Restrained by Light

Summary:

Shadow Milk floated once more, trying to go through again. Something completely solid was in his way. Was it an invisible wall of sorts?

Whatever this stupid obstacle was, it prevented him from leaving. No matter. He can just float over it.

…he could NOT, in fact, float over it, as there was some kind of invisible wall there too.

(Plot is a bit inspired by Jambound!)

In short: Shadow Milk is trapped in the Pure Vanilla Kingdom and cannot leave.

Chapter 1

Notes:

this chapter is much shorter than the others, i promise they get longer! it serves more as a prologue rather than an actual chapter

Chapter Text

A light, a flash, and darkness. That’s all Shadow Milk remembered.

“Ugh…” The beast cookie sat up, raising a hand to his temple. “My head…” He knew that the throbbing pain in his head should be the least of his concerns, considering he was in the middle of nowhere.

Finally, Shadow Milk’s vision became less blurry as he blinked a few times. Everything was… disgustingly bright and yellow. He could hear birds singing, and it made him want to rip his ears out. Shadow Milk knew exactly where he was.

This was the Vanilla Kingdom.

From where he was standing, he got the perfect view of Vanillian citizens pushing past eachother. Some looking for their children who got lost in the crowd, others simply wanting a good bargain as they bidded for artifacts. It was clearly a busy day in the markets.

Shadow Milk didn’t know why he was here, but he definitely knew he had to leave. He hovered off of the ground. “Yuck. So long, pesky kingdom!” But… something was wrong.

Very wrong.

As he was about to walk through the archway, he crashed into something and fell. “Hey, watch where you’re—!”

There was no cookie there. Maybe he just tripped?

Shadow Milk floated once more, trying to go through again. Something completely solid was in his way. Was it an invisible wall of sorts?

Whatever this stupid obstacle was, it prevented him from leaving. No matter. He can just float over it.

…he could NOT, in fact, float over it, as there was some kind of invisible wall there too.

He could feel his eye twitch as he growled.

This was going to be handled the hard way, then! Shadow Milk flew into the wall at full force, but rather than this mysterious barricade breaking, he’d flung the opposite direction and landed on his back.

“Ugh! Of course!” Shadow Milk scoffed. “Of all places it’s gotta be… here!!!”

He knew someone cursed him. But Pure Vanilla didn’t use dark magic, he knew that for a fact…

Then who?
