What is That Home I Seek

Summary:

Arashi helps Adonis figure out how to confess to his crushes. She really hopes that she isn’t burdening Tetora that much by dragging him along for the ride…

A complementary fic that occurs at the same time as Love is What Makes a Home (this fic would probably make more sense if you've already read that fic)

Notes:

If it wasn't obvious from the summary, it does take place at the same time as another fic I've written… two years ago >.>
Love is What Makes a Home
It was really interesting to write about the scenes that I've always imagined happening in the section breaks, so I hope everyone reading this finds it somewhat enjoyable at the very least :')

Much love to prjctyves for all the support as always <3333

Work Text:

“…Narukami?”

“Yes, Adonis-chan? ♪”

“What exactly are we doing?” Adonis glanced around the ES hallway like a lost child as the two strolled to their destination.

Arashi winked reassuringly. “Taking notes!”

Adonis… did not look reassured. “On…?”

“How to take someone out on a date, duh!”

“Did you not just demonstrate that with Nagumo?”

Arashi covered her flushed face and screamed into her hands before quickly composing herself, and then she playfully wagged her index finger at Adonis. “No, silly! That was how to ask someone out! Now, we have to get to the actual taking out part! And I know just the guys that can help out!” If she remembered his schedule correctly, then around this time…

“Arashi-san, what a pleasant surprise.” As the two entered the lounge, Kazehaya waved them over from the table attached to the back of the sofa, where he was seated next to a familiar blue-haired idol. “We have two more seats here. Feel free to make yourselves comfortable.”

HiMERU scoffed. “Did you even consider asking if they were available? If they are occupied, then you inadvertently imparted guilt on them as they would need to decline your invitation. Try reflecting on that.”

“Of course.” Kazehaya smiled fondly. “You’re always so considerate of others, HiMERU-san.”

The other Reimei idol somehow looked even more disgruntled after that statement.

“I believe I see what you mean, Narukami,” Adonis whispered.

“Riiiight~?” Arashi giggled as she took the seat left of HiMERU, gesturing for her partner-in-crime to take the final seat to her left. “Kazehaya-senpai, HiMERU-chan, you two are exactly what we need for our upcoming operation.”

“Of course,” Kazehaya easily agreed. “What can we do?”

HiMERU suspiciously raised an eyebrow. “For what?”

“We need someone who can tell Adonis-chan all about how to take someone out on a date, and I have a feeling you two would be perfect!”

HiMERU’s expression immediately turned blank.

“Oh?” Kazehaya chuckled. “What makes you so sure that we would be a good choice for this? I’m afraid that I’ve never… Ah, well, I suppose that depends on what can be considered a date.”

Arashi exchanged a confused glance with Adonis before clearing her throat. “That’s… really surprising. With how much tension there was between the two of you, I was sure that you had at least reached second ba—”

“N-Narukami-san,” HiMERU garbled out in a strained gasp.

“Sorry to bother you two… I guess I should go look for anyone else I know…”

“Hold on.” Kazehaya put a hand on HiMERU’s shoulder, eliciting another strangled gasp. “HiMERU-san, we can help them, can’t we? Recall the project that we’re scheduled to work on in a couple of months with the rest of ALKALOID and Crazy:B. Maybe this would be useful practice for that. We don’t know exactly what the producer will be asking of us, after all.”

HiMERU glared at his lap.

Arashi giggled nervously. “I-It’s okay, HiMERU-chan. You don’t have to—”

No.” HiMERU straightened his posture with a deep breath. “HiMERU would be delighted to aid you in your… endeavors, regardless of the pain he must endure.”

“I really hope you’re being dramatic…” Arashi mumbled. “Anywho! Adonis-chan! Get ready!”

The rock idol startled at all the sudden focus on him, eyes wide with confusion. “Um… what?”

“Tomorrow. Prepare yourself for a practice date! I’ll send all the details by tonight! You guys are free tomorrow, right?”

