MHA: Lady and the Nerd

Summary:

The battle with Overhaul is over, and Izuku isn’t the only one struggling in the aftermath. Yu Takeyama is diagnosed with a severe concussion, and anyone in her life that could watch over her for her first night of recovery is indisposed.

What a coincidence that Deku, the hero of the hour and a kid that seems fairly familiar, is walking through the lobby at the same time she is.

And what a stroke of luck that he refuses to let her be alone while she is recovering.

Notes:

This will be a two shot, whenever I choose to write out the rest of it.

Chapter Text

“What exactly are you saying here? I’m too fucked up to go home and sleep but not enough to stay here?”

The doctor flushed as the crass language of the rather beautiful hero flew.

“Miss. Takeyama, the abrasions on your arm and a concussion generally wouldn’t require further treatment… but as always with concussions, we take precautions. It’s normal for the first night after such an injury, to be monitored by a friend or family member.” The doctor explained, his voice playcating and soft. “In general, every sixty to ninety minutes after the patient falls alseep.”

She gave a very unimpressed look.

“I assure you it’s proper procedure. If you… don’t have anyone available, we can set up the Teledoc to call you at a personal number to check on you throughout the night, but we generally-“

“It’s fine, I got someone to do it.” She lied, a disgruntled look on her face. “Just seems dumb that you’d release me with a head injury that you think could kill me. I pay damn good money for this insurance.”

The doctor shrugged helplessly.

“Takeyama, quit being a drama Queen and get out.” She turned to see Kamui wood giving her a pointer yet playacting look. “He’s just following his training. Listen to the man, and have one of your little boy toys come spend the night.”

She frowned and stood up, the room spinning a bit as she righted herself, and nodded to Kamui. “Yeah yeah, I got it. When’s my checkup?”

“Next week we will test you again and hopefully return you to active duty.”

“Great.” A whole week to remind herself that no one ever sticks around long enough anyway…

She made her way easy enough to the elevators, heading down to the lobby. The sudden stop at the bottom made her headache feel like a immature explosion as her eyes felt like they were going to pop out, but by the time the doors opened, she had recovered enough to move out of everyone else’s way.

She found a little spot on the floor where no one was walking, and took up roots there, struggling to work her phone through the headache.

She might be able to get Nemuri to check up on her in the morning, that should be fine… maybe Rumi… no, probably not rumi…

Moe? Maybe Moe, her old upperclassman buddy wouldn’t mind checking on her, right?

Yeah… maybe Moe…

Boy that kid looks like absolute shit. Was he one of the sidekick students from the raid maybe? He was sure built like one, despite being a short-

Oh! That… Green. He was Night eyes…

Poor kid. Probably even more lost than she was…

Well, she could check on him while she tried to figure out how she was going to get through the night…

“Hey! Greeny!”

-

Izuku frowned as he walked out into the lobby of the hospital, an enormous weight seemingly pressing down on him as he struggled to even breath, his eyes leaking as he tried to hold back the impending melt down.

Sir… was dead.

He was just… gone…

He’d just died less than an hour ago… No one outside the raid teams knew yet, they didn’t want anyone finding out in a cruel way.

They had all been able to say goodbye, the man meeting with a few people privately before he slipped into the afterlife, most of his loved ones by his side… then a brief period of grieving for everyone else. Sir was beloved as much as he was revered after all, and before he knew it, everyone went off to do what needed to be done.

Centepeder was handling the agency, Bubble girl was off to do whatever it was she did, All Might and Gran Torino had gone to inform his next of kin themselves.

Mirio was hospitalized still, they were running tests and he was being included into the investigation into the quirk destroying bullets and Eri’s relocation case… which had Eraserhead tied up as he was the only one who could stop her if she had another episode…

So, izuku was on his own as he entered the lobby, ready to leave the hospital and move on with his day, trying to wrap his head around it all. He’d have a while he supposed.

He wasn’t due back to the agency due a week, and wouldn’t be needed at the school until then too…

How had it all gone so wrong…

How could this have happened?

How…

“Hey! Greeny!-er… ah…Deku Right?…”

Izuku tried to ignore it, but the feminine voice did sound familiar.

He reluctantly raised his head, finding a woman in civilian attire, but rather patched up herself.

Tight jeans, a lavender blouse, and some kind of sport sandal on her feet…

Blonde hair, magenta eyes, an inch or so shorter than him.

She had bandages around her head, and her whole right arm was wrapped as well. She seemed a bit off balance as well, maybe a leg injury hidden by the jeans?

She was very pretty as well. And she seemed really familiar-

“Oh! Mt… I mean… I’m… um… miss Takeyama…” he floundered, his eyes falling again. “Was there anything I could help you with?”

“Yeah kid… you look pretty lost… so how about you escort me home. Doc said I have a wicked concussion.” She says as she sort of stumbled forward. “And you look like you need something to keep your mind of him… I could use that too, I guess. I only met him a few times, but he leaves an impression.”

Izuku felt his tears welling up again.

“Cmon kid, let’s get me home, yeah?”

-

Centepeder had just texted him to let him know that they were releasing the news in about an hour.

He checked the time again to see that it was almost 2 in the afternoon, and other than his quiet companion who kept giving him questioning and concerned looks, he didn’t have much to distract him as the cab brought the unlikely duo a few municipalities over to her appartment.

It was almost unnessassary to release it at this point. It was all over all the hero forums and even picked up by some news outlets, but it was the right thing to do. An official statement would serve as the end of his life and the beginning of his mourning.

