Work Text:
Kai walked in the kitchen searching for Nya, who was sitting and chatting with Sora. After the first mission of the Nya and Sora duo they became close pretty quickly. The two had too many alike interests and mentality not to. So there they were, Sora was sitting in front of Nya on their kitchen island and explaining some TikTok brainrot to her. The Girls were both wearing their pajama pants, only Sora was in a Billie Eilish merch T-shirt, which Nya adored, and with her kitty headphones hanging around her neck, like always, Smith herself was in a burgundy halter tank top with a star on it.
"Hey Nya, can I interrupt y’all for a sec? Kai asked in a rush. Nya glanced at Sora in response.
"Whatever" Sora answered and shrugged, while putting her headphones on her head, covering only one of her ears.
"Thank you, Sora" Kai said looking at her with his worried eyes and immediately continued. "Sorry Sora, gotta vain a little to Nya." He turned his head towards the water ninja. "It's just that he's giving me all these mixed signals and I feel so devastated, becuase I'm a grown ass man, who had so many dates and I can't even make sense of them. And even if I'm right, and he is hitting on me, what should I do with this knowledge?! I dunno Nya, maybe I'm just being delusional..."
"You mean you're delulu?" Nya giggled at seeing her brothers jaw drop. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Sora just tought me all these cool new words you know. So what signals do you receive?"
"It doesn't matter that much to be honest, it's just that I feel like a..." Kai looked at Sora for a sec "A flipping teenager! Like what? At leats I don't have to relive all of those pimples again" His voice made its way from anger to frustration to just sadness. The man flopped down on the kitchen island, hugging his face with his arms. Nya hopelessly looked at this drama queen and started caressing the back of his head "Oh Nya, I don't know what else in the world can help me understand any of this" Kai groaned.
"I could give you a tarot reading, if you want" Sora spoke up and both Smith siblings turned their heads towards her in shock.
"Well, that's actually a good idea." Kai slowly broke the silence. Sora smiled at him in respond, as she stood up.
'Wait a minute for me, gotta go find my deck." Tech ninja said and forwarded to her room.
"Did you know she knew how to use tarot?" Kai said with a hint of shock and curiosity in his voice.
"No, actually, I did not know that."

“Sora, when did you learn Tarot and why did no one knew that?” Nya asked after self claimed fortune-teller returned with her cards in her golden hand. The group all sat down at the kitchen island again, but this time they swaped places, Kai sat infront of Sora, and Nya took a seat near them, observing.
“Oh I learned it from a friend in Crossroads! Also Arin knew all the time, I used to train doing reading with him at the time, all the time, and none of you ninjas ever asked me.” She smiled and smirked at the ninja’s reaction.
"So, how exactly does tarot work? What do I have to do?" Kai asked Sora, after she took the deck out of the dark purple paper box.
"I mean, you just have to ask me a question, the answer for which is open, and then watch me divine for you. Also you cannot touch my cards without my permission." Sora answered, and it felt like she has repeated those words so many times before this. Kai inhaled some air ready to speak, as sora quickly cut him off. "And you have to use names! I'm sorry but for this to work I have to Imagine who the question is about, while shuffling the deck."
"Sure, sure. So, What does..." Kai said, as he made a quick pause. "Jay feel about me?" He dragged out these words, not understandig himself was it, because of beeing ashamed, or rather of not beeing sure how to ask the question correctly. Sora just started to shuffle the cards without a word coming out of her mouth.
Then cat lover ninja starts dragging out cards out of her cat tarot deck and immediately smiles after seeing the first one to come. “The Lovers VI”. Black and white cats are forming circle together on that card, they’re standing in between what looks like hell and heaven and there is another cat with mix of black and white fur looking over them. Sora’s expressions change with each card she drags.
The next card lies on the right side of the first one. “The Stars XVII”. On that card a cat stretches beside the beautiful lake under the big shining star. Third card also on the right side of the previous one. “The moon XVIII”. Cat and a dog there howling at the moon, sitting somewhere in the ruins.
Next Sora places the fourth card under the first one, slightly covering “The Lovers VI”’s bottom. “The Sun XIX”. A cat lounging under the cat-sun on a chair in the sunflower field. The fifth one again lies one the right. “Knight of Chalices” - A cat standing on a turtle, who’s coming out of the river. Sixth card also ends up on the right side. “Ace of Chalices” - A cat wrapped around a big chalice, which serves as a fountain in a lake full of water lilies.
Next line of tarot cards goes similarly to the last one. So the seventh card is covering a bit of the fourth one. “6 of Pentacles” - cats trading with some cat toys, while sitting under the pergola. Eighth card - “2 of Chalices” - two cats looking each other in the eyes and resting their paws on the two chalices under the night sky. Ninth card - “10 of Chalices” - Two cats hugging as their two kittens playing with the ball, a big rainbow stand with 10 chalices on it is behind them.
The tenth card goes on the left of all of the previous reading. “Queen of Chalices” - A white cat comfortably wrapped around a gold and silver chalice with a fancy cover. Eleventh final card lies oppositely to the tenth one on the right side of all pretty cat cards. “Knave of Chalices” - cat in a grass field, glancing at the water with a fish in his chalice beside him.
Sora looked up at Kai with an exited smile on her face. Kai on the other hand looked nervous about what the cards will say. Who knew he would care what they think?
“So first of all this is a fateful divination” The pink haired girl started, while the fire ninja got more scared. “You see, the first four cards have latin numbers on them, that means that they are a Major Arcana, which if you get the first three and more cards in your reading to appear them, it means the reading is a lot more likely to be truthful - fateful” Sora continued. While hothead was tense, Nya was so intrigued about the whole thing, that she started slightly biting her nails.
“Have you guys never had a tarot reading?” Sora cocked her eyebrow and asked them, after examining siblings’s reaction. The two turned towards each other, then looked back at Sora and nodded in response. The girl holding the rest of a deck just rolled her eyes and continued.
“The cards are saying that, well, you can clearly see the first card in line is quite literally called “The Lovers”, so you can guess the meaning of it. But if we’re being serious, then I’d say He is madly in love with you and it is mutual” She pointed with her finger at the “2 of Chalices” card. “Jay’s tryna flirt with you and be romantic, because it’s a new feeling for him, but even tho it is clearly a shared feeling he does doubts that. he is very careful and untrusting about it, but still has a lot of hope of you being together! Jay sees a serious relationship in you, maybe even a family like one. And to top all that you light up his life, Kai, he feels happy around you! You make him happy!” Sora made a pause looking at Kai’s reaction for a moment. “So I’d say, judging by all this” she made a circle in the air pointing at the fortune telling. “You should go ask him out.”
“Well, that is a lot to process, but it definitely was fun, even more for Nya!” Kay said and gave a little laugh to his own joke, as well, as the others did. He seemed really happy and motivated, as well, as deep in his thoughts, rethinking all he was worried about. “K, girlies gotta go tell Wildfire about all this, see ya!” Kai blows a kiss and waves at the girls with twining ponytails before leaving the kitchen area.
“Sooo” Nya drew out the word teasingly and kinda exited, as she sat on the chair her brother seated a second ago, as her grin grew wider. “I’m next!”.
