Chapter 1: The Garden

Chapter Text

“One gloomy night in the middle of a forbidden Garden they stand staring at each other, hate evident in their eyes. This face off between the two has been going on for centuries. No one and nothing can stop them.

The wind howls and the trees provide little cover for the raging storm, a byproduct of their anger. The trees are ripped from the ground, the roots blowing around as they fly. Grass is torn from the earth. The once lush and beautiful Garden reduced to a heap of fallen trees, torn grass and miserable creatures.

Even the mighty wolves and sly fox’es cower in their dens afraid of what might become of them if they dare venture out into the inferno of anger outside.

The snakes stare on in anguish they cannot be stopped. An X appears in the sky above them. A sign for which they have hurt such a pivotal palace for animals and greenery. They are outcasts being banished from the Garden. A place they once called ‘home’ but no longer are able to reside.

At one point they lived together with brothers, friends, family, they are their own kin and yet they do this to one another.

The hate they have stems from one thinking he is better than the other. The animals they live here are not allowed to think in such a manner when inside the Garden. In here even the Bear bows to the mice. Such is the way if you want to stay here. If you leave you can hurt anyone if you wish, with no consequence. But if you do so inside the price you will pay will be that of banishment.

That’s why both are here now. Banished and forgotten, but they have dreams, big ones. The snake on the left wants to become the most beautiful of them all. The snake on the right wants himself to rule over all they live in the Garden.

All at once the storm stops, all falls silent. Any noise that might be playing at the moment falls on deaf ears. The snakes stop their awful banter and look up. The other animals and plants also raise their heads to the sky. Playing above them is the most brilliant red moon that has shown for the last nine eons. A voice calls out to the snakes

“for what is the meaning of this?” it asked. The snakes call out in response

“we cannot come to a civil agreement so we resorted to violence we are deeply ashamed”. The snakes then hang their heads

“You destroyed my beautiful Garden for what? For a disagreement? You two were banished. Was that not enough? You do not understand. You must leave now and never return… all of you” the animals shutter in fear. These two snakes have ruined the Garden for their displeasure. And now all have to suffer the consequences.

“My lady, for why should we all leave if only these two were fighting?” asked an elder elk. He had been living here since his boyhood.

“Because with all this destruction I'm afraid it will take decades to rebuild. I am truly sorry my child” the elk bowed down and nodded

“Alright everyone let's pack it up and leave. You all heard the lady”.

The rest of the animals nodded and packed their things as they headed for the entrance to the Garden, or what was once their beloved garden. Once everyone was gone only the snakes remained, they still hung their heads

“As for you two you shall die for what you have done, do you understand me?” the voice asked them. They nodded. A flash of light beamed down from the moon and all at once the snakes were turned to stone. Now forever a decoration for the Garden they destroyed on their search for greatness they will never achieve”.

“And now you my dear must go to sleep, that story was longer than I thought it would be” “but Papa what ever happened to the Garden?” “they say to this day no one has ever found the Garden''

“But one day I will return”