Sir Nighteye was a very beloved figure in the hero fan communities, mostly fit his work under All Might; but also fit his own record and his fan interactions. Especially his sporadic appearance at Hero-conventions…

It had been about thirty hours since they had been discussing and planning the raid on Overhaul, and he felt like time was almost standing still.

How could everything around him be moving so fast when he felt stuck out of time…

He had been quiet most of the way to her apartment. They had made a notion of small talk and she had thanked him for stepping up and helping her, but he had told her he was happy to do it.

He was a fan of her afterall, and upon seeing her asking for a chaperone home, he knew he was needed by her far more than doing anything he had planned to go and do once he got home...

Thankfully, she was able to get a cab. He didn’t know how bad her injury was, but concussions were no joke to hero’s. Taking trains would have been a nightmare.

More that a few Heros had passed away in their sleep after massive villain fights, and While Yu-boy it was weird calling her by her first name, but she insisted-had claimed her concussion wasn’t that bad, he caught her slurring her speech a few times, and she hadn’t had very good Balance as she walked out of the hospital and hailed the cab.

Even just on the ride so far age had seemed to be in and out of it, her head lolling a bit when the driver changed lanes.

He was actually rather worried about her. He had never had any interactions with her after the sludge villain incident, but he had kept abreast to her like he did all hero’s, and it seemed like she had become more and more dedicated since then. He couldn’t tell if this was normal behavior for her or not.

Though, Mineta had horror stories about internship week with her, he assumed she just had her quirks, like anyone who did the job long enough.

“Hey deku… whatsh your real name?” She asked from next to him, looking out the window as she blunk hard a few times.

“O-Oh! Izuku! Izuku midoriya maam.” He said quickly, once again worrying as her head bobbed tiredly and she slumped a bit, looking at him.

“Midoriya… like the kid from the sludge incident.” She muttered, looking him over. “Cousin of yours? That scrawny kid that charged an A-rank? You shur look alike…”

“Um… that was me maam…” he admitted with both a blush and a look of concern. “Thank you for your work that day…”

Well she was in civilian clothes, so she was probably discharged, right? He was beginning to worry that whatever her head injury was, it might be too far to rest off at home.

“Wha? No, no way. That kid was a pipsqueak, and your all hunky and shredded… yud have needed to…” she blunk hard and shook her head. “Too much thinking… shit this might be worse than I thought.”

Her hands gently came up to rub her temples.

He was of that suspicion too… maybe he should call-

“Here we are, Crown Flats. What’s your hero number maam?”

“Oh it’s… it’s… I… it starts with a five?”

“Use mine sir, 1252439153.” Izuku offered as he looked her over.

“Let’s give it a shot-oh hey! You’re that sidekick that crushed the yakuza boss! Nice meeting ya kid! What happened to her?” The cabbie asked as he looked back at her. “Ah, looks like a concussion-oh! Yeah and you’re Mount lady, right? You better hurry up and get her inside kid, she don’t look so hot.”

“Hey! I’m hot as hell!” She immediately answered, before wincing hard and muttering something under her breath.

Izuku quickly hopped out his side and ran around to hers, opening the door as she nearly spilled out. “Yu? Let’s get you inside ok? Which floor is your appartment on?”

“Not so loud kid… Not so loud…”

-

Izuku sighed as he watched the tv in her living room.

He was currently standing in the kitchen, rereading the list his mother had sent him. Yu was laid out on her couch, falling in and out of a fitful sleep.

He felt terrible waking her up every hour, but that was the protocol.

The announcement from Centepeder had played a few times now. It was a nice send off for the man. Centepeder had done well, and of course, All Might had made a video and posted it directly to HeroTube, a very touching tribute to the man where he spoke about his time with him and how devastated his is by the loss.

Izuku of course had watched it a few times while Yu got some sleep in.

It was almost 8pm now, his mother had nearly blown a gasket when he had told her he was staying the night there to keep an eye on Yu.

Not angrily though, she had said all kinds of embarrassing things about hygiene and protection, then asked when she would get to meet his new girlfriend.

Her excitement was replaced swiftly by worry as Izuku told her exactly who Yu was, and why he needed to stay.

She had quickly listed of about a dozen things to watch for and told him to call her immediately if a few of them happened, or to call for a rescue squad if she wouldn’t wake up.

Now though, it was Izuku worrying.

Didn’t she have anyone that could have done this that wasn’t a complete stranger?

Death arms had patrol all night now, and Kamui was still in the hospital.

Death arms and her also apparently weren’t on speaking terms. The man had been contemplating retirement after All Might retired, and while he decided against it, Yu admitted that she was heavily considering leaving the Lurkers and going it on her own…

After enough prodding while he tried to get her to eat something, he found out that… no. She didn’t. She didn’t have anyone. She only had her co-workers, and they barely counted since, as he saw now, they wouldn’t be there when the chips were down and she truly needed someone…

Her family lived in the northern isles and they weren’t exactly proud of her hero persona.

Some time around her graduation, if Izuku had to guess, most of them cut contact the only one who consistently still talked to Yu was her mother.

Her mother, could be there the next morning, but Yu had claimed that she doubted the woman would stay more than a few hours if she even showed up. She had only called when she was in the hospital.

It was hard to understand for Izuku. Class 1-A would be at each others side in a second if something like this happened. They proved it when Bakugo, the least likeable person in the class, was kidnapped…

Didn’t Yu have any other friends? Even just other hero’s? There had to be some hero nearby with the night off, right?

