Chapter Text
After Mika had invited Shu to go and pick out fabrics, how could Shu disagree? So now here they were, a little fabric shop about an hour walk away from their shared apartment.
So now, they were situated within this building. Despite the dusty interior and cluttered mess of fabrics everywhere with hastily scribbled prices, Shu tried not to make any comments — Mika looked like he was enjoying himself.
Shu looked down at the sketch that Mika had given him to look over. The sketch was pretty enough, and the outfit was clearly inspired by those Shu had designed. Shu smiled as he ran a hand over the page.
“Oshi-san, d’you think this silk would look nice for the capelet?” Mika asked,
Shu looked over at the red silk and hummed in thought, he walked over to Mika and felt the silk. He took the silk and found a window. He watched how the light bounced off of the fabric.
“It’s fake silk. It will make the whole outfit look cheap.”
Shu then proceeded to hold the fabric up to Mika’s chest. Examining the fabric in contrast with his skin, hair, and eyes, before he pulled the fabric away.
“This won’t do it all, it’s too muted. It completely clashes with your skin. You’re absolutely gorgeous Kagehira, and I’d hate to see some bad fabric blemish your beauty.”
Shu traveled to the shelf of silks and picked up a warmer red, he compared it to the sketch that Mika had made. Seeing if the colours matched up, once he was sure that it did. He walked back to Mika and checked the validity of the cloth before testing it against Mika’s skin.
Oh, how beautiful Kagehira looked in the light, warm red fabric against his skin. Shu felt a warmth overtake his cheeks. To distract himself, he pointed to some of the embroidery on Mika’s sketch.
“This is pretty complex, if you ever need help with it. Please be sure to ask me.”
Shu offered, watching as Mika’s face lit up with joy. However, perhaps due to noticing that Shu was staring, Mika looked away shyly.
“Ya really don’ have to oshi-san.” Mika looked away in embarrassment, and Shu shook his head.
“I insist.”
Once again, Shu watched as Mika’s face bloomed with delight. Shu shook his head, did Mika even know how beautiful he was? When he smiled, it was like a fresh breeze on a hot summer day. How he wanted to see Mika smile for the rest of life.
Shu snapped out of his thoughts to resume helping his lover pick out fabrics and lace. Once he was finished, he offered to pay for the red silk: ‘I picked it out so it would only be fitting of me to pay for it.’.
The two of them then made the trek back to their apartment, putting the fabrics away on the shelves with the bounty of those already stored. It was all organized by type of fabric, then colour, then lastly quality.
Once that was all done, Shu gave Mika his sketchbook back, he wrapped his arms around Mika’s shoulders and placed a soft peck on his forehead.
“I had a good day with you Kagehira.”
Mika reciprocated the embrace, mumbling a ‘me too’ as he relished in the affection.
