in the a.m

Summary:

Throughout his life, Sunghoon was always able to give logical explanations for everything he couldn't understand.
When his first tooth disappeared under his bed without warning, he assumed it was the tooth fairy — when his parents divorced and he had to stay with his mom while his brother stayed with their dad, he assumed it was because it was more equitable.

That's why he doesn't understand and can't give a logical explanation as to why Sunoo, his beloved dongsaeng and roommate, doesn't talk to him anymore.

"Sunoo-yah" Sunghoon pouts and —to everyone's surprise— he whines. "Talk to me, please"

Sunoo take off his airpod, looking at him with a bored expression. "Huh? I didn't hear you hyung"

Sunghoon can't stand it anymore.

Summary:

Just Sunghoon losing the Sunoo points, crying and dying.

Chapter Text

Sunghoon liked his routine.

Every day he wakes up at 8 a.m., showers and does his skincare, by 8:40 he's already having breakfast. He leaves at 9 a.m. and heads to his campus. He attends all his classes and heads back to his apartment by 3 p.m.

But now, Park Sunghoon hates his routine. Because everything he did, he did it with Sunoo.

“Sunoo-yah" Sunghoon pouts and (to everyone's surprise) he whines. "Talk to me, please"

At this point Sunghoon was desperate, according to him, he had always been Sunoo's favorite, the youngest followed him everywhere, to the store, to his classes (although they shared classes because they both studied literature, Sunghoon liked to think that Sunoo followed him there too) even to the bathroom (again, it was only once but Sunghoon likes to prove his point of being the favorite)

That's why Sunghoon doesn't know why Sunoo is treating him so harshly.

Sunoo take off his airpod, looking at him with a bored expression. "Huh? I didn't hear you hyung"

Sunghoon can’t stand it anymore, he quickly gets up from the couch and runs (yes, runs) to Jungwon's room.

“How does it feel to have lost Sunoo's points?” Jungwon says with a smile while playing on the computer, not even needing to look at Sunghoon because he knows he'll see him questioning his entire existence.

Sunoo points... if Sunghoon could explain them in any way, it would be with one word: privileges. For some, it was money, for others, likes, for others, followers and bitcoins, but for Sunghoon, it was Sunoo points.

These points, created by Sunoo himself, meant thousands of opportunities for whoever had them. Ni-ki once collected 200 points and Sunoo took him on a trip, Heeseung once collected 150 and Sunoo did his homework for him for two weeks.

In reality, earning them was complicated, which is why their rewards were so good. Each boy had to complete the tasks Sunoo stipulated on a personalized list. If they completed them, Sunoo awarded them the corresponding points.

That's why Sunghoon was so concerned about his points; they had cost him blood, sweat, and effort... or so he said.

“...”

“Yeah, totally” Jungwon sighs, looking at Sunghoon for a second and grimacing at seeing him in the same position as "Le Penseur" (Jungwon studies arts, don’t forget it please).

"I have 30 Sunoo points and you?"

“...”

“Well, that sucks”

To say Sunghoon was overly exaggerated was an understatement.

It was only Tuesday, three days since Sunoo had decided to stop being his friend (in Sunghoon's own words), and he felt like he couldn't take it anymore.

That's why he was in bed, with Gaeul on one side and his friends lined up on the other.

“Are we really doing this?” Heeseung whispers to Jake. He's not sure what's going on, but he got an invitation to Sunghoon's funeral yesterday, — Sunghoon actually took the time to handwrite six invitations to his funeral, hoping Sunoo would believe he was dead and come see him. He didn't.— so he thought he should attend, at least to see if there was food (there wasn't).

“We have to support him, he was there when I got stuck on the washing machine” Jake whispers, trying to make sure no one else hears it.

Ni-ki, who took Sunghoon's funeral seriously and was nearly in tears at his bedside, wiped his tears and, with a chuckle, looked at Jake, "You did what? I thought it was Jay hyung, I mean, that's what Sunghoon hyung said…”

Jay doesn't even flinch. He should be finishing sewing the jacket he'd hand in as homework (guess what he's studying), but here he is, watching Sunghoon fake his death to make Sunoo feel sorry for him.

Pathetic, isn't it?.

Sunghoon senses Jay is thinking badly of him because he opens one eye and looks at each of his friends standing next to him. First, Jungwon, who's holding his phone, chatting with who knows who. Then comes Heeseung and Jake, who are obviously the ones who care about him the most (or so he wants to think). Ni-ki is next, and Sunghoon has a lot of doubts about it, —  his eyes are watering?— And then comes Jay, that's it…

“Sooo, where is Sunoo?”

Everyone pretends not to understand the question. Jungwon calls Gaeul over to play, Heeseung and Jake stare at the ceiling in amusement, Jay is nowhere to be seen, and Ni-ki sighs, still teary-eyed. “Who do you think donated your legs to you?”

Sunghoon closes his eyes again as he shakes his head, making a sound like wailing mixed with despair. He doesn't know what to do anymore, even though he only did one thing (this funeral) without any success.

“Uhm, I gotta go.” Ni-ki says, trying to find the best words to explain what he was about to do, “I have to get some Sunoo points.”

Sunghoon cries.