She had eaten some of the pizza he had ordered for them. Judging by the neat stack of pizza boxes and the fact that the delivery driver knew the appartment, that was probably a safe bet.

Now she was just falling in and out of it. She had thanked him profusely in one of her more lucid moments, but he was just happy to help.

“Hey… you still here kid?”

He bolted into the living room area and saw her sitting up, demolishing another slice of pizza.

“Do you need water or anything?” He asked quickly, squatting in front of her to look in her eyes, not seeing much with the glow of the setting sun.

“Water would be killer… hey kid-Izuku… you have your provisional, right?” She asked groggily as she huffed and shook her head, then wincing. “I can write you a cerfew pass of you don’t… so you aren’t stuck here…”

“Yeah, I have my provisional, but I’ll be here till morning anyway, so I won’t need a pass or anything… Let me go refill your water.” He said as he picked up the cup, a large novelty endeavor cup that she had specifically requested, and hurried to the kitchen.

He filled and returned it, getting a soft smile. “Thanks again… this is the first time in a long time someone took care of me.”

Izuku just smiled and nodded, then frowned as he looked out the window, then back to the couch. “Maybe it’s time to get you in bed?”

How long? She had been in school just two years ago… her Debute as a hero was only a year and a half ago… it seemed so strange that the 21 year old wouldn’t have someone-

“Oh I appreciate the help today Izuku, but not that much. I have a migraine to raise the dead right now, sorry kid.” She grinned a bit as she looked him over. “Maybe some other time?”

Izuku blunk a few times and then blushed heavily and sputtered.

She laughed a few Belts before her eyes tightened, her hands sprung to her temples, and she groaned and muttered almost under her breath. “Yu you Stupid ass making jokes at a time like this, he’s been your guardian Angel, don’t laugh at him…”

Izuku just blunk in shock at the admission, and, being an innocent little cream puff, simply stood up and offered her a hand as she tried to stand up herself.

She took it with a thankful look and righted herself.

He slowly lead her to her bedroom. “Do you need help-“

“Kid-Izuku-just… uh… t-turn around while I get changed?” She asked.

Izuku spun around and put his hands over his eyes.

“Jeez kid, you could at least pretend you wanted to sneak a peak.” She groused as he heard a drawer open, and then some clumsy steps. “I wassh all ready to make a lewd joke and everything…”

What sounded suspiciously like a belt and pants hitting the floor… followed by a t-shirt that was flung past his head at a hamper-FOLLOWED BY A BRA?! Then a pause as he heard some fabric rustling a bit and a few more stumbles.

“You should he good, I put on my longest shirt.” She said as she staggered a bit.

He heard her and turned, stepping forwards to carefully catch her and keep her upright, a hand under her armpit and the other on her unbandaged forearm.

“Quite the gentleman huh?” She laughed a bit before she grumbled. “And don’t you dare laugh at the shirt, it’s old but it’s one of my favorites.”

He blunk and, unable to stop himself, looked down, only to find the extremely defined swell of her endowment, just below his face… inches from his chest.

It was a white shirt, reaching almost to her knees and extremely baggy everywhere but her chest, where the word ‘Shirt’ was boldly printed across her bust.

“Oh! Oh my god I didn’t mean to, I mean it’s not like I, I thought you were going to, but you have a ‘shirt’ shirt too!” He rattled off, trying to achieve something, though he wasn’t exactly sure what. “Same colors and every thing…”

“Either that was a very quick recovery for staring at my chest, or I’m very happy that I finally met someone else with good taste.”

“I also have a shirt that says ‘pants’ on it…” he said quickly… “more than one actually… and a hoody that says ‘hoody’…”

“Got underwear that say boxers on them too?” She asked as she stumbled a bit towards her bed.

“N-no! No I definitely don’t! Why, would that be weird if I did?” He quickly splattered off, a look of embarrassment on his face.

“I’d show you mine if you did, I got a pair somewhere that says ‘thong’ on them, they are granny panties though.” She snorted before her back went ridged, her eyes wide as they looked at each other with matching blushes. “I… maybe shouldn’t have told you that?”

He just shrugged and stayed looking the other way. “Is there anything else I can get you before you fall asleep?”

“We’re ignoring it then?”

“As much as I can while you are standing there…”

“Uh… yeah… ah… go ahead and grab the extra blanket from the foot of the bed, you can use that on the couch, it’s a pull out… you’re sure your ok staying the night?” She asked, a rather quiet and reserved voice. “Cuz I’m sure I could get one of the teledocs to check in or-“

“Oh yeah that’s no problem, I don’t mind.” He said, turning back around finally to see the magenta eyes boring into him. “You sure you don’t need anything first?”

She didn’t say anything at first, just looking him over… “Top drawer in the left and second drawer in the middle… I… take a fresh shirt and some sleeper pants at least… you’re helping enough, I don’t want you to sleep even worse than we are both about to…”

Izuku just blunk a bit, but nodded. “Ok. Do you need help getting into bed?”

“…I seriously can not tell if you are just adorable and nervous, or if you’re the smoothest guy who’s hit on me in years…”

“I-I’m not-“

-

By the sixth time waking up to his alarm, Izuku could confidently say that he had a new appreciation for his own mother.

He sat up, tossing the blanket off and quietly making his way to her room, the door open from the last time he had checked on her. So far, she hadn’t had any trouble waking up, and was mostly coherent, if sleepy, as he had checked on her.

