Shinichiro wasn't a lolicon.
Seriously, he was just confused because a kid—who happened to be cute and adorable—was always passing by his house.
The kid with messy black hair and clear ocean blue eyes passed by his house almost every day. It wouldn't have been a problem if the kid was just passing by, but the kid innocently snuck through the fence as if Shinichiro didn't know that.
Shinichiro had ever stopped the boy and questioned him, but there was a small possibility that he would run away before Shinichiro even finished his sentence.
In the end, he decided to just let it be. Until now, the boy's routine has never been missed.
"Yo! Shin, I brought your little stalker."
Shinichiro looked up from his motorcycle repairs. His jaw dropped as he saw his friend casually dragging the blue-eyed boy, pulling him by the back of the collar like he was carrying a naughty cat.
"What are you doing?!" Shinichiro screamed.
Oh no, not really. A Sano Shinichiro never screams. He was just too shocked to see his friend carrying something in front of him.
Akashi Takeomi yawned carelessly, not caring about his friend's OOC behavior. His hand actually tightened the grip on the collar of the brat who kept rebelling.
"Let me go! Forgive me! Please sir, I won't be naughty again!" The boy rebelled, trying to free himself from Takeomi's grip.
Out of pity, Shinichiro glared at his friend. Takeomi who understood, released his grip and raised one hand as if surrendering. But before the boy could run away again, Takeomi grabbed his arm.
Seeing Takeomi still holding on to his grip, Shinichiro massaged his temples in exhaustion. “What are you actually doing?”
“I’m tired of hearing your complaints about this kid, so I just dragged him in to ask him directly.” Takeomi shrugged his shoulders softly, not affecting the kid’s sobs.
Unlike Shinichiro who panicked because the child seemed like he was going to cry. In short, his Vice Captain was not stupid, so why did he drag a child so lightly? What if his parents found out about this and accused them both of being con artists? Or worse, pedophiles?
Shinichiro shuddered in fear. He was indeed a respected gang leader, but that didn't mean he was a bastard.
"Please calm down, forgive my friend. He was just acting on his own. I promise, if you calm down, he will let go of your hand."
The boy seemed to understand. His sobs lessened and he no longer struggled. Hesitantly, the boy nodded slowly.
Shinichiro looked at Takeomi. Takeomi, who understood, immediately let go of the boy's arm, but his friend was still on guard in case the boy would run away.
After feeling that the boy had calmed down, Shinichiro asked, "What's your name?"
Even though it was just a whisper, Shinichiro and Takeomi could still hear him. "Hanagaki Takemichi."
"Takemichi..." Shinichiro tried to call his name, his chest felt tight for some reason, but for now, he ignored it.
"Ne...Takemichi, where is your house?" he continued.
"My house is a few blocks from here."
Shinichiro nodded. Okay, now he was confused. Should he ask the kid why he always peeked at his house? But Shinichiro was afraid that the kid would just continue crying.
And the kind friend asked a question calmly. "Why do you always peek at this house?"
Takemichi looked panicked and stopped moving anywhere. "I-I'm only interested in motorcycles."
A good excuse, but unfortunately Takemichi's behavior made it clear that was his only way.
"No need to lie. Just tell me why, I promise I won't get mad." Shinichiro tried to reassure him with a smile.
Takemichi stopped panicking. Shinichiro was dazed because Takemichi's expression suddenly became serious.
"I'll tell you two, but promise me you two will keep this a secret."
Shinichiro admired Takeomi very much. His friend's casual attitude disappeared when Takemichi asked something that seemed serious.
Shinichiro then nodded.
Takemichi sighed. Wait—why can a kid even sigh like he has a heavy burden?
"I have two purposes for peeking at your house. And...my first purpose is to see Manjiro-kun."
Shinichiro blinked. Out of all the possibilities, he never expected this answer. Well...come to think of it, Takemichi had always been peeking into his house—not at Shinichiro.
"Are you a friend of Manjiro?"
Takemichi nodded. "You could say that, but don't tell Manjiro-kun anything."
“Then, what is your second goal?” Takeomi asked.
Takemichi looked hesitant, falling down. “That… I will announce it after seeing Manjiro-kun and the others.”
“The others?” Shinichiro asked reflexively and Takemichi answered silently.
“Yes… Draken-kun, Inupi-kun, Koko-kun, Chifuyu, Baji-kun, and… Izana-kun.”
