Till death do us part- shadowrecluse

Summary:

Pure vanilla cookie (after being corrupted into truthless recluse) decides to devote his life to shadow milk cookie, who is absolutely delighted to have a partner in crime.

With truthless believing his friends have been killed and white lily cookie is gone for good, what else is there to live for, other than the very man he's soul bound to?

Notes:

Shadow milk cookie and truthless recluse will more often than not have their names shortened to "truthless" and "shadow/shadow milk" :-)

They're humans/humanoid but still will be referred to as cookies because I can

I don't have a clue how to lay things out so please don't mention the awful formating, I'm much more focused on the actual writing k bye

Chapter 1: The spire

Chapter Text

"Is this it? Is this how everything ends?"

Pure vanilla cookie- no, truthless recluse, stared up at the ceiling, back against the black carpeted floor of the room he'd been assigned within the spire. Everything was all black and blue in here.

He looked down to his robes, they too were mixes of navy blue, black and gold. He would have found them almost likeable if he could still feel emotions like he used to. His soul jam still sat in the centre of his chest. He'd never seen it so dull. The light of truth didn't speak to him, not anymore. If it did, he wouldn't listen anyway.

Truthless hated shadow milk cookie. Granted, he hated everything. But it was Shadow he hated the most. He'd broken the cookie of truth into a cookie of deceit, a copy, a mirror image.

Pure vanilla cookie was gone. That was one thing that was for sure. At least Truthless had one thing that he was certain about, nothing was definite in the spire of deceit.

At the moment, Shadow spent his days barging into Truthless' room, before dragging him along to talk about his plans to take over all of earthbread. Beast yeast was already under the control of the beast cookies, and with the way things were going, crispia might be next. Although, truthless had no idea what had became of his old friends, the other ancient hero's. They were strong. He was sure they hadn't became lap dogs to the corrupted half of their soul jam.

God, it was pathetic, the situation Truthless had gotten into.

His racing, self loathing thoughts were interrupted by his door being thrown open by a loud, obnoxious cookie that waltzed right in unannounced, bending slightly to look down at Truthless laying on the floor.
"Well, well, well! If it isn't my favourite toy!"
Shadow sung, smiling at the man below him. Truthless scowled in response.
"Hello... Shadow milk cookie."
He answered through gritted teeth.
Shadow clicked his tongue in mock sympathy.
"Awe, what ails you, my poor, pathetic little puppet? Is the loss of your beloved light of truth just tearing you apart? Is it?"

He held a hand out to Truthless, which he hesitated before grabbing. Shadow pulled him to his feet, grinning as they looked eachother in the eyes.
"Are you ready to start the day? Ready to spread some deceit?"
He asked excitedly, Truthless gave one nod. Shadow's eyes lit up with joy.
"Well then, let's head to the meeting room... shall we?"

He dragged the other man by his hand, and soon they were in the "meeting room". Which in reality was two chairs and a table, with a map of earthbread laid out, scribbled on by shadow milk cookie.
Both men sat down, Truthless rested his head in his hands, already wishing he could have slept for longer.

"Boy, have I got some interesting plans for our next moves to take over earthbread, and change life as everyone knows it!"
Truthless sighed to himself.
"You say that everytime..."
He mumbled, messing with the stitches on the ends of his sleeves, completely uninterested in the plans.
"My sweet other half, you know it's rude to be saying things under your breath while someone's talking!"
He shook his head in disapproval.
"We've been over this before, now haven't we?"
If Truthless still had any strength or spirit in him, he would have uppercutted this guy by now. For now he listened to Shadow's insane plans to dominate earthbread and spread deceit to all... or something along those lines.

Once it was all done, Truthless wasted no time in getting up and turning to leave, already wondering how to spend the rest of the day.

(Well, a "day" isn't exactly the right term, he realised, especially since time and space overlapped eachother, they were all over the place in the spire of deceit. A "day" wasn't really a thing, but there did seem to be a cycle of dark and light, so Truthless called them daytime and nighttime just for a little bit of familiarity.)

Shadow looked almost sad at him leaving, probably because he wouldn't be able to mess with him anymore. Truthless headed off to his room, not speaking another word. He knew he'd spend the rest of the day laying on the floor and staring at the ceiling, wondering where it all went wrong.
