whose gonna take in a family of seven indefinitely.

Carolyn: That's why we tracked you down.

Ed: We're glad you found us. All right, let's get started. (starts recording) My name is Ed Warren. It's November 1st, 1971. I'm sitting here with Carolyn Perron, who, with her family, has been experiencing supernatural occurrences. Okay, go ahead.

Carolyn: Where do I start?

Ed: From the first occurrence.

Carolyn: I guess it was the clocks.

(scene shifts to Lorraine and April)

Lorraine: Mom and Dad tell me that you have a friend.

April: His name's Rory. He lives here too. But he's always sad.

Lorraine: Why is that?

April: He won't tell me, but I think something bad happened to him.

Lorraine: Do you mind if I try to see Rory?

( April hands the music box to Lorraine, who winds it up and starts playing. As the music plays, she look’s at the box’s mirror for anything to see behind her. Nothing appears in the reflection at first. Then another look in the mirror reveals Rory, a boy in a colonial outfit, behind her. Everyone’s eyes grow wide at the sight, few students even tensing up a little. Lorraine looks behind her and nothing is there ).

(Lorraine then walks out to the backyard with the creek and large tree where the music box was found, looking around. Ed appears and makes himself known as he approaches her from behind. Lorraine deep stare to the horizon is interrupted as she hears the creaking of rope, fear showing her face. She looks behind her and sees Ed)

Ed (concerned): What is it (Lorraine stares above Ed and the movie shows through an over the shoulder shot of what she’s seeing: A pair of pale feet belonging to a body behind Ed. This startles most of the students, holding their breaths thinking the demon woman from before is about to attack. Lorraine is staring above him, while Ed follows her line of sight but sees nothing. Lorraine starts to look weary and struggle a bit on her feet until Ed supports her)

Roger: We bought it at auction from the bank, so, you know, we never knew who lived here.

Ed: Well, Lorraine and I both feel that what your house needs is a cleansing. An exorcism.

Roger: What, exorcism? I thought that was something that you do to people.

Lorraine: No, not necessarily, no.

Carolyn: We have to get out of here.

Ed: I'm afraid that's not gonna help. Lorraine saw something, which...Go ahead, hon.

Lorraine: I've been seeing the dark entity that haunts your house and your land.

(The movie flashes back to the previous scene and reveals what Lorraine fully saw behind Ed at the dock- A body being hung from the tree. Class 2A flinch at the sight with gasps coming from Momo, Ashido, Hagakure, Midoriya, and Uraraka with the first two covering their mouths with their hands. )

Lorraine: I saw it first when I came through your door. It was latched to your back.

(A flashback of that scene shows the same perspective from Lorraine, revealing a literal shadow behind the Perron parents)

Lorraine: And then I saw it again with the girls when we walked into the living room.

(A flashback under that perspective reveals The shadow moving behind the Perron daughters. Then movie shifts back to presence)

Lorraine: And it doesn't matter where you go this dark entity has latched itself to your family and it's feeding off you.

(Slight tension rises among most of the students as they watch this with unease, with only Bakugo and Momo having noticed Lorraine’s unease before the flashbacks.)

Carolyn: Even if we leave?

Ed: Sometimes when you get haunted, it's like stepping on gum. You take it with you.

Lorraine: Look, I gotta tell you, you have a lot of spirits in here, but this is the one that I'm most worried about, because it is so hateful.

(Some of the students gulp in fear after hearing that)

Roger: Okay, so what do we do? Can we call a priest?

Ed: I wish it were that easy. Performing an exorcism is an archaic procedure. Requires years of training. And even then, I have seen it go horribly wrong. But before we even get that far, the church has to authorize it first. It means we gotta investigate, gather evidence and provide proof and that's the hard part.

Ed: Have your children been baptized?

Roger: Uh, no, we never got around to that. We're not really a church going family.

Ed: Well, you may want to rethink that. Our presence here could make things worse.

Carolyn: Why?

Ed: Because we're a threat. And whatever you're dealing with here isn't gonna like us. So far it hasn't done anything violent, and that's a good sign. So we're gonna have our guy do some homework on the property to see what we're up against.

(Scene immediately cuts to the Warren house at night, Lorraine putting her daughter to bed)

Lorraine: Judy, what are you up to?