In short, they were all his younger brother's friends, so Takemichi did want to meet Manjiro and his friends. Although Shinichiro was a bit surprised that Takemichi wanted to meet Izana, even though Izana had only been in the Sano Family for less than a year.
"Alright, I'll introduce you two. You can—"
"No!"
Shinichiro was shocked by the boy's scream. Even Takeomi raised an eyebrow at his rude behavior.
"I-I don't want to meet them, I just want to see them once."
The sad expression on Takemichi's face touched Shinichiro. He didn't know if Takemichi might have a problem with his brother, but it would be very wrong for Shinichiro to refuse the request.
Shinichiro smiled, his hand then stroked the boy's black hair. "Okay, when Manjiro and the others are here, I'll be satisfied."
Takemichi's eyes lit up when he heard that. When he saw him, Shinichiro's heart beat fast. This was also the first time his chest felt warm when seeing someone else look so happy.
Because he was too fascinated, Shinichiro didn't realize that Takeomi had been watching him. His Vice Captain coughed intentionally and brought Shinichiro to his senses.
His face instantly heated up when he was caught openly observing the child who was even the same age as his younger brother. Especially when he saw Takeomi's smirk that was completely mocking.
Damn, Shinichiro would definitely punish his friend later.
"What are your names?" Takemichi asked while freezing his head.
Shinichiro blushed again when he saw the child's cute face, but it seemed like Takeomi had an effect on him this time too.
Shinichiro wet his throat, then answered, "I'm Sano Shinichiro and he's Akashi Takeomi."
Takemichi nodded briefly. "Okay, Sano-san and Akashi-san."
Shinichiro and Takeomi frowned at the formal endings to their names at the same time. They sounded so old when Takemichi added the 'san' suffix to their surnames.
"Err...you don't have to call us formally, just plain is fine." Shinichiro explained carefully, afraid that it would make Takemichi offended.
Thankfully Takemichi seemed okay with it.
"Okay, then I'll call you Shin-nii and Take-nii."
Okay, that didn't sound bad. It was like having an extra brother. He really accepted it because he didn't care about nicknames, he really wasn't affected by the kid's cute smile at all.
But Takeomi wasn't being tsundere. His friend fondly squeezed the kid's puffed cheeks. "Ahh you're such an adorable kid, you're not naughty at all."
Takemichi gave the same smile. Only this time, the smile was specifically for Akashi Takeomi.
Shinichiro grumbled lightly. His stomach churned and his chest heated up. Okay, he couldn't be jealous, right?!
"Then I'll go home first."
Takemichi bowed. After that, he clasped hands and ran away from the Sano Family's house.
After Takemichi was out of sight, Takeomi nudged his shoulder. Shinichiro turned and looked at Takeomi questioningly.
"I didn't know you liked lolis."
Without thinking, Shinichiro elbowed and kicked Takeomi until he fell to the ground. "Just shut up!"
"A big boss turns out to be a lolicon."
"Shut up!"
¡¡
"Good morning, Shinichiro-kun!"
Shinichiro turned his head back. His eyes immediately became critical when he saw a group of boys entering his yard. Since 3 days ago, their class had a tour and they just came home now.
So it was no wonder Takemichi hadn't seen them yet.
"Morning. How was your tour?"
"Not bad, but riding a motorbike is more fun," replied the boy who had greeted him earlier.
The kids there nodded in unison.
Shinichiro sighed. It was partly his fault for telling his little brother the basics of a gang and teaching him self-defense. But in his defense, he did it so that Manjiro could defend himself.
Of course, Shinichiro never expected Manjiro to form a new gang and recruit other kids.
The gang named Tokyo Manji—Toman may be nothing compared to the gang he built—Black Dragon. But Shinichiro is sure that one day Tokyo Manji will compete, even be on par with the gangs that already exist.
Because why? Manjiro was the one who formed it and Shinichiro has complete trust in Manjiro.
"Can I have some milk, Sano-kun?" asked the blond-haired child, one of the children Takemichi was looking for—Matsuno Chifuyu.
"Do you want to grow taller, Chifuyu?" It wasn't Shinichiro who answered, but the boy who first spoke to him—Baji Keisuke.
Hearing the teasing in Keisuke's voice, of course Chifuyu didn't accept it. "I'm already tall! I only like the milk that Sano-kun makes!"