Kazehaya and Adonis nodded.

HiMERU tilted his head in thought before also nodding. “HiMERU technically has plans… but he wants no part in what Amagi has planned for a ‘surprise Crazy:B outing’.”

“’Kay, sounds good!” Arashi could barely contain her excitement as she threw several date ideas at the three strangely intimidated men.

Arashi’s legs swung back-and-forth as she not-so-subtly admired her boyfriend’s short night workout from her bed… Boyfriend… She pursed her lips to avoid squealing. “Tetora-kuuuun~♪”

Said boyfriend’s cheeks tinted pink at the sound of his name, fumbling a bit with the weight he was holding. “Y-Yeah, Narukami-senpai?”

“Get ready for an outing tomorrow! Make sure to be decently dressed!”

“That soon!?”

“Hm?”

Tetora huffed. “I-I mean, of course! A man must always be prepared for anything! I’ll be ready!”

HiMERU entered their shared dorm. “HiMERU presumes you told him?”

“Eh? You’ll be there too, HiMERU-san?”

“Unfortunately, yes. Tatsumi and I will also be there as a joint date.”

Tetora worriedly turned to Arashi, mouthing at her as he pointed toward their roommate.

“You do realize HiMERU is standing in front of you two, do you not? He is not blind. And to answer your question, no, HiMERU is not being held there against his will.”

Tetora slowly nodded, obviously not believing HiMERU at all.

“We’re here!” Arashi announced to the four other idols, grandly gesturing to the entrance. “Trust me, guys. This Western restaurant is known for having some pretty good food. I’ve been here with the Pretty 5 recently too.”

Adonis nodded. “I have been here as well with the rest of UNDEAD. The pancakes are delicious. Did you try them, Narukami?”

“W-Well…” The jasmine knight giggled bashfully. “We didn’t exactly come here to eat… More like… to stop a marriage…”

Adonis frowned. “Odd. That is the opposite of what we did.”

“HUH!? What kinda messes are ya guys getting mixed up in!?”

“Anyway!” Arashi drew everyone’s attention back to her. “We’re going to start ‘Operation: Get Adonis-chan Familiar with How a Date Works Because He Has Absolutely No Idea What a Date Looks Like and I Don’t Want Him to Prematurely Freak Out’.”

“…Can you repeat that?” Adonis asked. “I do not believe I caught all—”

“So,” Arashi continued without a pause to catch her breath. “For this practice session, we’ll act like HiMERU-chan and Kazehaya-senpai are on a double date with Adonis-chan and Tetora-kun. I’ll be helping to coach Adonis-chan during the date, but mostly, I’ll just be watching to see how you do and give pointers afterwards. Think of this as a very low stress activity!”

Tetora frowned. “So, this outing was for me to go on a practice date with Otogari-senpai…? I think I misunderstood what you told me, Narukami-senpai… I thought you and I…”

Arashi gasped. “O-OH! Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, Tetora-kun! That was my fault! Um, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, you know! I just thought you’re more like Koga-chan and Souma-chan, so it’d be more like the real thing, and, and…” She clasped her hands together and bowed her head. “Gosh, it totally seems like I led you on!”

“No, it’s okay.” Tetora offered a small smile. “I wouldn’t mind helping my senior out with… Wait, did you say Oogami-senpai and Kanzaki-senpai!? Since when!? How did I not notice!?”

Adonis winced.

A mortified Arashi felt her face flush. “Oh my gosh, Adonis-chan—”

“No need to worry, Narukami. It was not as if I was trying to hide it anyway,” Adonis reassured her.

“R-Right…”

HiMERU pointedly coughed. “Can we please stop loitering in front of this establishment like a band of hooligans? Save this drama for when we’re seated.”

Kazehaya chuckled. “I was thinking along the same lines, though perhaps I wouldn’t say it the same way. We’re probably blocking the way in.”

