Lament For Gandalf

Summary:

My brother and I were talking about a tumblr meme I sent him, with a silly poem about Gil-Galad.

He amused himself with the mental image of the elves of Lothlorien singing their lament for Gandalf in the same style as that poem. He then proceeded to give me the first line of this hypothetical poem. I kept going…and wound up with this. :P

Enjoy

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Gandalf was a real grand pal

Until he met a rauko-val

Down from the bridge in tumbling fall

The valarauko gave his all

Olorin’s spirit sent to fly

In Namo’s hall it now does lie

We sing with heart up to the sky

Brought low with sadness we do cry

Notes:

"I have not the heart to tell you. for me the grief is still too near."

Keep in mind that the elves don’t know that Gandalf is coming back, hence why there’s no verses about the Balrog’s death or Gandalf’s return :P
