Work Text:
It was raining heavily outside as Kazuha and Kunikuzushi were laying on the sofa, cuddling while watching a movie. The weather had been bitter for a while already, and Kunikuzushi had grown tired of it being that way. He had wanted to take Kazuha on multiple dates and such in the park and in cafés, but the weather had taken a sudden turn for the worse, and in turn completely wrecked their plans. So now, instead of being on all of the dates they had planned, they were both stuck inside.
Just as the movie ended, Kazuha suddenly suggested that they could build a pillow fort and sleep in it together for the night. Kunikuzushi considered the suggestion for a moment, and then agreed. They then stood up and started collecting all the pillows, blankets and other cozy things that they could find.
After a while of searching for pillows here and there, Kazuha and Kunikuzushi had finally gathered enough to actually start the building process. Kazuha had also managed to source some fairy lights that they decided could be used for decoration once the fort was finished.
They started the building process by gathering a couple chairs from the kitchen to act as a base for the fort. Then Kunikuzushi went to their bedroom to fetch the mattress from their bed to act as a cozy and comfortable ground to lay on. After that they then started piling the pillows into heaps on the inside and blankets on top to form a roof for the fort. As a last touch, Kazuha picked up the fairy lights from the floor and started twirling them around the fort, while Kunikuzushi took the end of the cord and plugged it to the wall.
Now that the fort was finally finished, they both crawled into it and laid down to admire their work. After a while though, Kunikuzushi started growing restless.
“Kuni? Is everything okay?”
“I’m fine Kazu, don’t worry too much about me.”
“Alright, if you say so…”
After a moment Kunikuzushi suddenly felt a pair of arms wrap around him. Before he could properly react, the arms had already taken a firm grip around his torso.
“What the hell are you doing Kazu?!”
“Nothing particular. Just giving you a hug because I felt like you needed it, and you were literally trembling just a moment ago.”
After realizing that he actually kinda needed it, Kunikuzushi felt himself slowly melting into Kazuha’s embrace. It felt so comfortable to just lay there while being embraced by your lover. A moment later Kazuha suddenly put his nose up to Kunikuzushi’s neck and inhales his scent. Upon that gesture Kunikuzushi first got startled, but after a moment he relaxed again.
They laid there and embraced the silence while watching the lights in the ceiling of their fort. Eventually Kazuha noticed that Kunikuzushi had fallen asleep, as his breath was slow and steady. Kazuha slowly and carefully loosened their embrace and went to one of the corners at their fort where Kunikuzushi had previously left a stack of quilts, blankets and a duvet. He picked up the duvet and carefully laid it on top of Kunikuzushi’s sleeping form. Then he also picked up a few blankets and wrapped himself up in them. He laid back down beside Kunikuzushi, and before long, he too had fallen asleep.
The next morning Kazuha awoke to the birds chirping outside and the sun shining brightly into his face. He looked beside him, and noticed that Kunikuzushi was still sound asleep beside him. Kazuha decided to carefully get out of their fort so that he could prepare a surprise breakfast for Kunikuzushi when he woke up. Once Kazuha was out of bed (their fort) he headed for the kitchen. He opened different cabinets to check which ingredients he was able to use. He picked out some eggs, milk and spices to make an omelette, and some bacon that he intended to fry and then put on top of toast.
A few moments later Kazuha was done with his creation. He first went to put the breakfast on the table, and after that he went to wake up Kunikuzushi.
“Morning Kuni~ Have you slept well?”
Kunikuzushi, who was still groggy after having just been woken up, was still half asleep, and nearly struggled to form a reply.
“I slept decently, what about you Kazu?”
“Personally I had a great sleep, all thanks to you~”
Upon hearing that, Kunikuzushi’s cheeks slightly flushed, and he playfully hit Kazuha’s shoulder.
“Anyway, I came to wake you up because I’ve made breakfast.”
“Thank you Kazu, I’ll be up in a moment.”
With that, Kazuha then helped Kunikuzushi up and they both went to eat breakfast.
“Gosh Kazu, you’ve really outdone yourself! This is the best breakfast that I’ve had in a while.”
“Kuni you silly goose.. You usually don't have any breakfast, so obviously it has to be the best that you’ve had in a while, as it is the only breakfast that you’ve had in a while.”
Their morning went by like that, talking and laughing with each other, and before long, it was already noon. Right then, Kazuha looked through the window and saw that the weather had cleared overnight. He quickly hurried to tell Kunikuzushi, who initially didn't believe it, but after also looking through the window, wore a surprised expression.
They decided that since the weather had finally cleared, it would be a perfect opportunity to go outside and enjoy the sun that had finally decided to show it's face. Both Kazuha and Kunikuzushi hurried to the door to quickly put on their shoes, and after that they both then walked out of the door.