“Right!” Arashi steeled her resolve. They were off to a bit of a bumpy start, but that was okay. This plan would definitely be a success!

“Narukami-senpai!” Tetora pulled out a chair, gesturing for his girlfriend to take it.

“Thanks, Tetora-kun!” Arashi giggled, delicately lowering onto the seat. “But you should really be focused on Adonis-chan, shouldn’t you~?”

“A-Ack…!”

“Here, Nagumo.” With a kind smile, Adonis pulled out another chair for Tetora.

“Perfect, Adonis-chan!” Arashi squealed. “You’ll definitely have wooed them by the end of this!”

Tetora almost looked like he wanted to say something, but he just sat down and smiled at his senior. “Thanks, Otogari-senpai.”

“Aren’t you going to pull out a seat for me, HiMERU-san~?” Kazehaya teased.

“You have working arms and legs, do you not? Sit.” But HiMERU did pull out a seat… for himself.

Arashi distinctly wondered if those two were going to be okay. Although, judging from the way Kazehaya took everything in stride, she supposed that might’ve just been their normal dynamic. They definitely seemed like the type that would get very adventurous.

“Otogari-senpai, ya recommended the pancakes, right? Then I’ll definitely be getting those!”

“Same here ♪” Arashi agreed. “Though I can’t have too many. It’s important to maintain my figure!”

“I think you’d be beautiful no matter what…” Tetora mumbled.

Tetora-kun is too pure! “T-Thank you…”

“Narukami, are you okay?” Adonis concernedly put the back of his hand to her forehead. “Were you careful not to catch a fever? You seem to be heating u—”

“I-I’m fine! Focus on the practice date!”

“Right.” Adonis took the seat across from Tetora and stared. “Um. What should we talk about?”

Tetora flushed. “I… don’t know! Maybe HiMERU-san and Kazehaya-senpai can show us…” The pair turned to the other pair, one with a smile on his face and the other with his hands balled into fists.

“Your eyes are gorgeous.”

Die.”

Adonis sighed. “I may have no experience with dating, but I feel like I should avoid following that behavior as much as possible.”

Arashi smirked to herself. Looks like I’m the one with all the now-how. Time to help some emotionally stunted men. “You two should just speak like you normally do, you know?”

“Like… normal?” Adonis asked, looking at Tetora, who only looked equally confused.

“Of course! Why should you enter a relationship with someone? Because you like that person for who they are, right? If you enjoy spending time with that person, then isn’t it that simple?” Arashi tutted. “Not that you can’t have super romantic outings planned, but casually, you would mostly want to just enjoy the other person’s presence as if you were hanging out with a friend.”

“You are always so wise, Narukami.”

“Pfft, aw shucks! Thanks, Adonis-chan!”

“’Kay, then it’s decided!” Tetora’s eyes glimmered with excitement. “Otogari-senpai, I added a little somethin’ into my workout routine, and I wanted to know if…”

Okay. Well. Arashi probably should’ve expected that Adonis and Tetora would only be talking about things related to working out and getting stronger. She could practically feel herself start sweating from it all. The only part she really tuned in to was about BUTOUKAI since that was related to staging and idol work, but for the most part, she was enjoying watching Kazehaya and HiMERU trade remarks, one side far more affectionate than the other. Arashi didn’t know if she could say whether it was hilarious or pathetic. Regardless, when the five of them left the restaurant, she was confident that she’d assuaged all of Adonis’ fears.

“That… was much easier than I thought it would be.” Adonis smiled proudly. “I… I think I can do this. Thank you, Narukami. Your advice was useful… Ah. I should go take care of those two before it escalates.” He didn’t need to say who to figure out which two people started bickering one-sidedly in the background.

“Did you enjoy yourself, Tetora-kun?”

“Uh— Huh!? Oh. Yeah.” Tetora huffed. “It was nice to catch up with Otogari-senpai. It’s been a while since we last talked to each other.”

