Work Text:
Today, Thorn just got a task from his science teacher: an experiment about electricity. He and Gempa had just come back from the store, buying his experiment equipment.
“I can’t wait to see the result!” Thorn said happily, hugging the bag full of his experiment equipment. Gempa just stifled a laugh at Thorn’s excitement.
They entered the house and put the bag on the living room table.
“Be careful while doing it. I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me,” Gempa said, ruffling Thorn’s hair before going to the kitchen to prepare lunch.
“Okayy!” Thorn replied happily, taking out all the equipment from the bag.
“Let's do this!” Thorn said, looking at his notes from science class earlier.
“What are you doing, Thorn?” Thorn was surprised to hear the youngest voice. He thought Solar was sleeping, but he was wrong.
“Oh, Solar, what are you doing here?” Thorn asked, giving a soft smile. Solar sat beside him.
“Just wandering around the house,” Solar replied, his eyes focused on the instructions in Thorn's notebook.
Thorn ignored Solar’s presence and started the experiment. He needed to finish quickly, or his teacher would be mad.
“You didn’t answer my question…” Solar pouted. Thorn stopped what he was doing.
“Ah, sorry about that. What was your question again?” Thorn asked, sheepishly scratching his cheek.
“What are you doing?” Solar repeated.
“But it seems I don’t need your answer; I already know it,” Solar continued. Thorn felt bad hearing that.
“Sorry about that,” Thorn said, looking down.
Solar shook his head. “Nope, you didn’t do anything wrong. Don’t be sorry,” Solar replied. Thorn could only smile softly.
“So… you want to do the experiment with me?” Thorn asked, whispering, afraid Gempa would hear.
“I can??” Solar asked happily. Thorn nodded, chuckling at Solar’s reaction.
“Of course~ But first rule: you need to be careful!” Thorn reminded him. Solar nodded eagerly. This was his first time doing a real experiment—not just making foam with soap and water.
Solar watched Thorn do the experiment, using a lemon to light up the bulb. Solar helped by passing equipment to Thorn. Even though it looked simple, passing the wrong equipment could cause problems.
After some time, finally, the experiment worked. The bulb lit up, making Thorn and Solar happy.
“Woah! I never thought it was real! I thought it was just theory,” Solar said, taking notes in his mini notebook he always brought with him.
“Heh, power, isn’t it?” Thorn asked. Solar nodded excitedly.
“Amazing!” Solar exclaimed.

That night, Solar and Hali were in the living room while the others were in their own rooms, except Gempa, who was washing the dishes.
Solar was reading a book while Hali scrolled on his phone.
“Tsk, my phone battery is almost dead…” Hali grumbled, putting his phone down and searching for his charger.
“Wait… where’s my charger…” Hali mumbled, going to ask Gempa and ending up searching together.
Solar overheard and looked at them, then his eyes landed on Thorn’s project. His eyes glimmered as ideas popped into his head.
After a long search, Hali gave up and planned to go to his room. He would search again tomorrow. He was sure Taufan had hidden it, but Taufan was already asleep. He didn’t want to be scolded by Gempa for waking him up.
When everyone was asleep, Solar tiptoed into Hali’s room, took the phone, and brought it along with some of Thorn’s experiment tools back to his own room. He hid under his bed.
After some tries, he managed to charge the phone using a lemon, making him happy. He forgot he was under the bed and bumped his head on it, wincing softly.
But he didn’t mind. He just looked at Hali’s phone, which was starting to charge.
“I did it.” He smiled, came out from under the bed, and went to his table, writing about the experiment before giving back the phone after it was half charged.
“The experiment’s so fun! I can’t wait to do more,” Solar said, closing the book that had Solar’s Experiment Book written on the front.
The next day, Hali woke up surprised to see his phone was half charged.
