Summary:

For as long as he could remember, Hugo was always by Luca's side. Sharing pain and happiness throughout the decades, he believed that their bond was unbreakable. However, when the time finally came for them to work on Core Engage system, Luca was left speechless by what he saw within Hugo's memories. What he thought he knew of his friend was suddenly brought into question, and when Keith suggested Hugo might have been hiding something all along, he was even more devastated.

One day as Luca pondered on what he should do, a forbidden secret was suddenly spilled out of Zeke's mouth, leading to a journey in search of answers. Both for Hugo's secretive feelings and his own.

Chapter 1: Tread Carefully! Is This Story For You?

Hello, everyone! I’m back again with another fict, this time with God Eater 3. My friend introduced me to it just a few months before, and admittedly, saying that I am in love with it is an understatement. I found myself really growing attached to the very touching found-family story of the game, and I was a little disappointed when I found out that the franchise was not more well-known.

 

With the 15th Anniversary of the franchise silently passing by us in 2025, I wanted to add something to the fandom’s table. It’s not a lot, but I simply wanna share about this lovely game, and maybe, hope that GE4 will dawn on us soon too. 

 

That being said, please consider this before reading :

  • Spoilers for the entirety of GE3, including the two expansions (Another Devil & Traversing The Past), as well as the character novels.
  • This is a bit of a canon divergence AU of Hugo’s Traversing The Past campaign, which would connect right back into the canon ending. In other words, this is what I imagined happened between the battles when he and Luca (the player character) are raising their Resonance Sync Rate level.
  • Though it is implied in the game that Hugo was the second to raise their Resonance Sync Rate after Claire, I am making the one change that made him the last instead (before Ein, of course.)
  • Naming schemes and honorifics will follow the official English translation of the game instead of the Japanese dub.