Arashi self-consciously folded her arms. “…Um, is something on your mind?”

“What do you mean…?”

“Never mind, it’s nothing.” It’s probably just my imagination… I can’t lose focus on the real goal here! Adonis-chan’s happiness! “Do you want to pick out some flowers with me?”

Tetora’s expression brightened into that familiar adorable eagerness. “Really?”

“Of course! Don’t you think Koga-chan and Souma-chan would enjoy getting those from Adonis-chan?”

“Ah. Right.” The martial artist’s vigor dampened slightly.

There it is again… “It’s okay to let me know if I’m bothering you by asking for your help. I don’t want to force you anything you’re not comfortable with!”

“It’s not…” Tetora smiled almost wearily. “I’ll always want to help you, Narukami-senpai. Feel free to count on me for whatever you need. Man’s honor.”

Arashi squeezed her boyfriend tightly in her arms. “Thankyouthankyouthankyou, Tetora-kun! You’re the best.” Her heart melted as she felt her embrace get returned.

“…Anything for you.”

“It seems God keeps putting us on overlapping tracks,” Kazehaya mused. “I assume you require more assistance from me?”

“Yes! We need flowers!” Arashi begged. “We’d like to wow Koga-chan and Souma-chan!”

“There are only so many flowers we have in this garden, but feel free to take whatever Gardenia has to offer. Ah, but please do let me know so I can safely remove the flowers myself.”

“Of course.” With a determined expression, Arashi turned to her two companions. “Adonis-chan, Tetora-kun. Let’s start looking through these flowers!”

Adonis hummed in thought as he took note of their options. “Oogami has a pollen allergy, so it would probably be better to only give him a small bouquet. I doubt Kanzaki-senpai would want something grand either.”

Kazehaya chuckled. “You know them well. We should avoid the chamomile and daisies in that case. Low pollen and romantic flowers such as roses and tulips would be a good idea, most likely. Would a few blue irises work well in the bouquet as well? Hmm… I do know from gardening with Koga-san that he’s especially fond of silver. Perhaps some of the paler flowers would appeal to him. I’m not sure as to what Souma-san would prefer though…”

“Kanzaki-kun too, huh~? Mind if I help too?”

Tetora immediately darted to the source of the voice. “Aniki!”

Shiina dodged the tackle from the younger boy, continuing his stroll to the rest of the idols. “I came here to pick up some ingredients for Niki’s Kitchen, but I can help! For one of our dishes, we had to decorate a pastry, and Kanzaki-kun asked me if he could put flowers on the plate! So, I kinda got an idea of what aesthetics he likes.”

“Give me the instructions, Aniki!” Tetora interjected. “I’ll help you look for flowers that match!”

A bead of sweat formed on the chef’s forehead. “I guess I won’t hafta worry about ya burning the kitchen down or anything this time… ‘Kay, I’ll accept your help, Tetora-kun. Let’s go ♪”

“Right! Uh, Narukami-senpai, are you gonna come with…?”

“No, I’ll be sticking here to pick out flowers for Koga-chan.” Arashi waved her boyfriend away. “Have fun with Shiina-senpai, alright?”

“…Okay.” Tetora ran off to his self-proclaimed big brother, excitedly yelling at a million words a minute.

Adonis frowned concernedly. “I know that you want to help me out, Narukami, but you should still feel free to spend time with your boyfriend.”

“It’s… fine, Adonis-chan.” Arashi sighed. “If I’m being honest, I think I’m being a bit too overbearing right now.”

“How so?” Kazehaya asked with a patient smile. “If you’re comfortable with sharing, of course.”

