Work Text:
For Heinrix, this was love: a warm hug at the end of a long day, a lazy arm wrapped around his waist, another curled against his chest. Soft breaths, smiling against his shoulder. Her eyes closed. And her hair, light brown strands glowing amber, shining brighter with the flickering candlelight beside their bed.
This was love: forgetting his duty, Amber forgetting hers, their positions, and who they were. If only in privacy, if only for a few hours. But it was enough. Heinrix could lay the future aside, next to the rosette beneath the candles; this was worth it all.
