Chapter Text
☆ my baby likes that i look confused all the time, and i like her because she’s got big black bags under her eyes
It was the asscrack of dawn, and Kyoko was shaking Celeste awake. Celeste groaned and threw her blanket over her head, further messing with her already ruffled hair. The sight of Celeste’s natural short, black hair always made Kyoko smile a little. To her, it was a symbol of the trust between them. Maybe she hadn’t totally gotten Celeste to drop that posh accent of hers, but that was alright. They were good.
“Celeste,” Kyoko hissed, lightly smacking her girlfriend's arm.
“OW!” Celeste yelped, wincing away from Kyoko. “What the hell?” she grumbled, finally pushing the blankets away from her and meeting Kyoko’s eyes.
“You’re so cruel,” Celeste sighed. “What is it? It is what, six in the A.M.? Why would you do such a thing?” She gestured to her arm with feigned annoyance.
Kyoko just grinned and pulled up a Pinterest image. In it, a girl had a simple braid, like the one Kyoko typically wore. What was atypical, at least in regard to Kyoko’s usual style, was the overall look. Heavy eyeliner, scene bangs, and dark clothing with chains fastened to pants that Celeste would likely find in a Hot Topic catalogue. She grimaced at the thought.
Kyoko, however, didn’t see Celeste’s look of disapproval. She’d been looking into alternative cultures and styles, knowing that, since Celeste dressed goth, she was likely into the sort of thing. Kyoko knew that Celeste liked Bauhaus and The Cure, which she had listened to and sort of enjoyed. They were mellow like the classical music she would usually listen to, but what really interested her were the heavier sounds of other alt bands like Bring Me the Horizon and PTV. Kyoko enjoyed alt music, and now she wanted to dress the part. She was really excited to be changing her style up so much, as it had stagnated since her early detective days.
Celeste watched her girlfriend absolutely light up as she gushed about her new favorite bands and how cool emo and scene styles were. Celeste couldn’t help but grin at Kyoko’s excitement and the pure joy on her face.
“Anyway, I want you to help me dress more alternative,” she requested, a now shy smile on her face. She wasn’t sure how Celeste would react, fearing that she would view Kyoko’s efforts as tacky or embarrassing.
“Meine frau, I can tell that you are already overthinking things. I would love nothing more, you know how much I love styling you. I wish you could have asked me a few hours later, though,” Celeste added quietly with a quirked lip.
“Thank you!” Kyoko all but squealed, pulling Celeste into a hug. Celeste trapped her into her embrace in return, snuggling Kyoko against her chest. She slyly pulled the blankets back over the two of them.
“What’re you up to there, ma’am?” Kyoko asked in a mockingly accusative tone.
“Cannot get anything by you, can I, detective?” Celeste muttered. “Whatever! We are cuddling for the next ten to fifteen minutes, and there is nothing you can do about it.”
Kyoko sighed and relaxed into Celeste’s embrace. To her annoyance, she found Celeste sleeping soundly in mere minutes. She thought better of waking her up again, and simply breathed in, deciding to enjoy the rare moment of peace between the couple. They both had such busy lives, it was a rarity to see Celeste so relaxed and calm. She thought happily of what the day would bring, and allowed herself to drift to sleep, as well.