"Eh, but aren't you the one who often makes it yourself? Besides, why do you always drink it here, not at your house? Oh yeah, I forgot, your mother doesn't want you to drink milk!" said another boy with natural blonde hair—Inui Seishu.
Shinichiro winced when he saw Chifuyu blushing. Really, Seishu was usually a quiet kid. But sometimes the kid would come out with opinions that were quite hurtful and completely true.
"At least I don't look feminine!" Chifuyu grinned when she managed to touch Seishu's weak point. It was undeniable, his slender body and pretty cute face made Seishu always the subject of jokes.
"At least Inui isn't short."
Chifuyu wanted to reply, but his mouth snapped shut when he realized who answered him. Kokonoi Hajime stared blankly at Chifuyu who slowly retreated back to his spot.
Well, it was obvious—Chifuyu was quite afraid of the black-haired boy.
"Huh—stop it already...," the boy with mixed yellow and black hair muttered. Suddenly a sharp gaze was directed at him, which meant his muttering was heard.
"Kazutora, did you say something?"
Hanemiya Kazutora raised both of his hands as if surrendering. "Sorry, Draken. Their argument was a bit funny."
Keisuke approached Kazutora and put his arm around his shoulders. "Well what Kazutora said was true, their argument was quite entertaining."
The boy whose real name was Ryuguji Ken snorted. Choosing to ignore the two kids who always seemed to have the same idea.
Shinichiro ignored them. Choosing to tinker with his motorbike rather than listen to their childish argument.
"Nii-san."
Shinichiro stopped what he was doing. He turned his head and looked at Manjiro with a raised eyebrow.
"What do you want this time?" Shinichiro asked. Well... because when Manjiro was polite to him, it meant that his little brother wanted something.
"I want a motorbike." His eyes were immediately detected outside the gate. A pair of blue eyes were peeking into his house again. But this time, those blue eyes were now fully focused on the form of his brother and friends.
Shinichiro returned his focus to his little brother. "Huh? What did you say earlier?"
"I want a motorbike, Nii-san." Manjiro pouted a little because he had to repeat himself.
Shinichiro sighed. "I don't mind teaching you, Manjiro. But you have to wait until you're at least 15, or Grandpa will kill me for teaching you to ride a motorbike."
Manjiro pouted even more when he heard his answer.
"I told you, Mikey. Besides, we're only 10 years old, the police will only catch us if we ride a motorbike."
Shinichiro smiled slightly at the silver-haired boy. Among all the mechanical-minded children, Mitsuya Takashi could be counted on to be a positive thinker.
"Just let him be, we're delinquents, right?" Keisuke's embrace shifted to Takashi.
"Why are you so proud?" Ken stared at Keisuke in disbelief.
"Because delinquents are cool!" Keisuke replied, puffing out his chest.
Shinichiro chose to return to his activities. But—out of the corner of his eye he saw a small smile appear on the uninvited visitor's face.
"That logic is a bit flawed." Hajime chimed in casually.
Keisuke released his embrace and chose to grab Hajime by the collar.
"What did you say?!" Hajime still looked calm, not even seeming to have any intention of fighting back.
"Okay, shut up, you two!" Ken pulled Keisuke's arms from Hajime's collar. Luckily the argument was just childish, so it wasn't anything serious.
Keisuke straightened his clothes. After that, he hugged Hajime and grinned widely. "You're too stiff, Kokonoi. Have some fun once in a while and listen to this first division captain."
Takashi sighed. Tokyo Manji had actually just been formed and only had a few members. The first division captain was just Keisuke's nonsense to sound cool.
Without any difficulty, Hajime pushed Keisuke's arm away. "Technically, Inui and I are members of Black Dragon."
"Eh? Is it official?" Chifuyu tilted his head.
"No. Black Dragon is only allowed to be entered by children who are old enough." Shinichiro got up from his crouch—making an eye signal to Seishu and Hajime.
Seishu pouted when he heard that. His desire to join the Black Dragon gang was very big. He would be very happy to be able to work under the person he had always admired.
Meanwhile, Hajime kept his expression blank. From the beginning, his goal in joining the Black Dragon gang was only to follow Seishu.
"Besides, you're already indirectly members of Toman, so just enjoy it." Kazutora chimed in while patting both of the kids' shoulders.
"Yes, what Kazutora said is right. Until you're old enough, just play with the Toman gang."
