Chapter Text
A slight mistake from a pond, bleeding into a river, that slid into an ocean. A beautiful blue sea of nice warm water. The water slipped over his chest, over his scars, in between his seaweed bandages. Oh it felt so nice. Dangerously nice. Oh how this silly little koi had squirmed away from the safety of that pond, leaving behind the safety of good fresh slightly cool water, sinking into a sickeningly salty mass that soothed his scales just right. The warmth bleeding into pale soft skin. Oh god how he loved this. Brown fluffy hair swirled as he twisted, dancing in the warmth, melting with a delight that pathetic pond couldn’t offer. The water was so vast and deep. Nothing at all like the small shallow rocky pond Dazai grew up in. He shifted tail swishing, cutting through the water. He had so much space! He twisted, letting out a tiny giggle, bubbles floating from the edges of his lips.
His tail flapped, pushing water side to side as he swam, the sting of salt burning his tongue. This had to be his best method of suicide yet! Listening to those lame walking things had been worth it! Not only did he get to see the big wide world, but he also got to die a beautiful death! Ah, the only thing that would make this better would be a partner to die with! The brunette tilted his head glancing around the empty blue. He was hoping the salt would kill him faster but, his amazing koi dna must be withstanding it. A gentle sigh slipped past his pale pink lips. He really didn’t want to wait. The sea was gorgeous, yes. However, Dazai wanted to die. He did not escape that prison just to live!
“Hmph!” He pouted, arms crossing with a hint of annoyance. There had to be something around here that could end his life in a quick painless way. He curled his body forward, rolling into a small adorable black koi fish ball. He slowly used his tail to push himself, just enough force to spin in a circle without much effort. A coping method and a way to ease his thinking process. A soft gentle yum bubbled out of his throat, shifting into the vast sea. “What to dooooo,” He whined, voice slightly pitched with distress. He was sure he could find a rock to bash his skull in but that’d hurt! He wanted something painless! He groaned letting the current pull him.
His deep crimson eyes narrowed with a scowl. How rude of the sea to pull him while he’s mourning! Dazai opened his mouth, about to curse the sea when something brushed his head. A small fish, covered with pretty silver scales rubbed against his head. Dazai gasped, eyes growing wide uncurling his body, hands carefully lifting close to his hair.
“A fish!! A fish is chewing on my hair!!” The Black Koi giggled, eyes tinning with joy. The silver fish swam around the giggling koi for a few more minutes before swishing away. “Awww Wait!! Come back!” Dazai whined, a pout slipping into his face. He glared daggers at where the fish had vanished to. That mean fish!! Leaving Dazai in the dark, almost black water! Wait…Black water? Wasn’t it blue a second ago? How long had he been floating?? Dazai’s head whipped around as a loud roar of…thunder echoed in his ears. A storm?
He bit his lip carefully, swishing his black and white koi tail, propelling himself up close to the water’s surface. His brown locks went limp against his face as his head broke the surface of the water, harsh cold winds and rain thrashing against his skin. It stung slightly. Crimson eyes blinked up at the hell of the surface.
“Woah! A storm!” Dazai smirked. Maybe he’d get struck by lightning and die! He shifted to his side, swimming a bit, eyes focusing on the stormy sky, filled with dark angry clouds. How hard would it be for him to get hit by lightning? A small grin made its way to his face. It should kill him quickly enough. All he had to do was find something that would attract it! What a shame! His little adventure is about to end! He says that but can’t fight the smile from growing on his face. He hummed a happy tune as he dove back under the water. Dazai’s tail flicked playfully as he zipped through the water, glancing at the surface praying to any god out there that the lightning would strike him soon.
At least, that’s what he thought. But, of course! The great Dazai Osamu’s death could never come that easy!!
Halfway through his little spin of happiness, he went face first into some sort of fabric. A rough, tight fabric. A net. He yelped limbs and tail flailing about as several other unfortunate fishes collided with him. How rude!!! His face scrunched with annoyance as he squirmed, body twisting, an attempt to escape this death trap!
Dazai’s mouth fell open, crimson eyes widening as a loud gasp escaped him. A death trap?! Wait, this was his chance! If he stayed still perhaps this would lead to an early death? His body locked up, face frozen with a stupefied expression. Dying is what he wanted! He has no reason to move! Dazai let out a high pitched laugh.
“This is too easy!! I just have to sit here till I’m dragged up and killed!! A simple suicide!!” His eyes scanned the fish around him. “And it’s basically a double suicide!” The fish around him squirmed, their fins poking at his arm. It was almost silly how they were all pressed together, the next getting tighter, as it was pulled. Up to the surface…where hopefully his death will await! Dazai closed his eyes, delicately curling into a small koi fish ball once more. His last ball before his demise will free him from this cursed thing called living.
