But this love we got is the best of all

Summary:

The tree had been Mick's favorite thing to decorate, wrapping the green with tinsel and ornaments. Goldust had turned on some radio station while they had decorated, and just the memory of getting to kiss her while his favorite song had played in the background made his chest warm and his cheeks flush.

Notes:

Thank you to the Guest "C" who requested this!! This is literally canon now, I actually am the WWE /j
Plus Mankind does actually call Goldust mommy so.......pretty source accurate I'll say so myself
Goldust uses He/She pronouns in this, and I did try to show it in a way that's hopefully not difficult to understand!

Any typos/mistakes you find can be kept and superkicked.

Mick was going to vibrate out of his skin because of how excited he is at this point. It was his favorite time of the year, and he's never been happier. He's sitting on the edge of the couch, staring out the window at the driveway, waiting for the familiar sight of Goldust's car to pull up, running his hands over his legs as he waits. It's snowing lightly, the ground covered in a thin layer of the white powder, and he has a blanket wrapped around himself to keep himself warm. It's Goldust’s blanket, and it smells like the other man. It's also definitely getting him covered in yellow glitter, but he doesn't care.

Goldust had left the house a little over an hour ago, claiming to need to do some last minute shopping once dinner was done. He has no idea what she could have gone out for, the house is completely decorated from top to bottom, and there's a pile of presents under the just as decorated tree. At first, Goldust hadn't necessarily wanted to decorate this much, but at once look at Mick's wobbly lip and watery eyes, she very quickly gave in, helping him string up lights everywhere in the house and organizing the snow globes on the shelves. They had even made sugar cookies, decorating them earlier in the day. They're currently all laying out on the counter and Mick is trying very hard to be good by not eating one. Or two.

Mick is brought out of his debate about whether or not just having a cookie would be worth it by the sight, and sound, of Goldust's car turning onto their street. He shoots up in excitement, blanket dropping from his shoulders to pool at his feet, and rushes to the front door. He's not supposed to leave the house when he's alone, so instead he unlocks the door, bouncing on the balls of his feet while waiting. Goldust is holding a grocery bag in one hand, and a large brown bag in the other, shutting the door with his foot and walking up the porch. Mick flings the door open in excitement, still standing in the house, and claps his hands together in excitement.

“Hi baby!” Her voice is high, a smile wide on her golden face. She moves the bags to one hand, and uses her now free arm to wrap around Mick, pulling him close.

“Missed you mommy.”

“I know baby, but I'm back now.”

Mich shuffled backwards, closing the door behind them, and hums. He lays his masked face into the crook of Goldust's neck, smiling happily. Mick pulls back to let Goldust put down the bags, and he shuffles back over to the couch to grab the blanket, wrapping it around himself again. He walks over to the kitchen, leaning on the doorframe as he watches Goldust pull the groceries out of the bag. Groceries is a generous word though, because it's just a small carton of milk and a bag of baby carrots. The large brown bag is sitting on the floor, untouched.

Mick points at the groceries, clutching his blanket with his other hand. “Whas that?”

“Hm?” Goldust hums, turning to look at him. “Oh! Well, the milk is for Santa and the carrots are for the reindeer.”

“Huh? Santa?”

“Well yeah, so he has a gift when he comes by tonight?”

“Thought he only comes for good kids?”

Goldust's face falls, and he walks forward to Mick, pulling him into a hug, resting his chin on Mick's head. He brings a hand up to scratch at where the mask is resting against Mick's scalp. “Of course he does baby, and that includes you.”

“But-”

“No buts.” She pulls her head back, looking intently into his eyes, and leans forward to peck him gently. “You are good ok? Mommy knows best, right?”

Mick's lip quivers and he nods, playing his face back against Goldust's neck. They stand there for a few minutes, just holding each other, before she pats him on the back and hums low in her throat. “Why don't you go get comfortable on the couch while I put this away, ok?”