Judy: I got you a present. (reveals locket necklaces under her pillow, making Lorraine affectionately gasp). Me and Nanna got these at the church's yard sale. One for you and one for me. (Lorraine opens her locket to show a picture of judy) She put a picture of you and Daddy in mine. Nanna said this way we'll always be together. You'll be with me and I'll be with you. I miss you and Daddy.

(All the girls aww at the moment while all the guys except Bakugo smile as tension of the room significantly eases down, almost disappearing. The explosive blonde only rolls his eyes with a neutral look instead.)

Notes:

So yeah, with how these scenes played out in the movie, it left no time for anybody to make comments or small talk. Class 2A will have dialogue next chapter though. Until then, leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next!

Chapter 9: Homework

Summary:

Massive lore drop disturbs the hero students as investigative work on the home begins.

Chapter Text

Ed: Hey, hon.

Lorraine: Yup?

Ed: You're not gonna believe this. Carolyn's voice didn't record.

Lorraine: What do you mean?

Ed: Listen. (plays recorder)

Recorder: My name is Ed Warren. It's November 1st, 1971. I'm sitting here with Carolyn Perron who, with her family, has been experiencing supernatural occurrences. Okay, go ahead. (Carolyn’s audio is not heard from recorder). From the first occurrence. (no audio is still heard).

Ed: Nothing. The whole time.

Ed: I don't know. You find anything?

Lorraine: Lots. I mean, it's no wonder they're going through what they are. That's the original farmhouse. It was built in 1863 by a man named Jedson Sherman who was married to a woman named Bathsheba. Ed, she's related to Mary Towne Estye. She was one of the women accused of witchcraft in Salem. She was hung during the trials. After Bathsheba married Jedson, they had a baby and when the baby was 7 days old, Jedson caught her sacrificing it in front of the fireplace. (Faces of either horror or shock were shown across all the faces of Class 2A, some even gasping)
She ran out to that tree by the dock climbed up, proclaimed her love to Satan, cursed anyone who tried to take her land and hung herself. Time of death was pronounced at 3:07 in the morning.

Ed: Well, that explains a few things.

Lorraine: Yeah, so does this. (pulls out picture) Her last name's Walker. She lived there in the '30s. She had a boy named Rory who mysteriously disappeared in the woods. Then she killed herself in the cellar. And that's not all. (pulls out map). So, what was the original 200 acre farm has since been subdivided and sold off. There was another boy who drowned in a pond here. He lived in a house over here. And a woman who worked as a maid in a neighboring home, she committed suicide too.

Ed: People who took her land.

(Suddenly the recorder plays by itself, capturing everybody’s attention)

Ed (from recorder): I'm sitting here with Carolyn Perron who, with her family, has been experiencing supernatural occurrences. Okay, go ahead. (Loud, screeching breathing sound comes from recorder)

Ed: From the first occurrence.

(inhuman sounds and ghostly wails are only heard from the recorder, disturbing most of Class 2A. A few students gulp once the scene transitions a clock giving the time of 3:07am)
Kaminari (scared): Oh crap.

Sato (scared): So that thing from before was...

Sero (disturbed): The ghost of a witch...Yeah...

Mineta (whimpers): Why couldn’t it have been the hot kind?!

Momo: I understand it’s only a film and that we’ve faced all kinds of evil before. But actually hearing about someone specifically killing an infant is so...(puts her hand over her mouth, fighting back the urge to vomit, as Jiro places a hand on her shoulder in comfort)

Tokoyami: No words can describe how truly vile such a deed is.

Midoriya: Yeah...(he thinks about Eri and what Ovehaul did to her. But what Bathsheba did to her own infant and then other kids like Rory made him feel worse. Same could be felt by his classmates that were also involved in Eri’s rescue)

(Room was silent for a few seconds as the movie played uneventfully until...)

Shoji: Well that’s why we’re becoming heroes right? To make sure this won’t happen to any child now.

(These words snap his classmates out of their distressful thoughts, remembering Shoji’s story as a kid and how much of a hero he is now alongside them. This allows bringing a rise of determination into becoming heroes and hope of seeing the kids in this movie get justice, like they gave Eri.)

Hasan (stretches his arm to grab Shoji’s shoulder in agreement and gives a thankful smile): Exactly.

(Now with a sense of peace restored, all eyes go back to the playing movie, which introduces a new character)

Brad: Officer Brad Hamilton, Harrisville, Rhode Island P.D.

Drew: Hm. Nice to meet you, man. So you're the lucky new cop, huh?

Brad: Guess so.