Ignoring the one time she had muttered something about big tasty something and feeding it to her as he held the horns oh her costume…

It was nearing two am now, and unlike last time, she wasn’t sound Al sleep…

This time he could already tell, was different.

There were soft sobs as she gripped at a pillow that she held to her chest.

“Yu? Are you ok?”

“No… no im not…” she muttered softly.

He sped around the bed, a hand gently on her shoulder. “What do you need? Some pain killers? Should I call-”

She tearfully shook her head and slowly reached out to him.

He offered his hand, but ate gently slapped it away and grabbed the shirt, slowly pulling him into the bed, shucking the pillow toward the headboard as she got her other hand on him and pulled him in closer, until he was laying awkwardly across her bed, and then her arms wrapped around his torso, just below his ribs. “I just need someone… I’m so sorry… if I wasn’t such a fuck up you wouldn’t need to be here at all… please… please just hold me… hold me so I can pretend that someone actually cares…”

And so… awkwardly as humanly possible, izuku settled in, the blanket that was wrapped up around Yu the only thing between them as his arms eventually found themselves around her, her shoulder in his armpit, her face in the crook of his neck, and her soft breath heating and cooling his-her- shirt.

Honestly, he didn’t think this was how the first night in a woman’s bed would happen, but as her soft sobs fell away, her breathing evening out, and tension left her, he figured there were way, way worse ways to spend a night.

-

The sun was finally up as his phone went off again.

“I’m fine.” She said into his chest, her arms retreating from him for the first time. “I probably shouldn’t cling to you like some kind of home sick puppy anymore…”

Izuku simply slowly disengaged himself, a horrendous awkwardness in the air.

Despite themselves, neither moved backwards. Her forehead sat on his jawline as are tried to tuck herself into her blanket again.

There were a few moments of pure silence before Izuku scooted back, her face leaving his chest for the first time in hours.

They slowly met each others eyes, both unsure what to say to the other.

“Um-…”

“I-…”

They both blushed a bit as Izuku smiled nervously.

“Do you… wanna… maybe I can go get breakfast or something?” Izuku asked.

She just looked at him with a frown. She said nothing as her magenta eyes, far clearer than they had been the night before, studied him.

“Or… um… do you.., want me to leave?”

“… no… not really…” she admitted with a heavier frown. “What I want isn’t realistic though…”

“…I don’t know what to say…”

“That I’m being silly, and that it was only a moment of weakness, that you are just a good person who let me use you for comfort…”

“Um… but… well I mean… Grade two concussions are pretty serious and you needed someone to-“

“But I didn’t need to force you to cuddle with me because of a concussion…” she said, her eyes downcast. “Way to fuck up again Yu…”

“Hey! Don’t talk about yourself like that!” He scolded her. “It’s what you needed at the time, and I don’t think any less of you for it.”

Her eyes didn’t change, but a small smile graced her lips. “You’re a hell of a sidekick Izuku. Maybe you’ll be a top hero some day… but today you’re just a young man I took advantage of…”

“I didn’t do anything I didn’t want to…”

“You’re 16, you don’t know what you want and don’t want yet…” she said with a small smile. “Hey, at least I didn’t give you head or something like I wanted to, right? So I had some kind of restraint… let’s… let’s just go report me to the hero commission and get this-“

His hand was over her mouth, and a look of shock, then confusion, filled his green eyes. “Report? Head?! Wait, report you? I don’t understand.”

She looked at him in shock, before a look of understanding crossed her face. “Fuck, you are still a first year! They don’t cover relationships in between provisional and fully licensed heros until second year…”

“Relationships? What like- but there are plenty of-“

“Izuku, what I did, last night, asking you to sleep with me… while… ok so just because your provisional license makes you legally an adult, it’s against hero laws for an older hero to enter into a any physical relationship with a provisional hero who is under age without permission from their guardians…” Yu explained.

“So?”

Her eye twitched. “We just shared a bed and cuddled for a few hours. Pretty physical? Wouldn’t you say??”

Izuku blunk and nodded, then grabbed his phone and quickly pressed a few buttons. “You just need permission right?”

“Yeah but that-“

Suddenly, she was on speaker phone…

“Izuku sweety, is everything alright with Takeyama-San?”

“Yeah mom, she never had any of the symptoms you told me to look for and her slurring stopped a few hours into the night, but she actually had something to ask you first, and I’ll explain everything once I get home, ok?”

“Of course sweety.” Her voice changed from an overtly affectionate to a rather reserved and somewhat confrontational tone. “Since I can hear that I’m on speaker phone, what is it you would like to know, Takeyama San? I assume Izuku has already informed you that I’m a licensed nurse practitioner, does this have to do with any ongoing treatment?”

“Oh-oh ah… no, no Mrs… um, uh-“

“Just call me Inko dear, I believe I know what you are about to ask me, and formalities will only get in the way.”

She blunk. “No… I don’t think you do, maam. Um? I’ll just ask, do I have permission to pursue a-“

“Yep!” Inko happily chirped. “I knew it! Yu honey, you have my temporary permission as of… oh let’s say six o’clock yesterday afternoon, that should cover it. I want to meet you though, so I can either come over in a few hours after my shift ends, or izuku can bring you to our appartment, whatever you are more comfortable with.”

“Uh, maam-“

“Inko.”

“Inko… I’m.. I’m asking for permission to-“

“Have a sexual relationship with my son, yes I understand dear. I was the same way with his father you know, I knew my baby boy would be a heart breaker and the second I heard that he was staying the night, I figured this might happen.” She said happily.

