Work Text:
Decades have passed since Corrin the Vallite King of Old set out on his journey. A journey to find his own path and bring peace to both Nohr and Hoshido. Through countless battles, the prince of fate and his army managed to bring down the mastermind pulling the strings throughout the conflict, the evil dragon Anankos. He did all of this in hopes of a better future for the sake of his friends and family. After the war Corrin was hailed as a hero and became the king to a newly rebuilt Valla, eventually he would marry his childhood friends Felicia and Flora and become a father to Kana and Kelvin. The Kingdom of Valla would be at peace in the years to come.
Generations later, Corrin now an old man would be seated in a flower field just outside the Vallite Kingdoms walls. Even after so much time has passed he still retained his calm and gentle demeanor. Although he wasn't alone as two very excitable youths sat before him, all of them seated in a vibrant sea of flowers.
"Tell us more grandpa please" said the youthful pair. Corrin had been regaling them with stories of his past adventures and based on the star shaped pupils in their eyes, they truly enjoyed listening to what he had to say.
How are they doing that? To this very day not even the old half manakete himself knew how such a feat was possible. His only recollection of how such a thing was possible would be when he spent time with his son and daughter. Kelvin and Kana his pride and joy. The both of them having left this world long ago along with the rest of his friends and family.
These two are just like them. At times the royal could see the resemblance these two had with his own children. It made sense, after all these two were his actual descendants. To add to it these two were also in fact distant relatives, with their shared bloodline originating from his marriage to his two maids Flora and Felicia. Growing up together these two are basically childhood friends.
The first of these two children is a boy named Seth who inherited light blue hair just like how his son Kelvin inherited it from Flora. It was kept short since it would be a hassle for him if it grew any longer. He takes his duties as a royal very seriously and at times is capable of hiding his expression. Despite the many tasks given to him, he's more than capable of completing them and is also very studious as he is often found reading in the castle library.
The second child is a girl named Sara who inherited pink hair the same as how Kana inherited it from Felicia. Due to her hair’s length it's kept tied up in a ponytail. She is more on the clumsy side, occasionally dropping things here and there. It’s not that she didn’t take her work seriously, it's more like these things tend to happen to her from time to time. She struggled but thankfully Seth was there to console her whenever she felt down about it.
They get along quite well. As the noble thought this, the sun had begun to set bringing an end to another wonderful day.
“I think it’s about time to call it a day,” the old king said to the both of them, smiling gently. They weren’t his children nor were they his grandchildren but it didn’t stop Corrin from loving them any less. They were still family after all, even if his blood within them had diminished over the years.
“Aaaaaaawwwwww” the children groaned, displeased that story time was over.
Making their way back to the castle the trio walked past various stalls and shops. To this day it amazes the half manakete that despite how long it’s been since they’ve rebuilt Valla it still looked the same, at least in some aspects. There were some things that had changed over the years especially in terms of architecture but they were small and subtle.
The children ran around or at least Sara did, Seth for the most part walked with etiquette displaying what he’s learned in his royal studies. Corrin himself walked with a cane in hand at a much slower pace. Oh to be young again Corrin thought witnessing the little ones actions.
At times citizens and shop owners alike would greet and speak with them about simple things such as how things were or how beautiful a day it was. Despite being as old as he was, Corrin was still quite handsome and because of this the old royal would get flirted on by various elderly ladies who wanted even a small amount of his attention, but Corrin would pass these off as small acts of kindness. His reasons for doing this were intentional, he didn’t want to find new love, till the day he died he would remain loyal to both his wives.
He missed his wives, not a day went by that he didn’t miss their embrace, the sweet nothings they would say to each other, the nights they spent sleeping together on the same bed with Flora always being on his right while Felicia occupied his left. Even in their old age they were still the most beautiful women he had ever had the pleasure of gazing upon. The story of how they began their relationship always brought a smile to his face. What was originally supposed to be a secret amongst the three of them turned into something accepted by every single one of their friends. How they’re friends found out, well just because they were keeping their romantic life a secret didn’t mean they were good at it. To think everyone already knew, how embarrassing the dragon thought, a blush forming from remembering such an event.
But as with everything else, time moves ever forward. The old royal would eventually have to say his goodbyes.
The three of them eventually made it to the castle, by that time night had fallen, home at last or at least in Seth’s case. Sara lived in a mansion nearby but was allowed to sleepover with her parents permission. Once inside the trio separated. Seth and Sara went to their rooms or at least Seth’s room since Sara still wanted to spend time with him. They must be getting ready for bed, the manakete thought in regards to Seth’s parents not being present as soon as they entered the castle doors.