Drew (smirks): You know you can't shoot ghosts, right?

Ed: Take it easy on him, Drew. All right, guys, help me get this stuff unloaded.

(music montage plays of everyone setting up the equipment, Leaving Class 1-A time to chatter)

Jiro: That does bring a good point. What could police do about hauntings?

Tsu: Nothing really Ribbit, but I’m sure they would at least make credible witnesses against anyone who says this wasn’t true.

Jiro (shrugs): I guess that makes sense.

Kaminari: Say those flashbacks with the creepy shadow behind the family, anybody else think it was kinda like an evil version of Dark Shadow?

Mineta: I could see it. (A few others nod or murmur in agreement)

Kaminari (quickly turns to Tokoyami): N-No offense dude!

Dark Shadow (appears and gives thumbs up): None taken!

Tokoyami (nods): You called it “evil” instead of an “exact” version, so you’ve spared us from offense.

Kaminari (Grins with his thumb pointing at himself): Yeah I’m smart like that.

Jiro (humorously scoffs): Debatable.

(Kaminari grits his teeth unable to think of a comeback to Jiro’s usual friendly teasing, as she rolls her eyes in amusement knowing his comment comes from his large heart.)

Ashido: Man this movie has been such a rollercoaster! First it showed that hanging...

Hagakure: That was SO disturbing!

Ashido (nods in agreement before continuing): ...And then we got that wholesome moment with the mom and daughter...

Koda: It was very sweet.

Ashido: ...Until we get hit with that spooky ass reveal about the Witch, and right before this nice montage here!

Shinso: Don’t forget before all that, there was the possessed farmer that took his own life.

Ashido (gives Shinso a dirty look and half sarcastically replies as she gets covered in gloom): Thanks for the reminder.

Hasan (gives a small chuckle at Ashido’s playful overreaction): It doesn’t hold back on the intensity, but still leaves room to breathe. Which is what I’m loving about this movie so far.

Ashido (perks up at hearing that, knowing that she genuinely enjoys how different The Conjuring is from the multiple horror movies she’s seen before and smiles at him): Yeah, me too (shares fist bump with Hasan).

Bakugo: Alright cut the chatter! Movie’s getting back on track!

(everyone goes silent and shifts full attention back to movie)

Roger: What's this, uh, do?

Ed: When there's an instant drop in temperature, the thermostat triggers the camera to take a picture.

Roger: You've actually caught things on film?

Ed: Well, yeah, that's, uh, the point.

Roger: Why, uh..? Why out here?

Ed: Well, this is where the witch committed suicide. She hung herself from that branch right above where you're standing.

(As the disturbed Roger instantly moves away from the spot, quiet snickers are heard among the students)

(film transitions to the wives placing back the pictures)

Carolyn: How could a mother kill her own child?

Lorraine: It was never a child to her. She just used her God given gift as the ultimate offense against him. Witches believe it elevates their status in the eyes of Satan.

Mineta (whispers aloud): Ok, this movie has ruined witches for me.

Ashido (whispers aloud): For once, I actually agree with you.

Kaminari (Whispers aloud): Yep.

(Meanwhile Hasan shares a look with Momo, who now gets an answer for her earlier comment on the atrocity of Bathsheba’s crime. They subtly break eye contact with a mutual disgust towards the idea).

(Lorraine notices a family picture)

Lorraine: Wow. That's a nice day at the beach, huh?

Carolyn: How did you know?

Lorraine: It's an insight. It's like a peek through the curtain into another person's life.

(Hasan shares a look with Ashido on the explanation while Midoriya pulls his notebook out from God knows where and writes down about Lorraine’s powers).

Kirishima (whispers): I thought you only did quirks, Midoriya?

Midoriya (whispers): Well like Hasan said, it’s still an ability that has happened in real life. Like an early, undeveloped version of a quirk. And if the Warrens today have quirks similar to Mrs. Warren’s power, then I'd love to learn more. (shifts attention to Hasan) Hasan, can you send me the research you did on them?

Hasan (whispers): Sure mate, after the movie.

Midoriya (smiles and whispers back): Thanks!

(All attention is on the movie again as we see Drew with eldest daughter Andrea)

Drew: Put your hand flat on the desk. Yeah, and take it off. (Andrea follows the instruction and switches on the UV light, showing her handprint in purple) See?
It just reveals to us what the naked eye can't see. (An impressed Andrea looks at him with a smile). Pretty far out, isn't it?

