Chapter Text
The April wind blew gently over the rooftops of Tomoeda. It was one of those mild days when winter no longer lingers and spring begins to scent the air. Touya was lying on the school roof, in that corner only a few knew how to reach. Eyes half-closed, hands behind his head. He had found a few minutes of peace.
“I knew I’d find you here,” said a soft voice, almost like a whisper among cherry blossoms.
Touya opened one eye and, unsurprised, found Yukito smiling beside him. He had that expression that always disarmed him a little: kind, as if nothing bad could ever happen in his presence.
“You’re very predictable, Touya,” he added, letting his backpack drop with a soft thump before sitting down next to him.
“And you’re very stubborn,” Touya replied, slowly sitting up to get a good look at him. His shadow was cast against the sunlight, but his eyes still sparkled.
For a moment, they remained in silence, sharing the same sky. The rustling of leaves and the birdsong gave them a strange kind of privacy.
“You know? I’ve always liked this time of year,” Yukito said suddenly. “Spring has something about it… like everything could begin again.”
“Or like everything worth holding onto stays,” murmured Touya, not looking at him, but feeling his heart beat a little faster.
Yukito glanced at him sideways, as if trying to read something in his face. Then, with a soft smile, he leaned slightly toward him.
“Then… would you stay with me too?”
Touya didn’t answer right away. He just looked at him, more serious than usual, as if the question meant more than it seemed. Then he nodded, almost imperceptibly, and rested his forehead against Yukito’s.
“Always.”
And on that hidden rooftop, among cherry blossoms and clear skies, the promise needed no more words.