“O…k then.” Yu said, watching Izuku go deep red.

“Perfect, Izuku honey, just let me know if I’m coming to you or if you’re bringing her home.” Inko said sternly. “And you be a gentleman young man, you give her whatever she needs during her recovery. If your anything like your father, she will be bedridden for a day. Alright I have to get to my next patient, meet you soon dear!”

Click

They just blunk at each other.

“So… your mom?”

“She uh… she talks about grandkids a lot… she actually interrogated me about Ochako Chan and Yaomomo…” Izuku said with a deepening blush. “But… yeah, no need to report you for anything now… do you… want breakfast?”

“Jesus Christ you are such an adorable little shit….”

“I’m… sorry?”

Chapter 2

Chapter Text

She was wearing a baggy black hoodie, which sadly did not say hoodie on it, as well as some faded lose cut jeans. Tennis shoes and a black pair of sunglasses made up the rest of her outfit as she held onto his forearm for stability.

The hood was over the her head, her blonde hair tucked away behind her ears and fell down her back, only her mouth and nose visable to the public.

The slurring maybe gone, and her memory was much better, but the balance was still an issue so far. He had felt her tug him closer a few times, and had to assume that her balance was forcing them into this… overly familiar position.

He had his own pants from the day before, but he was wearing one of her shirts and a matching black hoodie, his bright red shoes sticking out as he lead her to the corner cafe she had mentioned.

His Poofy green hair was a beacon to anyone who knew him, but thankfully, he didn’t remember this municipality holding too many classmates.

It was… awkward probably wasn’t the correct word for it.

It wasn’t tense though. It was an easy yet difficult space they operated it.

They hadn’t spoken much, but neither particularly felt like talking.

It was rather late in the morning by the time they navigated her shower and changing, pretty much the only time she had been out of his sight, and she had suggested brunch at the cafe.

Secretly, she found it both adorable and sweet that he was so adamant about not seeing her in any more compromised states of dress, but she found it to be a massive source of displeasure for herself as well. It was a startling reminder exactly the nature of her past dates and love interested. While she had only ever allowed one man to have her in that way, that didn’t stop the rest from almost single mindedly pursuing exactly that.

The mirror view that was Izuku midoriya was such a stark departure from her normal. He only wanted to help and he didn’t want to gain anything from it.

She could have and would have showed him just about everything, rather happily, If he had wanted to see it.

It might be the concussion, but he had imprinted so fully on her in the last 20 hours that she found the lines of her own boundries… seemed almost non-existent when it came to the cute little muscle papi.

No man had ever held her as she cried herself to sleep. No man had ever stuck their neck out to help her, no man had ever stood in the box and faught it out with her about her own worth and her own mental health, or all but carried her around her appartment, helped her get ready, picked out her clothes, got her showered and brushed her hair…

God fucking damn it she was deeply ingrained, probably in love too, stupid fucking Yu! How could she let this happen? It didn’t matter that he wanted to help, he didn’t know any better! He was like 16? 17? What did he fucking know huh?

He knew how to make her feel special…

He knew how to make her feel like a fellow human being, and to treat her like she was worth more the manual labor and a womb to dump cum in.

He knew how to make her fall in love… even if he’d never know that…

Not if she had anything to say about it…

Izuku tried to wrap his head around everything as he sat her carefully in a chair, helping her scoot in closer to the table that sat in the edges of the sidewalk cafe, then joining her on the other side of that small table.

Now he was frantically going through the dozens of messages that had piled up while he was taking care of Yu, having ignored them for long enough.

Maybe taking his mind off the beautiful injured blonde across from him would help him sort everything out…

There were some texts that weren’t much of a surprise. Ochako and Ida had both messaged him a few times, Kirishima had hit him up twice, though he was still in the hospital. A few that were surprises were Momo, Mina, and surprisingly Bakugo.

He fired off the appropriate responses as he went, letting everyone know he would probably be indisposed for a while, and confirming with Momo to let Eraserhead know he’d be taking the full five days he was allowed.

Not only did he want to take care of Yu for at least the rest of today, but he still hadn’t grieved for Sir yet, and he knew that it wasn’t going to be good.

All might had said as much as well. He wanted to meet with him as soon as he was back at school, but All Might was handling the funeral arrangements and was in discussion about possibly merging his semi-closed agency with the remaining members of Night eye.

He would potentially do the paperwork and run the investigations, but it would be on Centepeder, Bubble Girl, and hopefully soon Mirio who would be handling the case load…

And Izuku himself.

If they merged instead of folding, then Izuku could sign on. Mirio would become Centepeder partner, and Izuku with Bubble girl.

A slight blush at that thought. If he had had an inappropriate thought or two about Yu since yesterday, then he had had a dozen about her in the last few weeks…

He replied to the last few messages with quick thank you for the condolences, and a promise to speak with Bubble Girl after the funeral to see how any partnership would work out.

Yagi had confided in Him that he didn’t think a merger was the correct idea and he worried that it would derail the natural progression of both Centepeder and Bubble Girls career, but that was a discussion they would all have after Sir’s service.

Yu watched him with interest as she kept an eye on everything around them. Some hero training sticks even through a concussion it seemed.

He had spent about eight minutes messaging people while their waited for a server, and she felt a knot firming up in her stomach.

So many people had checked on him. She vaguely remembered watching Centepeder announce Saikai’s passing… she was sure a few of his msgs were condolences, but more than a few had taken some lengthy replies, and as each and every one of his responses went out, she felt worse.