Andrea: Yeah, it's groovy. (both share a smile as they stare at each other until Ed comes in, causing Andrea to instantly walk away in a hurry)

(Before Ashido could comment on the possible romance moment, the door across from Ed and Drew slowly opens supposedly on its own. Everyone gathers to the door until the sound of toilet flushing is heard and Brad walks out, having used the bathroom).

(Most of Class 1A have a laugh at the misdirection, the rest rolling their eyes either in amusement or annoyance)

Ashido (pouts): Way to ruin a perfect ship moment!

Notes:

Phew, that is an intense backstory for wholesome kids like Class 2A to hear. Sure they already faced the personification of evil in All For One and seen the darkness of Shigaraki, Dabi and Toga's abusive pasts, but yeah murder of little kids would disturb and/or depress anyone. Regardless these heroic spirits will not be be shaken that easy, especially over a (mostly) fictional movie. Anyway as always, leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next!

Chapter 10: Observations

Summary:

The hauntings start to get recorded and it soon takes a gross turn.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

(Ed listens into the live audio of all the rooms but there’s no noise. He then takes out a bag filled with crucifixes and a bottle).

Roger: What's in the bottle?

Ed: Holy water. (Places crucifixes in room) Presence of religious icon will get a reaction from anything unholy. Sort of pisses them off. So I set these throughout the house, see if I can stir things up a bit.

Roger: Like holding a cross to a vampire?

Ed: Yeah. Exactly. Except I don't believe in vampires.

(A few eyebrows were raised among Class 1A about Ed’s comments. Then a bell rings and Ed looks at Officer Brad sitting in front of him)

Brad: Wasn't me.

(They go to the noise source and see the door to the cellar open by itself a picture being taken of the moment)

Ed: Brad, get the camera.

(A slight tension rises with the students as they watch with curiosity and interest on what could happen next. The movie then shows Ed and Lorraine being recorded).

Ed (to Camera): Okay. All right, it's 9:18, we're headed down into the cellar where the door's just opened on its own. I have Lorraine and Officer Brad Hamilton with me. Let's keep the cellar light off. (All three gown down into cellar, movie continuing from the perspective of the recording camera on Ed and Lorraine).

Ed: Give us a sign that you wanna communicate with us. (He moves around to get an audio recording but only hears water running in the pipes and normal mechanical noise from furnace. During the scene, Hasan sees an opportunity for a prank on his classmates, but decides not to ruin the movie for them and doesn’t act. He only hopes the chance will return before the film ends)

Ed: Hon, you alright?

(Camera moves to showing Lorraine looking exhausted)

Lorraine: There's definitely something here.

(Hearing that, Half the students tense up to prepare for a potential jump scare)

Ed (to his surroundings): Alright, close the door. Move something.

Lorraine (murmurs): My hands are so cold.

Ed (continues talking): Come on.

(camera looks around room, but nothing happens)

Lorraine: No.

Ed: It's gone?

Lorraine: It's gone.

Brad: I got nothing.
Ed: Okay.

(They all head up out of cellar without issue, causing the tense students to relax. Suddenly Ed hears something faint and he looks behind him as Brad does the same with the camera recording. Nothing is shown except the piano standing still. Both then leave cellar)

Ed: Well, like I said, it doesn't always work when you want it to. Yeah, maybe the camera picked something up.

(Everyone is outside the cellar door, which suddenly moves quickly on its own, almost hitting Carolyn and causing some of Class 1A to flinch in surprise as the door is loudly slammed shut. The recording camera captured the moment showing Brad’s shocked face. The scene shifts to a normal perspective of him and Drew chatting)

Drew: For a guy who doesn't believe, you looked a little freaked out when that door slammed shut.

Brad: It must have been a draft.

Drew: Oh, that's funny. A draft never put that look on my face before.

Brad (sees clock move past 3:07am): I believe the clock. It's 3:08.

(The movie then transitions to a morning scene of everyone having breakfast with background chatter)

Bakugo (scoffs): All that for a door.

Tokoyami: Spirits beyond our realm usually do not wish to be recorded.

Kirishima: But they were still seen with slamming that door.

Hasan: Well, Lorraine did say that the witch ghost is very hateful. Meaning she must have a temper to sometimes not care about being seen.

Kirishima: I guess....

Hagakure (whispers aloud): Shhh I think they’re starting to quiet down.

