Their legs ached and their hearts pounded, but they were both satisfied. It had been a good run. Not the hardest that either could have done but still satisfying.
Norn Ace and Oguri Cap sat side by side on the bench, having just finished yet another lap together around the track. The former had insisted that she helped the latter with her training that afternoon, even though it wasn't necessary. Oguri popped off the cap of her water bottle and began to take a drink. Norn needed to drink too but she couldn't stop glancing over at the other woman sitting so closely beside her. They rarely got a chance to sit side by side and be alone together like this. There was no one around on the track who could possibly interrupt them now. None of Oguri's friends and none of Norn's friends. It was just the two of them.
Norn bit down on her bottom lip. Her brown tail started to flap and wag behind the bench. Perhaps by reacting to her subconscious, her tail started reaching over to wrap itself around Oguri's. It kept brushing against her silver tail yet she elicited no response from the other woman. As long as Oguri didn't notice, Norn wondered if she could keep going. A faint blush crept onto her sweaty, pale cheeks; she couldn't believe she was doing this! It was like she was losing control of her own body. Granted, she would probably do even more intense things than just want to hold tails together, but she normally had better restraint than this.
Oguri's presence, Oguri's heat, even her scent and the sound of her breathing, these things were right there within Norn's presence. She felt like she was going to go crazy. She hated this girl with the dumb white and black hair when they first met but as soon as she was outran by her, Norn found herself falling in love instead. Such a deep and powerful love, almost obsessive, it wasn't just the feelings of a fan. She could feel her tail coming into contact with Oguri's tail. Very slowly her tail started to curl its way around the other woman's. Oguri let out a sigh after drinking some more water. She looked over at Norn and their eyes suddenly met.
Oguri thought that Norn had forgotten her water bottle, so she offered up hers to drink from instead. It didn't occur to her how it might feel for Norn to put her lips upon something that Oguri's own mouth had already touched. Norn didn't need to say much as she accepted the bottle. She hesitated only slightly before taking a sip. It didn't taste like anything but she could imagine what it would be like to actually kiss her. Now her tail tightened around Oguri's and it caused the other woman to suddenly jump in surprise. Norn had to play it off as a mistake but there was no way that it could be mistaken as the real truth.
Norn did not know what to do. She had been infatuated with Oguri Cap for a good while now, ever since that race. She could still remember the moment that her rage and her bewilderment turned into love and admiration. It was hard for her to put it into words, but she was glad to be nearby someone like her. She knew that Oguri was too good for this school and would likely leave for better things like Central someday soon, but as long as they were still here together, then Norn Ace would make sure to treasure every single moment. This was another day almost done, however, and thinking about today's training becoming just another memory to desperately hold onto in her heart was not something she looked forward to.
Norn Ace wanted to touch Oguri somehow but she didn't have a good enough excuse, and also coming up with an excuse to put your hands on someone was major creepy and just plain wrong. She needed to get out of here before she let her heart ache any further and swell with further desire that she'll never be able to fulfill. Norn started to stand up, but Oguri Cap suddenly reached out and grasped Norn's hand.
Oguri Cap stopped Norn from walking away. She wanted to sit together and enjoy the evening sky. They had been running around all day and the sky was turning orange. Norn blushed, her ears folded against her head, and she sat back down. Oguri kept her hand clasped over Norn's.
To Oguri Cap, it might have just seemed like a nice moment to spend with a good friend. To Norn Ace, it was a moment that meant everything.