Corrin then made his way to his room. His room was illuminated by the burning candle placed beside his bed allowing him to prepare himself for a good night's sleep. He began changing into comfortable pajamas that involved a grey long sleeve shirt and matching pants.
“Today was a good day” he said to himself smiling as he started climbing into bed and covering himself in his blankets.
So peaceful and warm. As he laid on his bed the old noble began having thoughts. Truth be told he was happy with how things were in the world. While there were still conflicts here and there, it didn’t stop everyone from finding a more peaceful solution. To think that a war that happened so long ago resulted in this. All in all Corrin was satisfied, at ease even, there was no doubt about it, his role had come to an end. Now it was time for the future to be left in the hands of the younger generation. The old king would blow out his candle and drift off into slumber.
The next few days would be just as calm. The old king however would eventually become ill. Many would try and cure him but none could ever understand what ailed him.
Within his room lying on his bed and surrounded by his loved ones the old king had very little time left for this world. Seth and Sara stared at him, tears streaming from their eyes filled to the brim with sadness. To them the thought of having to lose someone so dear was truly heartbreaking. With his remaining strength Corrin took a hold of their hands and with a smile departed to them his final words.
“I entrust it all to the both of you” leaving behind this final message the half manakete would then close his eyes and enter eternal slumber.
Not long after, a memorial would be held in his honor, for all the things he had done to make the world the way it was now. There were tears but for those who were inspired by his actions there was hope. After all his parting wasn’t a goodbye, it was him entrusting the future to the generations to come.
When Corrin opened his eyes a bright blue sky greeted the young noble. Sitting up he noticed that he was in the middle of a field filled with a variety of flowers that stretched out as far as the eye can see. Taking a closer look Corrin noticed that wore his old grey armor he had on during the war. Am I in my younger body? What is this place? the manakete thought as he looked around.
As he continued to look around he saw a tree but that was not what caught his eyes, it’s what was beneath that tree. Underneath the tree he noticed two figures and based on their shape they were female. He could barely see who they were as the tree was quite the distance away from his current location. And so the old now younger royal began his walk towards those two figures.
The closer he got the more those figures came into view and without realizing it he began running. No it can’t be!!!
As Corrin made it to the tree, he managed to stop a few feet away from the two womanly figures. Finally in full view he now knew who they were.
“Wha-bu-huh” the royal was speechless mainly due to the fact that right before his very eyes were the two individuals he yearned to see more than anything.
“Welcome Lord Husband” the two women said in unison smiles etched across their faces.
“Felicia Flora it- it’s you” the noble said tears beginning to stream down his face.
The king's very own wives were right in front of him. Like him they too were in their younger bodies. Both of them wore their old maid attire they had on during the war and their hair went back to the old ponytail and pigtail look, something the royal hadn’t seen in a long time.
Unable to control his emotions he embraced the both of them. Both maids smiled at their husbands embrace, they too yearned to reunite with their husband awaiting the day when they would finally meet him in this realm. It was the sole reason the both of them remained, should they pass on they would do it together.
“I missed you both so much,” Corrin continued, unable to stop the tears from falling.
“We missed you too my beloved”
“Yes we missed you so much darling”
By this time both Flora and Felicia had begun crying. Just as they continued to embrace each other, so too did their tears continue to fall. So much time had been spent separated that they couldn’t help but let out all of their emotions. The embrace itself would go on for a while. After the three had calmed down, the royal and his maid wives decided to sit down on the stump of the tree.
The three had started exchanging stories with Corrin discussing how the world became long after the war and his time spent with their very own descendants. The young manakete felt bad about leaving Seth and Sara behind but knew that even if he wasn’t with them they would still keep heading towards the future together. Always watching out for one another.
The twin maids began telling their husband on what they have been up to while in this realm. The friends and family members who went on ahead of them as well as their plan to remain and wait for their lord husband to arrive.
“ I see, so that's how it is,”the royal said, putting the pieces together.
“Yes we could not bear the thought of leaving without you beloved” Flora said, still a little emotional but starting to compose herself.
“We decided that if we move on then we’d move on together darling” Felicia said showing a bit more emotion than her sister.
After spending some more time together the three of them finally decided to stand up.
“Let get going then” the young manakete said to his beloved wives.
“Yes/ Yeah” said both maids to their husband.
Both maids then decided to latch on to their lord husbands arms with Flora taking his right while Felicia clung to his left. The three would then begin walking, to where they did not know, but that mattered little to them. Together they walked and together they shall remain, nothing will separate them ever again, now and forever.
