I, Gavrilo Princip (19m), was a member of a Bosnian group called the Black Hand. My group was justifiably angry over the annex of Bosnia by Austria-Hungary and we wanted our rightful independence.
My group conspired for months on how to get back at the Austrian-Hungarian government until we finally decided to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand (50m) and when we saw press coverage of his tour we knew it was our chance.
Our original plan was to throw a bomb under his car but we missed and exploded a car near the Archduke’s. As the police were called and the Archduke’s car sped off, i knew our chance was ruined, so I ran away from the scene and found myself on the curb in front of a coffee shop.
Feeling distraught over our chance of revenge being ruined, by a chance of fate, the Archduke’s car drove right up next to me, despite that road not being on its planned route. Finally seizing my chance, I stood up and shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie (46f). This event was the powder keg to World War 1 and the following world war.
I just wanted to fight for Bosnian rights and get the land back for my people. So AITA for inadvertently starting the second biggest global conflict in history that resulted in 40 million human casualties?
