Don’t Look Down, You’ll Fall and Break Your Back

Summary:

Top Thrill Dragster and King Da Ka absolutely despise each other for trying to get the upper ground on one another—literally. Steel Vengeance is here to get in the way of that and (hopefully) get them to get along.

Work Text:

Steel Vengeance glances between the two, watching calmly as they munch on some off-brand chips. Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster have been arguing all day, and Steel Vengeance is just plain tired of it.

Top Thrill is pouting and glaring away from the other two, their arms crossed and leg resting elevated on a footstool that Steel Vengeance can’t remember anyone ever bringing home.

“I thought you liked this movie,” Steel Vengeance tries. “You’re not even watching.”

Top Thrill huffs, moving to now glare at Steel Vengeance instead of the wall.

“I do like the movie,” they respond, arms still crossed. “I just don’t like Ka.”

Steel Vengeance just rolls their eyes in response, offering them the bag of off-brand chips. They take it.

Kingda Ka hasn’t even responded to Top Thrill’s pouting, just watching the TV with boredom very evident in their eyes. They mindlessly tap their thumb against their cane, which is resting against the side of the couch.

Ka is pouting too, just in a different way than Top Thrill. Steel Vengeance can tell—it’s obvious in the way that their eyes drag along the screen of the television.

Steel Vengeance sighs loudly, pausing the movie and standing up. They turn to glare at Kingda Ka and Top Thrill.

“Can you two, like. Stop it,” they retort, crossing their arms in irritation. “You’re both pouty and should just make up already. What even happened?

Top Thrill looks up at them, before huffing and further curling up in annoyance. Looks like they’re not getting any response out of them.

Kingda Ka also looks up from the TV, but still looks significantly bored. “They’re mad again because I made fun of them for being shorter and slower than me.”

“I have a knee brace!” Top Thrill protests.

“Yeah?” Ka mocks. “Well, I have a cane. And I’m still faster. So.”

“..Shut up.”

Steel Vengeance is getting progressively more ticked off. “Okay, knock it off. You two have been fighting literally since you got up.”

Kingda Ka makes a grumbled comment about Top Thrill’s speed again, who shoots them a withering look as soon as they hear it.

“I’m serious!” Steel Vengeance exclaims. “Ka, apologize.”

Kingda Ka looks away, silently refusing to look back at Top Thrill. How mature.

“Wow. Okay, you’re just being unreasonable now. You can’t even apologize? ” Steel Vengeance rolls their eyes. “C’mon, Ka.”

With much hesitation, Kingda Ka—very begrudgingly—grumbles out an “I’m sorry.”

“Good,” Steel Vengeance sighs. “Top Thrill?”

“..Okay, fine,” Top Thrill huffs. “I accept your apology.”

“Thank god,” Steel Vengeance mumbles under their breath. Then, slightly louder, “Can we continue the movie now?”

The other two mumble their agreement, and Steel Vengeance sits back down, starting the movie back up.

As they continue watching the movie, Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster finally seem to have calmed down, no longer pouting and more tolerant of each other’s company, much to Steel Vengeance’s relief. As much as Steel Vengeance loves the other two, they really get on their nerves most times.

The woes of being an auspistice.