I don’t want to burden them with my feelings, but… Should I…? No, I can’t just rely on myself all the time! Remember the Tanabata Festival… “Even though Tetora-kun says he doesn’t mind helping me, I can still tell something’s off. I can’t tell if I’m just imagining it, but it feels like every once in a while, the mood takes a dip, but it’s gone by the time I sense it. I keep reminding Tetora-kun that he doesn’t need to help me out, but he keeps insisting…”

“Ah, the difficulty of reading one another’s feelings. Such is the folly of man.”

Adonis sighed. “I… do not have much experience with this kind of problem. I am sorry, Narukami. I usually go to you for this sort of advice, as you can see.” He gestured to the flower beds.

“Kazehaya-senpai?”

“I can see the worry in your eyes, Arashi-san. If Tetora-san is unwilling to speak, I’m afraid there is no way to force the answer out of him. I believe you are making the right call by not pushing too much while trying to be aware of his feelings. You may confront him later about this issue, and there, you can confide in him how you feel about the situation. Your feelings matter too, and I think Tetora-san would consider that when approaching the issue.”

“…Wow. You should make a confessional booth.”

“I already have, Arashi-san ♪”

Somehow, the pond ended up being set on fire, but Tetora insisted he had nothing to do with it.

…Shiina didn’t believe him.

“Narukami-senp— Uh, where are you going?”

“Huh?” Arashi shrugged on her autumn-winter coat. “Oh! Today is the day that Adonis-chan is planning to confess to Souma-chan and Koga-chan! I can’t help but want to be there for that momentous occasion!”

“…”

“…Tetora-kun?”

“…”

“Are you okay…?”

“…Why did you ask me out?”

“H-Huh? What do you mean? Shouldn’t it be obvious?”

“…”

Arashi took a cautious step toward her boyfriend. “…Tetora-kun?”

“You…”

“Me…?”

“Do you remember what you said to me when you asked me out?”

“Um…”

“Do you?”

“…No. I’m sorry, Tetora-kun. I was so preoccupied—”

“You told me that you’d give the details for our date that same night.”

“…”

“So, when that night you told me we were going out the next day… Getting hit with having to go on a practice date with someone else was hard to swallow…”

“Tetora-kun…”

“I know you didn’t do it on purpose. That isn’t like you at all… But… I guess I couldn’t help but wonder how much you liked me. I know it’s stupid, but you never mentioned our date plan after that! Not the day of, or the day after, or yesterday… Did you just forget!?”

“…”

“And then I couldn’t stop about thinking about why you would ask me out while you were so busy helping out Otogari-senpai.”

“I-I…”

“Did you just ask me out as an example for him?”

“…”

Tetora’s eyes watered, face lowering to the floor. “I’m sorry, this isn’t very manly of me. I…” Without warning, he ran to the door.

“T-Tetora-kun!” Arashi reached out, her fingers grazing the edge of his sleeve. “You…!” She quickly rushed for the recently slammed door. As she swung it open, she glanced down both ends of the hallway and listened out for the telltale echo of hurried footsteps. “How did he… No.” Arashi looked down to see a pair of unworn sneakers. “Damn it…”

“Narukami!” Adonis sprinted over to Arashi so quickly that the nearby passersby jumped out of his way. “T-They said ‘yes’…!” An uncharacteristically large grin had spread across his face, one that Arashi couldn’t help but return a small smile to. His grin faded as he seemed to realize something was off. “Narukami…?”

Arashi’s lip quivered, and before she knew it— “I saw something was up, but I read the signs wrong! I was trying to give him distance because I thought I was being overbearing, but that was the exact opposite of what he needed! Now he thinks my feelings are shallow because it looks like I just kept brushing him off! And maybe that really is what I was doing this entire time! This is all my fault! I’m the worst girlfriend in the entirety of ES! Even Tenshouin-senpai would be laughing at me! How could I be such an idiot!? If I could’ve just—”

“Narukami.” Adonis firmly placed his hands on Arashi’s shoulders. “Please. Slow down. What happened? …I may not be the best at feelings, but I will always be willing to listen. And we should go into one of the empty meeting rooms instead of staying out here in the ES hallways.”