It was a big deal to her that he, a pretty much complete stranger, had stayed with her while she was vulnerable. He’d given up the night after his sensei died to make sure she would wake up today…

And it was obvious that unlike her, he had other people. Other people that were worried about him, other people who went out of their way to comfort him.

Probably other women who would have liked to be in her place last night, minus the concussion and the crying…

How many nights had she relied on crappy dates to eat up her loneliness? How many nights had she scrolled and scrolled on her phone, begging the universe to just receive one message that wasn’t an her manager informing her of work related crap…

How many times she brightened up by having her phone buzz in her pocket, only to pull it out to see a new mission from Kamui, or an endorsement deal from her manager?

How many times she’d wished she had someone who just wanted to check in on her; not because they needed her, but because they were worried, or just thinking about her…

How many dates she accepted that flamed out before desert just because the only damn thing those men wanted was to cum inside Mount lady, not get to know Yu Takeyama?

“What are we having today, Yu? Do you still need a moment sir?”

Oh fucking great, speaking of dates that went no where, there was one now.

She had forgotten that Ishino worked here.

“Give me all the bacon and eggs you have, Please.” She requested, looking up to him with a pleasant smile. “How have you been?”

“Can’t complain.” The waiter said politely, but immediately looked to Izuku. “One Large breakfast meat scrambler coming up. And you Sir?”

“I’ll have the Country fried steak with extra eggs and sausage please.” Izuku said with a smile as he handed the man the menus. “And both are on me, if you wouldn’t mind bringing the food out with the bill-”

“Hey hold on, let me at least pay you back for helping last night!”

“Nope, I was happy to do it and I’m happy to do this.” He said with a smile.

She just glowered. “Dumb hero brats being all kind and cuddly…”

“I’ll… get these right in for you…” the waiter said as he gave the two one last look.

“You didn’t have to-“

“I want to.” He cut her off.

She huffed again, before muttering under her breath. “For someone who just wants to be friends, you sure are trying hard to get back in my bed…”

His face flushed hotly as he looked around in a panic, before looking back at her, muttering himself. “It’s not that-you’re just in a delacate-I wouldn’t want to take-you know-I just-“

She snorted, lowering her sunglasses for a moment to lock magenta to green again. “Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t want a super hot heroine girlfriend with no gag reflex and a submissive streak a mile long…”

Oh she loved the way he just froze up when she gave him that look.

“Not if I end up losing you as a friend…”

Her glasses came back up and her face became almost as red as his. “Stupid smooth and kind and hunky brats, being all helpful and caring and nice…”

There was another companionable silence as they waited for their food- oh Ishino had bought them waters at some point, good, she was dying of thirst…

“So… we’re friends huh…” she said as she sighed. “You’re a strange one Izuku. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone like you..”

“I hope we are…” he said with a rather dower tone. “Friends, I mean…”

She just smiled and shook her head. “You’re the first guy ever to want to be friends with me without trying to get in my pants…”

“I was wearing your pants last- Oh… um… I… um…”

She just smiled. “Such a charmer. Your mom was right.”

She laughed as Izuku went nuclear red and began spouting gibberish with wild hand jestures.

“Oh hey! Midori-kun!”

Her heart froze as the very cute, bubbly, pink teenager ran up and barely stopped in time to prevent herself from bowling him over, instead wrapping his head in her arms and pulling it into her chest:

She was wearing some kind of green one piece that did NOTHING to disguise quite the figure on her, though it was rather modest in the way that the pattens broke up her body lines… her hero license hung on her belt as well… provisional hm?

“Oh my god we were all so worried! Kiri said he saw you leave for the lobby and no one saw you again and then we heard about Sir night eye and- oh… oh! Midori?! Are you…” the pink girls eyes narrowed and her voice dropped out before her eyes widened ahd she let go of Izuku, hopping back as she pointed at him and harshly whispered. “Midori?! Are you on a date?!”

Izuku flushed, his mouth moving but no sound coming out.

“I take it your his classmate? I think I remember you from the festival, acid user, right?” Yu asked, her glasses hiding her twitching eyes. “Is there any reason you’d be surprised he’s on a date?”

“Oh no no nothing like that!” Mina quickly plead down. “Izuku-kun is such a cinnemon roll that- no that’s not what I want to say- he’s great, really!”

Izuku’s blush was insane now.

Yu felt some kind of gratification as she pulled her glasses down, her magenta eyes catching the pink student off guard. “Oh, I’m well aware what a cinnamon roll he is. My name is Yu, and you’re…?”

“M-Mina! Mina Ashido. Oh! I’m the Acid Hero: Pinky!” She says with a blush, before her eyes widened. “Y-You… oh Man! You-You’re… you’re M-M-“

“Maybe I am.” Yu grinned as she returned her sunglasses to the bridge of her nose. “Izuku, is there anything you’d like to add?”

“Uh, yeah, I um… Yu got a pretty serious concussion yesterday during the raid, we were discharged from the hospital together and I kept an eye on her last night since she needed to be woken up every hour in case the swelling got worse overnight.” Izuku explained, watching as Mina’s eyes got even wider.

“Omygodohmygodohmygod! You and Mt lady?!” Her whispered harshly. “Since when?!”

“When what?”

“She’s asking how long youve ‘known’ me, brat.” Yu said, enjoying the floundering.

“I mean, I guess since the sludge villain incident, but it was only yesterday that-“ Izuku’s eyes widened before he looked at Mina, who looked about to explode with excitement.