(She is correct as the scene’s background chatter becomes slightly more faint as Carolyn speaks to Ed)

Carolyn: The house hasn't felt like this in a long time. I think the kids feel a lot safer with you around.

(Some of the students have a smile hearing that, while others silently notice Lorraine looking worried.)

(The scene shifts to Lorraine picking up dry laundry from the line)

Ed: I could get used to this.

Lorraine (jokingly): What, me doing laundry?

(The Warren couple share a laugh)

Ed: No, this place. Nice, fresh country air.

Lorraine: They have such a beautiful family, don't they?

Ed: Yeah, that little one, April, did you see her bring me pancakes?

Loraine (smiles): Yeah. (her face becomes somber) We've gotta help them.

Ed: I know. I'll start with the Chevy.

(Lorraine laughs at the joke and the two share a quick kiss before Ed leaves with a smile)

Ashido and Hagakure: Awwwwww

(Some of Class 2A either give a small chuckle or roll their eyes in amusement at the girls’ joy towards the admittedly wholesome romance while everyone else ignores them with a neutral look as they watch The Conjuring)

(Suddenly, creepy music starts playing as the movies shows the wind starting to pick up and Lorraine is seen in a slightly gray lighting, which gets more noticeable as she watches the clouds block the clouds. She ignores it and continues doing the laundry).

(As she’s about to grab a white sheet, it’s blown off the clothesline and covers something in front of her. Some of the students flinch as it briefly reveals a humanoid silhouette until the continuous wind blows away, showing nothing there.)

( The wind carries the white sheet until hits the house, covering the window. When the sheet falls, a figure is shown from the window inside.  Some miss this initially, but all of Class 2A notice the figure as Lorraine does, especially once it walks away from the window. This causes some of the students’ eyes go wide in unease. Midoriya notices the figure is in white, realizing that’s the same witch ghost from earlier, Bathsheba. Once it’s gone from the window, Lorraine rushes inside the house)

(All eyes are on the movie as they watch Carolyn taking a nap while four bruise lines quickly appear on her arm, as if fingers are on them. Carolyn suddenly wakes up with a short scream in a bent position but looks likes she’s gasping for air. Part of Bathsheba’s face moves above her, making Class 2A hold their breath in terror. The ghost then vomits blood into Carolyn’s mouth, causing everyone to recoil in disgust with some feeling slightly nauseous.

Hagakure (fighting back the urge to vomit): That’s so gross!

(Many groan in agreement but all their attention is on the film as Lorraine goes into Carolyn’s room in worry for her safety. She hears vomiting in the locked bathroom )

Lorraine: Carolyn, open the door. Carolyn, open up!!

(Lorraine then goes out to bathroom’s other entrance, where Carolyn casually exits from)

Lorraine: Are you okay?

Carolyn: Oh, I'm fine.

Lorraine: Are you sick?

Carolyn: I woke up feeling nauseous, that's all.

Lorraine: I thought I saw..

Carolyn: I hear Roger and the girls. (leaves a concerned Lorraine to greet the everyone and the scene cuts to her husband daughters arriving).

Sero (whispers aloud): Whelp, she’s possessed

Shinso (whispers aloud): Yeah.

Todoroki (whispers aloud): Didn’t they mention possession came in stages earlier?

Momo (whispers aloud): That’s right. First was Infestation...

Uraraka (whispers aloud): Which was like the weird noises and stuff moving?

Momo (nod, whispers aloud): Yes. Then Oppression...

Shoji: Breaking down the one of the victims, their will and putting them in the weakest.

(Momo nods)

Kaminari (whispers aloud): But we didn’t see the ghost do that?

Bakugo (whispers aloud): The bruises, you idiot. She’s been getting them since day 1, getting all tired and shit.

Kaminari (suddenly remembers): Oh yeah.

Midoriya (whispers aloud): Leading to Possession (Looks to Momo, who nods in confirmation).

Hasan (whispers aloud): And now they’re doomed. (All his classmates shoot annoyed or disapproving glares at him. He notices and raises his hands in defense while rolling his eyes). Sorry!

(They ease up on Hasan’s blunt comment and shift their full attention back to the movie as Roger and Ed work on the car)

Ed: Got a nice place here, Roger. Lorraine and I always wanted a spot in the country.

Roger: I'll sell you this one. (Hasan, Ojiro, Sero, Kaminari, Jiro and Sato snicker hearing that). Hey, uh, it really means a lot to us to have you here. I gotta admit, I was a little bit skeptical going in. Just wanna say thank you, though, for coming out when you did.

