Work Text:
What a day! What a week! It's been the week from hell if anything could go wrong it did. Agatha's car stopped working on Monday. Just smoke pouring from the engine in the middle of the highway on the way too work so she had to get public transport until she could organise a hire car. Which took her longer than expected.
Wednesday her client didn't turn up to court, which was the second time so his case was thrown out. Agatha had to listen to Jennifer Kale gloat around the office about how she "won" the case. Now she has to apologize to the Judge because she had begged for a second chance for his trial. Agatha actually believed he was innocent but turns out her instinct was off and he was really just a jerk.
Thursday her favorite pair of heals broke and she spilt coffee down her new suit .
When the alarm went off on Friday Agatha was ready to roll over and hide under her blankets but she had to get the house tidied because her Mother was in town and coming for dinner. Eva wasn't a terrible mother she just had very religious views and didn't agree with Agathas life choices, even though it had been years since Agatha had been in a relationship her Mother still carried on about the time she caught her with April in her bedroom when she was a teenager.
Dinner was a disaster. Agatha got distracted reading up about her case for the next week and forgot about the lasagne in the oven, by the time she smelt the smoke it was too late and Eva was walking in the front door.
After a debate with Eva they decided on Tacos. Which were delivered by a teenager who had sprayed way too much Lynx and seemed horribly uninterested in his job.
The actual meal wasn't too bad but Agatha could barely get a word in with her Mother's latest updates from "the coven" her church ladies. Turns out Eva had accepted a date on behalf of Agatha with one of their sons for Friday the following week. Agatha wasn't surprised it was becoming a monthly thing. So she went just to humor them.
After Eva had gone Agatha pulled out a Corona from the fridge and as she was sitting down on the deck to finally relax. The neighbour's (across the road) garage opened up and the sounds of the neighborhood garage band started up.
Tommy, Billy and Nicky had started the band a few months before and had convinced Rio, Nickys Mother, to let them "practice" in the garage. Now the word practice was used generously because so far all Agatha could decifer from the racket was maybe a few notes which could of been the beginning to "the greatest showman" otherwise it just sounded like a huge amount of unnecessary banging and guitar wailing.
The boys only ever practiced when Rio was on nightshift and not at home. So Agatha knew it was going to be a long couple of hours until they stopped. Agatha and Rio didn't get along and only ever exchanged maybe a wave as each other passed in the street but would try and avoid each other. Rio was the lead detective in a case Agatha had when she first moved into town 10years ago and they ended up becoming fast friends and dating for a while until Agathas insecurities got the best of her and after a huge fight the two haven't spent time in the same space since.
The last thing Agatha wanted to do was talk to Rio. But she was desperate for just an hour of quiet so she could destress. She sent her a msg asking her to tell the boys to stop. Just for the night .
30 minutes later Agatha heard the roar of Rios Mustang coming down the street. Instead of turning into Rios driveway she turned into Agathas.
Loud angry knocking started on the front door. Bracing herself Agatha took a deep breath and opened the door with a forced smile.
"What is wrong with you! I don't hear from you for months. MONTHS Agatha and the first thing you say to me is asking the boys to shut up!?? They need to practice for the upcoming school rock quest. They don't do it every night just on a weekend. What is wrong with them playing for a couple hours? Huh?" Rio started straightaway not even bothering with a hello.
Now Agatha knew she was right but to her horror instead of being able to answer she just burst into tears. Having Rio infront of her, yelling at her was the straw that broke the camels back and it all became so overwhelming for Agatha.
"Shit! Shit are you ok... no your not you're crying ... what do i do?? Shit shit shit!" Rio starting panicking in the months that they dated Rio had never seen her cry so the tears shocked her.
Guiding Agatha inside to the sofa Rio softly pushed her down into a sitting position and ran to the kitchen with for a cup of water.
"Ags? Look at me.. " using her hands she gently lifted Agthas chin up. "Tell me what you need" Rio said
"I just need quiet it's been a week Rio" wringing her hands in her lap Agatha looked back down at her lap.
"Okay" as Rio got up to go tell the boys to can it for the night she felt a hand grab her wrist. If she wasn't listening she would of missed the quiet "don't leave me" from Agatha
Sitting back down she suddenly had an armful of a tearful brunette. Pulling her phone out of her pocket Rio sent a quick text to Nicky and then her boss also stating a family emergency and that she wouldn't be back in.
Taking a big breath and pushing her face into Rios neck Agatha finally felt her body relax. She knew Rio was confused and that they had to talk but that could wait.... Cuddles were a much nicer way to end the week. Better than beer anyways.
And that's how Nicky found them an hour later, fast asleep on the sofa. Both with soft smiles on their faces.