Although still looking reluctant, Seishu nodded weakly.
Shinichiro then looked around at the kids in front of him.
"So, that's the only reason you came here?" Shinichiro asked.
Everyone was silent, until Manjiro spoke up. "Where's Izana?"
"Ah...Izana has been playing outside since morning."
Manjiro lowered his head dejectedly when he heard it. Shinichiro expressed his concern by patting Shinichiro's head gently.
Sometimes Shinichiro was confused about what to do. He had done everything to get Izana and Manjiro close. But, it seemed like Izana really didn't want anything to do with Manjiro. The child was very close to him, even Emma and Grandpa had no problem in their closeness.
But why was it so difficult to get Izana and Manjiro closer?
Izana usually always woke up early—they did have breakfast together, but after that the boy would go out—avoiding Manjiro's invitations. And would only come home in the late afternoon if Shinichiro didn't look for him for lunch.
Izana avoided talking to Manjiro as much as possible.
Shinichiro once asked firmly why Izana avoided Manjiro so much, but Izana just kept quiet—didn't want to answer.
In the end, Shinichiro just assumed that Izana was just not used to being in the Sano Family.
"Come on, you guys go play." Shinichiro chased the group of children out of his workshop..
"We're not playing! We're patrolling the streets!" Keisuke argued.
"Right, right, let's continue your patrol and go home in the evening."
Shinichiro sighed, finally the boys left.
"Really like a nanny, huh?"
The jet-black haired teenager turned his head and immediately pouted when he saw Takeomi enter his yard followed by Takemichi.
"Did you see that?"
"Yes, of course. I and this kid were watching you guys at the fence." Takeomi ruffled Takemichi's hair.
Shinichiro rolled his eyes. "That's so stupid. What if Manjiro or the others saw you? They'd get suspicious since you were peeking at your friend's house—instead of just going in like usual."
Takeomi shrugged indifferently. "No one noticed."
Shinichiro, who didn't care anymore, turned his attention to the boy. "So? Do you want to tell me your second goal?"
Takemichi shook his head.
Frowning, Shinichiro wondered if there was a mistake or omission in the first condition? As far as he could remember, Takemichi wanted to see Manjiro and his friend only—oh yeah, Izana was also on the list.
"Izana?"
Takemichi nodded.
"Okay, I'll find Izana and bring him home now. You can wait in the backyard, so you can still see Izana."
Just as Shinichiro was about to leave, his hand was grabbed by Takemichi's small fingers.
"It's okay, I want to talk to Izana-kun."
"Oh? Why all of a sudden? Didn't you say yesterday that you just wanted to see him?" Takeomi asked.
Takemichi lowered his head, his grip on his fingers tightening. "I just remembered that there's something urgent that should be conveyed directly to Izana-kun."
A moment of silence.
"I understand."
Takemichi released his grip on his finger. Shinichiro immediately warmed up his motorbike—then drove away from his house.
Usually Izana would not go far from home, but his little brother always looked happy when riding his motorbike with him. That's why every time he picked up Izana, Shinichiro always rode his motorbike—no matter how close Izana was.
Within 10 minutes, Shinichiro arrived at the soccer field not far from his house. There he found Izana playing in the sand alone.
Shinichiro's heart was touched. At times like this, he always felt like a failure as an older brother. When Manjiro played with his friends and Emma played with her friends, Izana always played alone.
His favorite place was this field. Usually other kids avoided his because of the difference in skin color. Until Shinichiro had to convince his many times that Izana was still cute no matter what he looked like.
Shinichiro approached Izana. When he heard the sound of a motorbike, Izana stopped what she was doing and looked back.
His eyes immediately sparkled happily even though there was also a spark of confusion there.
"Nii-san!"
"Izana." Shinichiro got off his bike, then crouched down to match Izana's height.
"What's up Nii-san? You can't possibly pick me up so early in the morning, right?" he asked.
For some reason, Shinichiro became tense.
"Yeah, you should go home now. There's a kid who wants to talk to you."
Izana frowned. "Are they 'them'?"
"No, the other kids." Shinichiro patted his brother's hair gently. The ones Izana was referring to were Manjiro and his gang.
His brother frowned even more. His reaction was understandable considering Izana had never had any intention of talking to any children.
"Come on, I'll explain the details later."
Izana nodded. Shinichiro helped his brother onto the motorcycle, and they rode off.