“I’ll get detail later! Enjoy your date Midori, I’ll let everyone know your in safe hands!” She says before bowing to Yu. “I can’t beleive I got to meet you maam! Have a great day!”

And just like that, Mina was gone, and a the people eyeing them with suspicion slowly went back to their own meals and conversations.

“D-Date?”

“Izuku… you did kinda just tell her we spent last night together and we are currently waiting for our breakfast together…” Yu said with a deadpan. “You’re pretty much the only one who wouldn’t think this was a date… and you paid for my food…”

Izuku blunk.

Then blunk again.

And blunk a third time.

“But I… I didn’t… not that I wouldn’t! I would-if you, but not-“

“So when do you want me to meet your mother? That seems like a big step.” Yu said with a deadpan as her grin could have lit up the night.

“That isn’t- oh my god… I’m on a date with Yu Takeyama…” he blushed as he looked at her like a deer caught in headlights.

“I mean? You are if you want to be, but you’re made it kinda clear you want this to be platonic.” She said with a laugh. “I’m fine either way. I don’t have a friend and I don’t have a boyfriend, you could fill either role.”

His blush somehow doubled.

“Which… which one would you prefer exactly?”

“You are just too fucking cute, brat.”

Pinky: OMGOMGOMG

Creati: Everything ok Mina?

Earjacks: Whats going on?

Froppy: why isn’t Ochoko in this chat?

Pinky: Midori is on a date with Mt. Lady! They Just became official last night after the Raid!!!

Invisagirl: ah. That’s why Ochoko isn’t in this chat… Double bummer!

Creati: Where did you see that article?

Pinky: No article! I just passed them on my patrol at this cute little cafe and she admitted he stayed the night to check on her, since she had a bad concussion!

Froppy: That sounds like something Midori would do for anyone…

Earjacks: I agree with Tsu on this one Mina. Concussions are no joke.

Creati: Not saying I believe it… but why would Izuku be the one to watch over her when she is part of a different agency and lives is a different municipality? Surely Mt. Lady has other people who would do that…

Pinky: EXACTLY! And and and, Izuku said he has known her since the sludge villain incident, and that it was LAST NIGHT THAT- before she cut him off! She also got reaaaal offended when she thought I implied that no one would want to date Midori!

Invisagirl: That’s silly, if it wasn’t for Ochoko, I’d have dragged him on a date by now.

Pinky: Girl same! He’s so adorable and those scarred hands must feel great around my horns…

Invisagirl: Or my neck…

Creati: it’s greatly inappropriate to speak of a classmate in such a way!

Earjacks: Momo, you made an Izuku nestling doll last week… and a Shoto one last month…

Creati: It was a test! He has very difficult to replicate hair!

Froppy: Well Yu-San seems to have her fingers in that difficult to replicate hair…

Creati: Tsu!

Pinky: She seemed pretty mellow when I met her, maybe it was before they went out for brunch?

Creati: MINA!

Invisagirl: So who’s going to tell Ochako? Not it.

Earjacks: not it.

Froppy: I’d rather walk through a desert.

Pinky: oh no way in hell I do! Let’s trick Bakugo into telling her.

Creati: … That probably is the safest option.

Earjacks: He will be fine if she floats him…

Pinky: I’ll text Kiri and ask him to ask Bakugo to do us a solid…

Earjacks: … Kiri huh? Seems Izuku isn’t the only one with a budding relationship.

Pinky: Kyoka no tease-y unless you want me to tell Kaminari.

Earjacks: Very well.

Creati: … Tell Kaminari what, exactly?

Earjacks: VERY WELL I SAID!

Izuku was actually really enjoying the day so far.

After a brunch that was really delicious, Yu had asked him to walk her through a nearby park.

Of course, she was still having balance issues, so more often than not, she was holding onto his arm for balance.

A very loud part of his brain really did enjoy that, despite knowing it wasn’t a Romantic jesture.

Despite how much he was starting to wish these few days would become more permanent, he knew it most likely wouldn’t be. She could be as nice and funny and cute and pretty and beautiful and sexy as she wanted, but he knew that it was probably the concussion. It was really sad that she didn’t have anyone to do this with, and he sure didn’t mind that it was him doing these things with her…

He swallowed harshly as she tugged a bit on him, her hands raising from his elbow to his bicep as she moved just a bit closer, her legs swiping his pants legs every few steps as they strolled though the park.

He sure hoped the walk wasn’t making her symptoms worse. She seemed be needing more and more support as they walked, though she also wasn’t swaying as much anymore, and despite the feeling of a firm yet impossibly soft Something on his tricep, nothing seemed to be wrong.

He took a glance over, seeing her looking around with a soft smile. He couldn’t tell exactly where she was looking with the sun glasses, but that was fine.

‘The park is almost as beautiful as her smile…’

“You mean to say that one out loud?” She asked as she looked up to him, blushing as he blunk a few times, then looked down to her.

“Did I say something?”

“That the park was almost as beautiful as my smile, I think.” She replied, her right hand coming up to pull her sunglasses down a bit. “Most guys complement my eyes you know… what do you think about them?”

They had slowed their pace, now coming to a stop as he looked into her eyes.

What did he think of her eyes?

‘If her smile was this park, then her eyes are a perfect sunset. No you can’t saythat she willthinkyouracreepor-‘

“You know you’re muttering all that, right?” She said with a megawatt smile. “My eyes are like a perfect sunset, huh?”

He just blushed even harder and gave a very narrow nod.

She smiled even brighter.