Ed: I can't take the credit. That's, uh.. That's all Lorraine. I didn't want to.

Roger: Oh. Why's that?

Ed: Whatever Lorraine sees, feels, touches, it helps people. But it also takes a toll on her. Little piece each time. (Midoriya quickly add this to his notes). Couple months ago we were working on a case. She saw something. (Shows flashback of exorcism with Maurice, who grabs Lorraine and she suddenly screams) It took a real big piece. When we got home she went into our room, locked herself in. Didn't talk, didn't eat, didn't come out for eight days.

Roger: What'd she see?

(Another brief Flashback shows more of Lorraine screaming as Ed  yells at the camera to stop recording. Some of the students flinch slightly at how loud her deathly scream was, but the entire class had sympathetic look as they watched the flashback).

Ed: I don't know. And I won't ask.

Kirishima (whispers aloud): Ed is so manly! Helping out with more than just fighting ghosts and always supports Lorraine first. Even owns up to when he can’t take credit.

Ashido (whispers back to him with a shared smile): Yeah. A guy like that is a complete green flag for me! Totes husbands goals!

(Hasan observes the two of them talk about Ed, discreetly smirking at the thought of how good Kirishima and Ashido would be together. But knows they’ll never see it and can only pray for that to change someday.)

Ashido (whispers aloud): Be sure to take notes Mineta!

(While Ashido, Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, Jiro and Hasan laugh at the joke, improving the class’ entire mood. Mineta shrugs it off with an amused laugh, knowing this tip will help him in the future with girls).

Notes:

Ok so towards the end, while not intended as a shipping moment, I did add my own take on KiriMina ;)
I was pretty bummed when the canon all but confirmed that they were only JUST friends by the end of the series. I feel those two are perfect for each other! At least the KamiJiro ship showed a small chance of actually sailing someday, but Kirishima and Ashido getting together no longer seemed possible. But I will respect the canon decision since I could understand why it didn't happen (Kirishima being too dense on the subject and Mina being too obsessed with the idea of romance to not find/notice her own). And hey, that why we got fanfic to change that for ourselves (even found one that actually respects the canon and keeps their characters true).

Anyway as always, leave a comment on your thoughts and hope you enjoy what's next!

Chapter 11: She Made Me

Summary:

Class 2A continues the movie, in which the haunting rises to harmful new level...

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT AT THE END NOTES!

Chapter Text

Chapter 10: She Made Me

Tokoyami: Revelry in the Dark.

(He gets a few annoyed glares from his classmates as the movie shows the house at night and Brad pouring himself a coffee. He then hears the wind chimes outside and looks out the window, but sees nothing. He then moves to another window for a closer look and sees the porch chair slowly rocking back and forth on its own. Then a woman’s voice is heard)

Woman: Look what she made me do.

( The students tense up on hearing the voice and watch Brad goes outside to see if someone is there, but sees nothing. He then hurries back inside and locks the door instantly. As he steps backwards, he is startled at seeing a woman in the laundry room next to him. Dressed as a maid, she holds up her arms which are bleeding from a vertical cut across each wrist.

Maid: Look what she made me do.

(She walks away slowly behind a hanged sheet while a disturbed Brad goes into the laundry to follow her. The faces among the entire Classes 2A are mixed of sympathy and disturbance as they all gradually realize she was the maid Ed mentioned earlier that killed herself. As Brad finds nothing behind the sheet, he starts to leave the room to let Ed know what he saw.)

Brad: Ed...

Maid (suddenly approaching him on his side, loud and visibly distressed): LOOK WHAT SHE MADE ME DO!

(With the exception of Bakugo and Shinso who saw it coming, all of Class 2A flinch at this scene with the disturbed looks. But even the two boys shared the goosebumps all the students felt that moment. A startled Brad trips back onto the floor and calls for Ed, who rushes to him alongside Lorraine and Drew)

Drew: Dude, you okay?

Ed: Hold up, Brad. What's going on?

Brad (getting up to his feet with a panic): I saw someone! There was a woman dressed as a maid. (The camera then suddenly shifts to Cindy walking somewhere and a camera flashes)

Lorraine: Ed? Ed, we're getting something.

(The Warrens then hurry to Cindy walking upstairs with Roger behind her)

Roger: It's just Cindy. She's sleepwalking.

Ed: No, No, No, No, wait, wait, wait. We need this.