…And so, Arashi vented. The last couple days of doubting herself, ignoring the signs, reading the signs wrong… She sniffled into Adonis’ shoulder, going on for as long as possible without taking a breath, only stopping for a moment once the lack of oxygen caught up to her. By the end, she was panting for breath, and she apologized profusely for Adonis’ wettened shirt.

Adonis, ever the patient, kind-hearted soul, pulled his mess of a friend into an embrace that Arashi didn’t even realize she needed. “We should go.”

“H-Huh?”

Adonis smiled comfortingly. “If you tell Nagumo everything you told me, I’m sure your feelings will reach him, just like how they touched me.”

“I… probably look like a mess.” Arashi giggled. “Goodness, things can never stay peaceful for long around ES, can they?”

“Do you have any idea as to where Nagumo would go?”

“He left his shoes behind, so I’m pretty sure he didn’t go outside. Socks aren’t good for cold, hard pavement. Tetora-kun isn’t that stupid. But… I’ve been running through the halls for a while, checking inside dance rooms and stairwells… I tried asking some of our friends I’ve run into to keep an eye out for him, but they haven’t seen anything, and he isn’t responding to any of his texts either. HiMERU-chan is staying at our dorm in case Tetora-kun tries to return.”

“Then… maybe he is outside?”

“But I just said… Why would Tetora-kun do something like that!? He can’t be that desperate to get away, can he!?”

Adonis shook his head. “What I meant was… instead of being inside the building, he could be on the rooftop or in the Sky Garden. That way, he would still be in ES.”

“…You’re right. Let’s split up.”

“I will go to the rooftop. It is much higher up. You should go to the Sky Garden.”

“Right!” Tetora-kun, just wait a little longer… I’ll be there…!

“So, this is where you’ve been this whole time, huh?” Arashi puffed up her cheeks. “You gave us a whole lot of trouble looking for you, you know~? It’s already evening!”

Tetora looked up at her from where he was curled up behind a bush, and he giggled wetly. “Sorry, Narukami-senpai. I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

The fatigue of exertion finally watching up to her, Arashi sighed exhaustedly and sat down next to her boyfriend. “I need to make up my promise to you first. I was so caught up in my selfishness that I acted carelessly. I hurt you without realizing it, and by doing that, I hurt you even more. I’m sorry, Tetora-kun.”

Tetora adamantly shook his head. “I should be the one apologizing, Narukami-senpai. If I'd just communicated instead of bottling up all my feelings, I wouldn’t have blown up at ya. Letting my insecurities get to me wasn’t very manly… And… I’m sorry for running away. I just needed to cool down before I said anything else I’d regret.”

“…Thanks, Tetora-kun. But…”

“Huh…?”

“Allow me to properly make it up to you!” Arashi slowly reached for Tetora’s hand, intertwining their fingers when he didn’t shy away from the touch. “A date, tomorrow. A real date.”

Tetora’s eyes finally sparked with the familiar blaze of passion that always burned in them. “A real one?”

“Yeah. With just the two of us ♪ Do you think you’re up for it?”

“Y-Yeah! Yeah! Let’s do it!” Tetora grinned. “I can’t wait!” He jumped up and pumped his fists. “Ossu~!”

“Let’s go back for now, okay? Your socks are filthy, and it’s cold out here! I hope you didn’t catch a cold…”

“You’ll nurse me back to health if I do, right, Narukami-senpai?” Tetora delivered one of his signature heart-stopping grins.

“Y-Yeah. Anything for you…” We still have a lot to talk about, but that can wait until our date. I’m already drained after everything that happened today… For now, I’m just happy the both of us can be together like this.

“You seem to be in much better spirits, Narukami.” Adonis’s eyes fixed onto the sky, the clouds looking easier to reach than ever before.

“How could I not be, Adonis-chan!?” Arashi squealed.

