Chapter Text

Sensei.
Do you have a moment?

And just like that, another afternoon of nothing ever happening ends.

Sensei digs himself out of the paperwork mountain and sits back up from his ergonomic throne.

He spares another look at the username of the message that popped up on the screen

"...Shun?"

And right away, the lost revelry in him comes back.

He doesn't receive Momotalk messages from her often, but when he does, she mostly means business.

(Aside from the few times when she came calling as a kid to slack off and vent with Sensei.)

Her business, that is. Business that involves a bunch of small children.

A bunch of small children who treat military-grade arsenals as toys, and his arms and legs as monkey bars.

Still, he types with semi-hesitant fingers.

Ofc
shoot

It's about Kokona-chan.
Can you come to Shanhaijing now?

That doesn't sound good. He glances at his gear rack with a duffle bag nearby.

Action time? He'd never say no, wherever or whenever. It's his job after all. Sorta.

But then again, if anything bad happens to the children in Plum Blossom Garden, Genryumon will be the first to catch wind.

Unless the situation has spiraled so far out of control in a short period of time.

Has it gone that bad? Nah. If so, it would've been Kisaki who came texting. Calling even.

Auburn the Sensei pries himself out of his office chair with an exhale.

Bones in his body creak against his action, and the guilty pleasure of making the noise soothes him.

Gotta start packing; a bag with simple, one-day/24-hour baggage should be enough.

As for weapons and gear, he'll just grab the ones in his car. Better to have it when you need it.

But before that. And better to be safe than sorry.

Emergency?

snhrshunnnnn_ is typing...

Hope it won't be a whole ass paragraph.

Sensei rests his phone back on the table before he leaves to pack up.

The whole process doesn't take long; he already has a dedicated setup for traveling to distant academies.

In around five minutes, Sensei zips up the neatly-packed duffle bag, grabs the usual outer belt.

Coming back to the table, he first relocates his Archon Type B pistol from a hidden holster under the table to the one on the belt.

Next, he checks his phone.

Kokona-chan has been missing since this morning.
Please come to Plum Blossom Garden as fast as possible.

"!..." The fuck?

His entire body sobers up, silver eyes widen as he takes a sharp inhale.

It takes another two seconds for him to register those horribly heavy lines.

He shoves his phone into his pants with rigid fingers. "......" Then, he takes an exhale of forced calm and determination.

Search and rescue has always been his specialty; Type Blue or not, he can handle this. I can handle this.

He must not panic or waver; whatever feeling is coursing through him right now, Shun must feel the same, if not more so.

Standard presedures. Auburn creaks his neck. Go time.

The first thing he does is scramble to the gear rack and shove whatever's on it into the nearby duffle bag.

It's been only 6-8 hours max, and the Shanhaijing central area is vast; Kokona should still be in the region unless she takes transportation.

Which means, even if there's a gunfight somehow, he will be in a permissive environment. So, whatever is on the rack is enough.

Then, with a bag on each shoulder, he reaches for the tablet and bolts towards deep inside Schale's office.

There's an emergency elevator with a standalone power system, anti-EMP and hacking countermeasures, and incredible operating speed.

He built it out of his own money for time-sensitive situations, such as a breach in the parameter, or rescuing a potentially abducted kid.

Hitting the R button, Auburn then fishes out his phone to reply to probably worried-sick Shun.

Will be there in 15m
Hold tight

Next, he goes on to post a pre-written announcement on Schale's official website.

It basically says hey the big man you may be looking for is out and won't return until further notice so later haha-

Shouldn't let Arona have a hand in writing this. An airy snort escapes his lips as he browses through the words.

Another Momotalk message pops up right before he's about to mount the phone onto the plate carrier.

Sensei.
snhrshunnnnn_ is typing...

No time to wait for that. He does a quick gear check in his mind.

Physical condition, check.

Business trip stuff, check.

PPEs. Eye pros, ear pros, and gloves, check.

Standard load PC with 7 mags of EPRs, check.

Primary weapon, check.

Standard load outer belt, check.

Sidearm in the holster, check.

Hydration and IFAKs on gear, check.

Phone on the PC and tablet in the back panel, check.

Items for thaumatic workings, check.

Outfit... Fuck it. Good enough.

His student's safety is at stake.

Anyone or anything standing between him and Kokona, he will brute-force straight through.

Motherfuckers dare lay on finger on that kid... The rising fire in his heart fuels him, boiling his blood.

Sensei does a brief warmup by twisting his joints, top to bottom.

The rotor of the H160 helicopter on the roof helipad is getting gradually louder and louder as he ascends in the elevator.

Plana, being a thoughtful little secretary that she is, had it undergoing preparation the moment he received the call for help.

Ignoring the deafening chops and the blasting wind, the adult makes a beeline for the heli the moment the elevator door opens.

Dials and needles are coming to life, and bulbs are glowing in light blue; Arona's handiwork as the pilot.

Sensei situates himself and his cargo with harness and straps with fluent moves.

Slamming the cabin door shut, he yells into the vacant pilot seat.

"LET'S GO!"