“Mkay mommy.” Mick nods, wrapping the blanket tighter around himself as he leaves the kitchen. He sits down on the couch, counting the ornaments on the tree as he waits for her to be done. The tree had been Mick's favorite thing to decorate, wrapping the green with tinsel and ornaments. Goldust had turned on some radio station while they had decorated, and just the memory of getting to kiss her while his favorite song had played in the background made his chest warm and his cheeks flush.

He looks up at the crinkle of a bag, and sees Goldust walking towards him with the brown bag in his arms. He sets it down in front of Mick, then sits down on the couch next to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. “You should look inside that.”

Mick makes a noise of confusion, looking over at the other man with his eyebrows furrowed.

“Mommy got you a Christmas Eve present. Don't you wanna open it?”

Mick's hands clench at his sides a few times, and he nervously touches the bag, still unsure if he should actually open it, but he doesn't want to disappoint her, so he leans forward to grab what's in the bag. His hands make contact with soft fabric and he gasps, pulling it fully out of the bag. It's a Hello Kitty plush, wearing a blue and pink outfit, and he squeals in delight, practically crushing it against his body with a hug. Goldust rubs a hand over his arm, and he practically throws himself at her, squishing the plush between the two of them.

“Thank you thank you thank you mommy!”

His smile is wide and she's wearing a matching one, tapping her finger against his nose. “I knew you would like it, baby. She's all yours to keep, forever.”

Mick never got to keep anything as a kid, and she knows this. Anything he'd gotten would either be destroyed or taken away as a punishment, as a reminder why he couldn't have anything gentle to himself. Goldust has been working on fixing that, finding reasons to give him gifts and reassure him that it doesn't come with the condition of him being perfect all of the time.

“Now it's almost bedtime-” Mick pouts at this, but she continues anyway. “So why don't we get this off and get ready for the night? That way Santa can come!”

He's dragged a hand up to the clasps of Mick's mask, and he undoes it slowly, looking for any sign that he should stop. He gets it fully off and smiles at Mick, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth. Mick’s eyes widen at the mention of Santa and he nods, standing up still holding his plush against his body. Goldust leads him to the kitchen, and he ruffles through the cabinets until he finds a suitable plate and a matching cup, placing them down on the counter.

“Baby, how about you find the cookie you think Santa will like the most, and you can put it on this plate for him?”

Mick nods and starts searching through the cookies they had decorated earlier, while Goldust grabs the milk and carrots from the fridge, and he eventually picks a cookie in the shape of a tree. He had decorated it to look like theirs, green with messy tinsel and golden ornaments, and he picks it up proudly.

“Mommy, got the cookie!” He places it down on the plate at her approval, humming happily when she smiles. She pours the milk into the glass, handing him the plastic bag of baby carrots she had just opened. “Wha do I do with this?”

“Well,” she places the lid back on the milk, putting it back on the fridge before turning back to him. “How many carrots do you think the reindeer need?”

“There's nine of em.”

Goldust wraps an arm around his shoulder, smiling. “That's right! You're so smart, baby.”

His uncovered face flushes at the compliment and he counts out 9 carrots, placing them on the plate next to the cookie. “One for each?”

Goldust nods and puts the carrots away, placing a kiss on the top of Mick's head while he smiles. “Now that that's done, let's head to bed.”

Usually Mick would throw a fit, or at least complain about going to bed early, but now he's excited to get to curl up next to his mommy and wake up in the morning and see what Santa brought for him. He makes sure to grab her blanket from the couch, glitter absolutely permanently embedding itself on the couch, and rushes to their bedroom, waiting for Goldust to catch up to him. He lays down the plush next to him, kissing the plush's bow, before he pulls the blanket over himself. He feels Goldust slide into the bed next to him and he flips over to face her, holding the blanket up with one arm. She snuggles in next to him, wrapping the blanket around the two of them and holding Mick against her.

“Goodnight baby, I love you. Merry Christmas.” He finishes his sentence with a kiss on Mick's forehead, and Mick closes his eyes, getting comfortable in his arms, head tucked under his chin.

“I love you too. Merry Christmas mommy.”