“I mean, really. Moreso than usual.” Adonis continued to gaze out the window of the Ferris Wheel as it made a temporary stop at the top. He squinted in concentration for a few seconds before his face bloomed into a soft smile. “I can see Kanzaki’s hair, even from up here.”

Arashi pinpointed the gorgeous stream of purple hair weaving through the crowd. “Then I’m guessing that’s Koga-chan, Tetora-kun, and Mitsuru-chan running around him. They look so tiny and cute from up here! …Not that they aren’t normally cute,” she added with a giggle.

“Did your feelings reach him? You only told me about the fun parts of your date last time before we were interrupted.”

“…Yeah.” The knight smiled melancholically. “I told him about everything I was feeling and everything that happened, and he promised to try to communicate with me more not just for himself, but for me too. In the end, I think I ended up causing him more trouble. I had to stop him from going into dogeza in public! Can you believe him!? Though… his genuine heart is something I’ve always liked about him…” She huffed. “Seriously, Adonis-chan! I’m supposed to be the one with all the relationship and emotional knowledge, and yet things went way smoother on your end! Have you been a secretly smooth Casanova this whole time~?”

“I only was able to do it with your instruction, Narukami.”

“You’re also too honest, Adonis-chan! Gah! Banter is so difficult with you sometimes!”

“I-I’m sorry?”

Resting her chin in her hands and her elbows on her knees, Arashi pouted. “There’s nothing for you to apologize for… Rather… I should be apologizing to you too.”

The Ferris Wheel slowly began to move again.

“Why?”

“For having you getting all mixed up in my mess, especially since I was supposed to be the one helping you. And I missed the whole confession scene that I was working so hard for too!”

“…”

Arashi leaned back and stared at the shifting landscape. “This is my own fault, in the end. I was so caught up in the fantasy I was dreaming for you that I couldn’t see the reality happening right in front of me.” She crossed her arms. “I’ll be sure to try to not make the same mistake again.”

“I’m proud of you, Narukami.”

“E-Eh!? Where’s this sentimentality coming from!? I didn’t even do anything!”

“When I came to you with my worries, you did not hesitate to help me out. You were trying to be aware of Nagumo’s feelings, and when you ended up failing, you persevered to try to fix the mess you made.” Adonis turned to his friend, a deep breath leaving his chest. “And though you hate burdening others, you also didn’t let your pride stop yourself from asking others to help you find him. Even now, you apologized to me for something that was not your fault, and you viewed it as an opportunity to grow. You are strong in a way that I admire a lot.”

“…”

“Was that also ‘too honest’?”

“…No, Adonis-chan. It wasn’t.” Arashi smiled warmly. “And… that’s a part of you that I admire, actually. Thanks for telling me that.”

“Of course.” A small clunk drew Adonis’ attention. “Ah. We should get off now.” He rose from his seat and offered a hand.

“A gentleman as always, Adonis-chan ♪” Arashi accepted his hand, and as they exited the Ferris Wheel, she looked up at the setting sun. I wonder… If you were still around, would you also call me strong? Would you also be proud of me? They’re my family too now, and it would be nice if we could all sing your song together ♪

Notes:

Arashi is someone who loves to try to take care of others, and she always tries to be open-minded and kind, so I think it's SUPER interesting to have the type of conflict that's spurred on by her selfishness, an aspect of her character that I feel like isn't mentioned as much when people talk about her! It's something she wouldn't do on purpose, but here the dilemma was perpetuated by the hyperfixation on her own fantasies, and I think Adonis worked well as a grounding force in her time of need. Especially in contrast to how in the other fic, Adonis was the one struggling to get off the ground for a moving start, and Arashi was the one to lift him! They have a really nice dynamic and chemistry that I think makes them a really good match even if they aren't romantically involved :))

(sorry about the short ramble, but I really tried to think hard about characterization and dynamics in this fic, so I hope I did a decent job >.<)