“Not that I ever want these amazing complements to end…” she said with a teasing smile as she pulled his upper arm very purposely into the space oh so many men wished to experience. “But I’d like to make sure I remember them forever… so make sure you remember to use them again once I’m all better, Kay?”

He blunk a few dozen times. “But once you’re all better, you want need me to do any of this for you…”

“Need and want aren’t exclusive you know…” she said, rather shyly. “You’re making it very hard not to think about this as more than friends Izuku.”

“I’m sorry-“

Her finger cut him off, a soft smile on her face. “Don’t be sorry, Izuku… never be sorry for treating me like I’m worth spending time with… never be sorry for making me feel wanted.”

“Why wouldn’t you be?” He asked, completely dumbfounded.

“Men alot dumber than you… hopefully…” she said, suddenly realizing their eyes hadn’t left each others yet.

“I kinda don’t… understand… how anyone could think you aren’t?” He muttered, his eyes almost looking through her.

He wasn’t looking at her eyes.. he was looking at HER, he was looking through her and looking into her, like he was looking at her soul.

She felt her heels lifting up before she knew to stop, her lips pushing out slightly as she took the plunge, ready to trust someone again.

Ready to love again-

“Easy there!” Izuku’s arm was around her, her face in his shoulder now as he gently held her. “I’m sorry! I noticed your balance was getting worse but I thought it was ok, let’s get back to your apartment.”

“What?” She asked, slowly pulling away from him. “My balance is fine?”

“You just stumbled into me?”

“I… I was going to k-yeah, yeah I guess I did.” She said, her heart at war within her, demanding she try again…

But she knew. She knew that maybe he knew it wasn’t a stumble as well… that maybe he was saving her from the embarrassment of being rejected by a man almost five years younger than her…

But still…

She couldn’t let go of his arm…

She didn’t want this closeness to end…

“Let’s just… Go back to my appartment I guess…” Yu said, moving her glasses up to cover her eyes again, thankful that they kept her unshed tears from shining in the bright afternoon sun.

Stupid stupid Yu. He’s the kindest little hunky bundle of fluff you’ve ever met. Why the fuck would he want anything to do with a trainwreck like you?

“Hey um… do you still want to meet my mom?”

“You really know how to toy with a girls heart Izuku…”

-

Yu moved around the apartment as frantically as she could, trying to clean as Inko Midoriya’s arrival was imminent.

Of course, the third time she lost her balance and Izuku had to spring to catch her before she bounced off the ground, he put a stop to her manic cleaning.

“Yu? Why are you suddenly cleaning so much exactly?”

Yu glared at him. “Your mom is going to see I’m a pig if I don’t.”

“She’s seen worse, trust me.” He deadpanned as he looked around.

Sure, there were dirty clothes everywhere, and a few pizza boxes, but it was fine.

“Just… could you pick up all the clothes for me?” She begged.

Izuku blushed. “I… see a few pairs of underwear and bras…”

“I’ll show you more if you help me clean?”

His blush doubled. “You’re ok with me touching them??”

“So long as you don’t steal one or shoot a load on one, you’ll be the most respectful man to do so since I was a sophomore…” She shrugged. “I did kinda say I’d show you a pair yesterday, didn’t I?”

“Wait you remember that?”

“It was pretty embarrassing at the time…”

“We agreed to forget you said it.”

“… Actions speak louder than words?” She tried, slowly lifting the hem of her shirt.

His head started to bobble as his nose bled slightly, but instead of replying, he activated One for All and quickly picked up everything he could find, dropping them in a hamper he knew was in the bathroom.

She frowned as she took that rejection at face value for a moment, before she shook her head.

Try as she might, she hadn’t gotten any confirmation one way or the other from the Green hero that he did or didn’t want a more physical relationship, and honestly it was starting to make her feel like she was pushing something on him he didn’t want.

She sighed as she shook her head. He was a nearly seventeen year old boy who was very bad at hiding his wandering eyes, but she didn’t WANT someone who only was interested in her physically…

But he did talk to her about everything and anything… he did make her feel like she was being heard instead of just agreed with.

He was nothing like the guys she had shared terrible dinner conversations with and crass attempts to bed her.

He was unlike anyone she had ever met.

She shakily made her way to the small kitchen and dug out a small tea set, hoping she had time to-

*knock knock*

Shit.

She sighed as Izuku appeared beside her, looking both relieved and terrified.

She snorted as she reached over and pulled a blue thong off his shoulder, wriggling it in front of him before she tossed it in her own pocket.

His eyes widened as he started blobbing like a fish out of water.

“You know, I’m told they look even better when I’m wearing them, not so sure I don’t like how they look on your shoulder though.” She giggled, adding a wink, watching him once again go atomic.

*Knock Knock*

She rolled her eyes and moved to open the door, alrwady imagining what the mother of her rather confusing friendship might look like, only it to see- “Well, nice to meet in perso- Holy shit! Mean Nurse Lady?! You’re Izuku’s mom?!”

Inko, freshly fitted in her little pink cardigan and her plated knee length skirt, blunk. “Oh hell no! Mouthy Blonde?! How did you sink your claws in to my baby?!”

“Wait? You two know each other already?”

Notes:

I think that’s a good enough point to end this one for a while. I have a Harry Potter one shot I’m working ion that I might post soonish.

I haven’t decided the next MHA story to post yet, I have a few that will be multiple chapters, including one that I have written on and off for two years. I dislike posting story’s I know I’ll never finish though, and that is certainly one of them.

Thanks to everyone for reading. Hope you all have a great day!