Roger: Why do we need pictures of Cindy?

(Cindy continues slowly walking up as another camera flashes)

Ed: She didn't trigger it.

Roger What do you mean she didn't trigger it?

Ed (whispers): Somebody's with her. (Midoriya, Hasan, Shoji, Bakugo and Tokoyami already figured this out while everyone else had their eyebrows raised in surprise. However, the entire class watched with an uneasy worry that Cindy was possessed and about to be harmed).

Roger: Who? (He gets no answer as all of the adults watch Cindy walk into a room and the door slams behind her. Roger and Ed rush upstairs to get her, calling her. As they keep slamming on the door to open it, camera flashes are shown and heard coming from the room. Drew goes to the audio monitor and a whispering voice is heard in the room).

Voice: Hey, over here. It's safe. (Mineta and Kaminari give a tiny flinch at the sudden voice, while the rest of the class are too absorbed with interest in the movie to be effected by it.)

Drew: There's someone else in there with her. (Lorraine goes over to him). I'm hearing another voice. Here, listen. (Lorraine puts on headphones and also hears voice)

Voice: Follow me. This way. This is where I hide.

(As the men are about to slam the door again, it opens on its own. They rush into the room, which was the one with the wardrobe from earlier and Cindy is nowhere to been. They start looking around even in the wardrobe, but cannot find her. A sense of dread and concern fills some students over Cindy’s dissappearence and well being. )

Roger (scared for his daughter): Cindy? Cindy? Where'd she go, Ed?

Ed: Windows are locked.

Roger (worried): Ed, where'd she go?!

Ed (a look of realization grows on his face): Brad, get the UV light.

Brad: The what?

Ed: Just ask Drew.

(Brad rushes down and gets the UV light from Drew before hurrying back to Ed, who asks to turn off the light. Brad does so and Ed uses the light to find footprints, which lead inside the wardrobe. He opens it but finds nothing. Then he notices handprints on the back of the inside.)

Ed: Hit the lights!!

(The lights are switched on and Ed finds a slide door is part of the wardrobe. He opens it and sees a small hole on the wall. He places his head in and finds Cindy in a space behind the wall, looking asleep. Many in Class 2A hold their breath in fear that Cindy has died.)

Ed: Found her.

(The scene transitions to an awake Cindy in her father’s arms with a blanket from Ed covering her and she is taken away from the room as her mom and sisters follow, relaxing the worried students as they exhale in relief. Youngest daughter April hangs back with Lorraine, the former staring in the direction of the wardrobe.)

April: That's where Rory hides when he's afraid.

(Upon hearing that, half of the class react with confusion or nervousness, while the other half individually come to a realization that Rory is an ally instead of a threat. The Conjuring left no time for the students to discuss this as the scene transitions to Lorraine going through the hole into the hiding place. With a flashlight, she sees a shelf filled with small toys, but notices one is missing.)

Lorraine: Hon? Could I have April's music box, please?

Ed (as he grabs the box and sees Roger): How's Cindy?

Roger: She doesn't remember a thing.

Ed (gives music box): There you go.

Lorraine: Thank you. (She places the box on the spot, matching it perfectly. Looking down, Lorraine notices a rope on the floor. She pulls it up until it reveals to be a noose.  Eyes from all of the students widen in shock and/or disturbance seeing the noose they know was used by Bathsheba to hang herself.)

Hasan (mutters in a whisper): Oh shit...

(Shocked, Lorraine stands up and the floor suddenly breaks, causing Lorraine to fall through floorboards screaming until she lands. This startles most of Class 2A in fear for Lorraine with a few students wincing at her landing.)

Ed: LORRAINE! No! (He rushes around the house as the film plays loud horror music that makes Jiro wince a bit, slamming the walls and calling her name to find his wife’s location behind them. Some students, especially Ashido, Hagakure and Kirishima, feel Ed’s worry for his wife and hopes they get to each other quickly).

(Lorraine gets up and observes her surroundings, revealing to be the Cellar. As she looks around with her flashlight, she hears a faint weeping of a woman, alarming most of Class 2A to watch the scene with more attention. Then the music box makes a small sound, revealing to have fallen with Lorraine, who picks it up. She winds it up and looks into the mirror as it plays while having her flashlight face the direction behind her. She moves it around while only staring at the mirror until the crying is heard again but louder. Lorraine still focuses on the reflection of what’s behind her, soon revealing a woman in tears holding a bloody knife with the body of a little boy on her lap).

