Simon shrugged on his grey jacket. He felt the lingering touch of their kiss. They held hands, only letting go as they pushed through the doors of Forest Ridge. Unexpectedly, Wille’s mother stood at the bottom of the steps. Wille vanished, replaced by Crown Prince Wilhelm.
Simon faltered, “Good day…”
“Nice to meet you,” she replied, lips pursed as she shook his hand.
“Ers Majestät,” Simon bowed awkwardly. He cleared his throat. “See you,” he said to Wilhelm.
Wilhelm frowned, uncomfortable, eyes darting between the two. Simon felt like something shifted. “Bye.”
Simon crunched down the driveway, not looking back.
