Work Text:

ISB Interview Research Building, Coruscant.

Bix was surprised that doctor Gorst didn’t remember her name.  It took him a moment to even recognise her face after he turned to face her.

Maybe he was too distracted by the blaster pointing at his ugly nose to remember my name,  Bix thought as she gagged him.

“It will only feel like forever,” she whispered icily.  Turning, she located the headset and shoved it onto Gorst’s head.  Satisfied that it was secure, she studied the control panel before her.

Let’s see, she thought, reading the labels.  System power on, headset connected, select audio file, gain to max, volume to max, initiation delay 8 seconds- her attention was caught to the small box of cake sitting on top of the panel.

 Meiloorun sponge cake.

She considered it for a moment, took the box, and stuffed it in her coat’s left pocket.

She turned back to the struggling doctor, who had now (Bix could see) wet himself.

Time to get a taste of your own medicine.

She pressed the button marked ‘play audio’ and left the room.

She only encountered one guard on her way out.  The incompetent di’kut didn’t do so much as blink when she drew her blaster and shot him.  That’s why she put the cake in her left pocket, so it wouldn’t get in the way of her blaster.

Outside the building, Cassian was waiting for her.  Without a word she fell into step beside him.  Cass, also silently, pulled out the remote detonator and triggered it.

Neither bothered to look back at the explosive results of their work.  Instead, Bix pulled the small box out of her pocket and opened it.

“You want some, Cass?” she asked, handing the small plastic fork to him.

Cassian looked at the fork, then down at the cake in Bix’s hand.

“Just a bite, thanks,” he said, taking the fork and digging in.  He’d never tasted anything like it before, but it was delicious.

He handed the fork back to Bix.  “Where did you get it?” he asked.

Bix smiled, “the doctor bought it for me.”

They both chuckled as they left the chaos behind.

Notes:

Last night my brain thought: "what if Bix had taken that box of cake from Dr Gorst's office/interrogation room?"
That thought was still there all morning so I finally decided to write it down.
I know, it's silly.