Woman (weeping): She made me do it. She made me do it. (The sight sends varying levels of shivers to almost the entire class except Bakugo and Tokoyami, whom only watch with wide, but serious glares. Midoriya, Yaoyorozu, Iida, Shinso, Todoroki, Bakugo and Tokoyami are the only ones to recognize them as Rory and his mother.)

(In an over the shoulder shot of Lorraine, the film shows the stop her crying and slowly turns her head around to notice the Mrs. Warren’s presence, making all the students hold their breath in fearful agitation of what the ghost will do. Lorraine breaks her attention on the mirror and looks behind her, but sees nothing. She looks towards her front and as Lorraine sets down the music box, she gets startled at seeing Rory’s mother is up close in front of her face, with mascara lines down the ghost’s own face. All the students release their breaths in shock of the jump scare. )

Rory’s Mother: She made me do it.

(Suddenly she directs her stare somewhere else and lets a chocked whimper at the sound of rope creaking. Lorraine follows her sight with the flashlight but she sees nothing. Then she sees that Rory’s mother is gone. Faint whispers are heard, causing most of the class to either widen their eyes or start shaking a little. Lorraine shines her flashlight towards the direction of the whispers and she slowly starts to move towards them.)

(Suddenly, a dangling body suddenly appears from above, scaring Lorraine back and making Class 2A either slightly jump in their seats or at least flinch. With only the legs being seen, the body swings once before instantly stopping with the creaking of a rope heard. Lorraine and The Students only watch with frightened, quiet stares, knowing this was the witch ghost Bathsheba. Initially facing the opposite direction, the body slowly turns around towards Lorraine’s direction. As soon as it stops, she screams and starts to run towards the cellar stairs and the body follows, eventually Bathsheba’s face is shown partially as she lets out a ghostly roar. The class silently watch Lorraine running to escape with the same shock and fear they feel with her. As she gets close to the stairs, the necklace Lorraine wears is pulled in the opposite direction by an invisible force, briefly chocking her into stopping before it breaks off and she makes her way up the stairs. Initially scared for her at the grab, most of the students let out a sigh or exhale relief that she escaped. )

Lorraine: ED!!!

(Ed opens the cellar door and sees his wife coming up)

Lorraine: Ed, I know what she did.

Ed (brings her up): I got you.

Lorraine (rushing past him in a frantic): I know what she did. I know what she did. She possesses the mother to kill the child. She visits Carolyn every night. That's what the bruise marks are!! (gestures to Carolyn) She's feeding off of her!!

(Suddenly the small crucifixes in the room start shaking before being knocked down individually)

Hasan (in a whisper): Uh-oh...

Christine: (noticing stands of Nancy’s hair is starting to float) Uh...Nancy?

(Just as Nancy notices, she’s instantly lifted above the ground by a large amount of her hair and is smashed into a glass window, to the shock of Class 2A with all the girls covering their own mouths with at least one hand. The guys only wince in worry at the pain she definitely felt and Nancy is then dragged across the room by her hair screaming, to all the students’ horror. It ends once Roger and Ed grab the girl and Lorraine cuts the hair that’s being grabbed with scissors. The class sighs in relief as a crying Nancy is comforted by her father while Ed turns to Drew, who is revealed to be filming with the camera).

Ed: Did you get that?

Drew: Yeah....

Notes:

Phew, this took longer to post than I intended! My original plan was to post this part last week and finish the draft for the final few chapters then. However, life has been disrupting my routine in writing this specific story and now I can't find the time continue it. So I'm letting you all know that Class 2A's Horror Movie Night: The Conjuring will be going on a BRIEF hiatus. I'm not sure how soon I will post the next chapter, but I PROMISE you all that I will finish this story before Halloween this year. I have ZERO INTENTION of abandoning this fic, especially when it's my first one (and Class 2A haven't even reached the scariest parts of the movie)! I've loved how much attention this story has gotten and all the supportive comments have been very encouraging! So Thank You for enjoying this fanfic so far and I'm REALLY Sorry for the inconvenience!
In the meantime, I've been working on a couple MHA fanfics I'm be able to apply myself on (no routine required) and plan to post those very soon. I might even get a start on an AMV I've been thinking of before Season 8 begins. But I hope you all understand and appreciate any patience you can find. As always, leave your thoughts in the comments and I'll see you all soon!
